  1. Does anyone else think it is sort of ironic that Obama is the Democratic nominee? I mean really, after years of democrats complaining about the Gore/Bush election the democratic nominee doesn't receive the popular vote. The funny thing about it is that the rules for determining the president are laid forth in the constitution, so Bush technically had the law on his side even though the democrats wouldn't admit it. When picking a nominee, the rules are set forth by the party, so essentially the decision to choose delegates over the popular vote was a decision that the democratic party made. Nothing against Obama, I think he's an ok candidate and probably our next president, but I just think it's sort of funny after listening to liberals whine about Bush for 8 years. "We're going to throw a fit in 2000 over the popular vote, but when it comes to our own party we go the same way" - The Democratic Party Notes from a moderate.
  2. ^Batman is smaller and more compact, but is more forceful. Silver Bullet is a really large ride, but it isn't very intense.
  3. ^haha, when I went to Wild Adventures in April they were playing the Superman theme music at the park entrance. A little bit out of place? Yeah...
  4. Did anyone watch John McCain's speech tonight? It was PAINFUL.
  5. ^Because that show is awesome. It's so stupid but so funny.
  6. ^^^^^^Nice Photo TR! Man I would kill to get to Great Adventure, I think El Toro is probably the #1 coaster I want to ride in the US. Playing "count the trash cans" was great fun in that ariel photo you took; I had no idea this was a Cedar Fair park!
  7. I guess today was the last day for seniors in high school for Gainesville. A group of about 20-30 seniors came to the parking lot outside the pool that I work at with big bottles of ketchup, mustard, syrup, bags of flour, and cartons of eggs. They got in a big fight with everything, and then my car got egged, at which point my "oh hell no" instincts kicked in. We often have to call the police for fights that break out around our pools (I actually had a couple of kids arrested last Friday), so I called the police dispatch to get our officers over to the pool. The kids had to clean the parking lot up and had their names taken down, but it still bugs that some high school punks would egg my car just because they think they're all big and bad for graduating.
  8. Do I want to go see Coheed and Cambria in Orlando or in Jacksonville? Orlando is about 30 minutes farther, but the Orlando show is on a Friday night, at a better venue, and is on Disney property. When these are the things I have to complain about, you know it's a good summer.
  9. So.... good bands playing at the Indy 500? How is that even fair to the rest of us? I can't compete with that!!!!
  10. Less Than Jake is playing at Downtown Disney in June. Need I say more? Count that in as concert #4 for June.
  11. Vekoma SLC's should come standard with Fergie music. I can see it now... "If the headbanging doesn't make your ears bleed, the music will"
  12. I had an Alien Encounter shirt back in middle school, I wish I still had it just to remind me how much I hate Stitch. Since then I don't think I've ever gotten a shirt from a theme park, I just wouldn't wear it anywhere and I have too many clothes as it is. So I guess my current total is zero.
  13. I hated middle school so much, those three years were so miserable. I don't think we had a graduation, and if we did I guess I don't remember it. I think got a free day at the pool that was next to our school. I would do the thing off the top of my head, but you have a pretty solid start to your speech for an 8th grader. Mad props.
  14. I would take the long tunnel of boredom on Lake Winnie's boat chute and give it a "Monster Plantation" theme, thus creating the most random water ride of all time. Gotta love them Georgia water rides...
  15. hahahahahahahahaha I just died laughing, but it so true. The one movie that keeps coming up in this thread as the only quality movie from Dreamworks is Shrek, and that's the only Dreamworks movie that comes to mind that doesn't use animals. Dreamworks films are just very forgettable, they all sort of blend together in a really bad way.
  16. Obviously it's important to remain open minded about different cultures, but it just bugs me when people blindly put up the "different culture" argument because it's such a slippery slope. Where do you draw the line on what's unacceptable and what is a difference in culture? Everybody draws the line in a different place, which is what makes that such a vague and weak argument IMO
  17. WOW. That's just a *little* bit pretentious, don't you think? Thank God you are so cultured Bucket. I hate the "oh, it's a different culture" argument, and Ginzo pretty much summed up why.
  18. While I think it is a really good move for Busch to finally get system like this, I think it is a drawback that you might not get to pick your row on some rides. That bugs me about how some of the rides at Six Flags are set up, but then again I'm obviously a coaster enthusiast and am more picky about where I sit than your average park guest. Then again, I've visited BGA multiple times, so I'm not a first time visitor who really wants to get in every single attraction on a crowded day. This could be a big advantage for visitors like that.
  19. If a coaster were to ever take a restraining order out on an enthusiast for being a stalker, it would be Fahrenheit and you. You should have asked about the crooked webcam during the Q&A session. Just kidding, what an awesome report! I can't wait to see your pictures since you're such a great photographer!
  20. I haven't been to BGA since SheiKra opened, but I don't remember the lines ever really being too bad there. I've been a number of times since I grew up in Florida, the park was always popular but really efficient at getting people through the rides. I wish they would merge Montu in the station, because the best place to ride is in the very front or in the very back, but I guess you don't get the option to choose your row. I'm back in Florida for the summer, so hopefully I'll find an excuse to get back to the park.
  21. *Checks calendar to make sure this isn't another April fool's thread* In my opinion, the only Dreamworks animated movie that has been close to Pixar standards is Shrek. Even "disappointing" Pixar movies are great, and Wall-E looks like it will be amazing.
  22. ^One of my favorite bands of all time, nice call. I have a guitar that is autographed by all of The Shins. I saw them live in the fall and they were AMAZING. Wolves at Night- Manchester Orchestra
  23. Either you hit the park on a REALLY good day or I'm just a lot harder to please than you. Carowinds is only two hours away from Clemson, and I have yet to spend more than one day at the park, I always opt for SFOG or Dollywood. Afterburn is all kinds of awesome though, glad you had a good time.
  24. I give Splash Mountain at WDW the edge over Dudley because I think its theming is just a little bit better and it has an extra drop. Dudley is still amazing though, I think IOA definitely has the best drop on any log flume that I've been on. I'm going to give honorable mention to the log flume at Knotts, it is pure classic and is really well themed as well. Worst: Wild Adventure's log flume. Go figure...
  25. Awesome TR dude! I don't know what it is about the new school GCI's, but they just rock so hardcore from the front, and this is coming from the type who usually prefers the back seat on most coasters. Have fun at the Indy 500!
