Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Swimace replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Well what if some of the pictures are meant to be spaces, so that the numbers would separate the letters into their words and then they would have to be unscrambled. While unscrambling words that short wouldn't be hard, it would make it harder to figure out the puzzle without having all the pieces. Also, do you think this has to do with Fahrenheit or maybe they're starting to play games with the July 1st announcement? Just a thought... -
The Rumor / Crazy Idea Superthread
Swimace replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That makes more sense than how I was reading into it initially, but I still don't think that group of people make up a large enough part of the market to justify adding an old coaster and probably having to remove pre-existing rides in the process. I guess we'll see though, but I would be extremely surprised if this is true. -

Enthusiast make up less than 1% of the people who pay to go to amusement parks, that makes no sense from a business point of view. Plus, any new coaster would attract a lot of enthusiasts AND the other 99% of the coaster riding market, so I don't really get why (CP of all places) would rescue an old wood coaster. -

^That sucks to have to deal with registration crap going into the end of the semester, we registered here like a month ago. ...with that said, I'm pissed because my school owes me money that I could really use. As part of my athletic aid here I get all of my school supplies for free from the campus book store. However, sometimes a teacher will put down something on a syllabus that isn't available at the campus book store, and in that case you have to go and buy it yourself and the athletic department will refund your money. I had $50 worth of crap I had to get at the beginning of the semester. Everybody else has gotten their reimbursement checks back except for me, so I go into the office today just to find that they lost my receipts! They had no idea what happened to the money they owe me! I know $50 doesn't sound like a lot of money to a lot of people, but I am a college student who can stretch $50 a loooong way (aka I'm broke). If I owed the school money and got it to them late then there would be some sort of penalty, so why should it be any different when it's the other way around? They promised me it would get worked out, but it still annoys me that I'm getting my refund so late. I bought that stuff in December!

Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!

^Your third one has an "N" in it, and I think there's an "I" in the first one over the headrest Robb's third one has an "N" hidden it Your first picture has a really small "E" hidden in it, and there's an "N" in the second one Your second picture has a really small "T" hidden in it, your first one has an "A", and I can't tell if your third one has an "I" Maybe Hersheypark isn't done with the puzzles? Or is this just me here? -

^^^ I think it's like that so that in case they need to evacuate a train on the lift they can reverse the lift and lower the trains back down. I'm pretty sure it was discussed earlier in this thread, but I'm too lazy to dig it up. -
^^Huh, well I guess you learn something new everyday. ^I got kicked really hard in the knee at a concert earlier this year by some people who were moshing. Since Clemson athletes get free medical care, I went into our training room and told them that I hurt it while working out and so they took me out of some running workouts. It was friggin sweet... Oh, here's a youtube channel that some girls I met at the last show I went to have. They put up a bunch of stuff from the last show, it's worth checking out if you get the chance: http://www.youtube.com/lesantig

JZ's Six Flags Over Georgia Photo TR!
Swimace replied to PKI Jizzman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^Yes, the have sky buckets, but they're really short and not really that great. Goliath is awesome pretty much anywhere you sit, but the back row is the best (front row is really fun too). I haven't noticed the trim being on any harder on Goliath this year, but I did think it was a little but harder on Mind Bender this year (maybe that was just me though...). I would do Goliath first and then go to Superman because these two rides get the longest lines. Superman is at the back of the park, so Goliath is sort of on the way anyways. As for flats, they have a wheelie that I think is really fun so it may be worth a ride if you like that kind of thing. Also, as Erik said, if you're looking for seating tips then go on the front row of the back cars to avoid some pain on Ninja and Cyclone. To answer your locker policy question, I have never had a problem riding with stuff in my pockets. I don't like to bring a lot of stuff to parks, so I usually just have my phone, wallet, and camera, but I've never had to get a locker or anything. You also need to go on Monster Plantation, no excuses. -
SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
Swimace replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I didn't think we were going to see many more of them, but I thought it was just a matter of time before we saw one in Florida. IOA had the rumored Jurassic Park one for years (and the dueling flyer rumor that eventually became DD) and Busch parks have a love affair with B&M's. The only question was which of the three parks would be the first to get one, and I guess that would be Sea World. -
^That doesn't surprise me, I've heard a really mixed batch of reviews for their shows. I honestly just felt like they weren't even really trying when I saw them, like it was just Pete Wentz prancing around on stage expecting that the audience would love him no matter what. At least they can play some good shows, but being consistent would be nice seeing as how their tickets aren't too cheap. ....oh, and Fall Out Boy has no business coming near a Less Than Jake show.

Well final exams are coming up, which means I'm doing everything I can do not study at this point. I think this is the third show I've been to this month, I've posted pics of the others over the past two pages. Tonight I took a break from Atlanta and went to Columbia for a concert. Anyways, here was tonight... We The Kings. They've been on MTV a lot lately, and they weren't all too great live. They were solid, but couldn't really deliver great vocals live. Valencia. They were really good too and came across as a little more serious than The Cab or Sing it Loud. The Cab. They kind of sounded like Fall Out Boy, except they actually knew how to play live. They were solid, but not really my style. Charlotte Sometimes. Never heard of them, but they were AMAZING. Their lead singer had mad crazy vocal skills and they were my favorite band of the night. Sing It Loud. Never heard of them, but they were fun I guess.

Hey now, give him a break. He wasn't judging them, he was just saying that he thinks one looks better than the other. If he was like "well I saw the POVs and Maverick is definitely better", then that would be different, but that's not what he said. Most of us have some sort of idea what to expect when we get on big name rides like like Maverick and TTD, and I for one think that Maverick looks better even though I haven't ridden it. It may not be worth posting that you think one looks better than the other, but I certainly don't think it comes close to some of the dumb things that have been said on this site. Just my opinion though....

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
Swimace replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^That's a common mistake the GP makes. When I used to live in Florida I used to go to parks with my school friends. When SheiKra first opened I remember we got the front row of the second train in the station, and when the first train pulled away and we didn't half of the people with me got really surprised. I guess that makes sense in Florida, since most Floridians are used to seeing longer coaster trains and they don't obsess over coasters the way we do. I bet a lot of GP would probably make the mistake of thinking they would get wet on SheiKra as well. -

SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread

No, before those came out. There was a set that was a rough draft that showed a second inversion before the water splash. I'll look and see if I can dig them up, but they may be hard to find. I think thye might have even been a No Limits rendering from someone who managed to see the layout before it was finalized, but I can't remember since it was a few years ago. -

I don't know if anyone remembers, but right before SheiKra was announced there was some artwork that surfaced that was similar to this. The artwork showed the entire SheiKra layout in a very "rough" form, but included a second inversion before the splash that was apparently modified out of Busch's original plans. If this is legitimate, then I would have to say that it is a very early draft and that there could be some noticeable differences between this artwork and the final design. However, this artwork could be a starting point for what we should expect from this project, so I guess we'll see in May... -
Select Start seems like they would be a fun power-pop band to see live. I'm working in Florida over the summer, and I'd go to one of their shows if I got the chance. They play a lot in Florida since they're from Tampa, so I think they'd be fun if the opportunity presented itself.

I don't know about being intimidated by vegans, but I think vegans catch a lot of backlash because there are so many vegans and animal rights activists that give their cause a bad reputation. I have some vegan friends who aren't like that at all, but the fact of the matter is that a lot of vegans are extremely "in your face". That's the type of vegan that people bash, and unfortunately more moderate vegans sometimes get caught in the middle. So yeah, I guess you could say that there's a stereotype against vegans, but (in my opinion) it's not because they're different but rather because they can often try to force their views on others in a condescending manner.

Looking at that area in comparison to Journey makes this project look a lot bigger than I initially thought this was. I agree about the red track, it would pretty bad in Sea World, but I'm sure Sea World has put a lot of thought into how this project will fit into the park. -
I think he was talking about extremist groups and eco-terrorists. Groups like the Earth Liberation Front and (to a lesser extent) Greenpeace and PETA. A lot of animal activists don't care about the consequences of their actions as long as they make an environmental point. Unfortunately, a lot of these groups give a bad label to more moderate environmental activists, but I think groups like these are what larry was getting at. Here's a link to the kind of thing I'm talking about: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,343768,00.html

^^As far as I know they were pretty far into their tour. Pete Wentz had hurt his foot a while earlier in the tour, so I think there were a good number of stops before they came to Clemson. I'm not really familiar with that tour, so if anyone can dig up their schedule then that may be a better indicator. I honestly don't think it had to do with where they were on the tour, they just seemed to be resting too much on their huge set and cool effects. On another note though, Gym Class Heroes= Amazing live. They were one of the opening acts and they did a hip-hop cover of the Arctic Monkeys which was GREAT!! I'm a huge Arctic Monkeys fan and Gym Class Heroes definitely did them justice. Here's a pic. They blew Fall Out Boy out of the water...

I actually had to write a paper in my philosophy class last semester where I had to compare the arguments of a vegan versus a non-vegan. In my opinion, the most striking thing from the vegan argument was the description of modern day slaughter houses and how inhumane they are. Aside from that, a lot of animals of farms do get poor treatment that is truly awful. Am I aware of this? Yes, but it's not enough for me to change my entire diet in protest. If I wanted to become a vegan I would do it for the environmental reasons, because being a vegan does reduce a lot of energy consumption. The cattle industry isn't going to change by me becoming a vegan, and I know a lot of people will see that as a cop-out, but it's true.
