First sentence of that article: Can anybody tell me the key word here?

Needless to say I don't understand the logic here.

Actually there have been studies that show that drinking in moderation leads to improved health, specifically heart function. Just because binge drinking damages your body doesn't mean that ALL drinking damages your body. So yes, there is a huge difference between smoking cigarettes and consuming alcohol.

Last night I went to see Modest Mouse at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney, Lake Buena Vista, Florida. I usually post pictures in here but the HoB is really strict about not letting anyone in with cameras. Sorry!

Here are some pics I took yesterday on a visit to the park, the loop should be done pretty soon at the rate they've been moving. Along with the new restaurants, Universal has decided to extend their dining services to ducks in an effort to bring in more profit during these tough economic conditions. This particular restaurant is indoors. Thanks for reading Another look at the new CityWalk area In some unrelated news, they were having a media event in CityWalk for the new BK burger bar as well as the new Panda Express and Moe's Just a quick look out front. This part looks like it could have some fun airtime This is how the stage area looks, it should be pretty cool when all of the track is complete For those of you worried about how the new skyline will effect your rides on the Suess Trolly, this is what you can expect As you can see they've added spikes to the roof that match the track's color scheme. The roof itself is red Here's the track portion that goes between Jimmy Neutron and the station Fail. Still. A look at the expanding skyline from the MiB area. Rockit has gotten big enough that it can clearly be seen from I-4 as well as from the turnpike

EDIT: ^Doh! You beat me to it! Rock n' Roller Coaster isn't a custom coaster, it's an off-the-shelf Vekoma. Also, WED Enterprises ceased to exist as a seperate enterprise in 1965, so I'm pretty sure they didn't design it. It was re-structured and re-named to become Imagineering, but these two things are different since WED Enterprises was its own private company and Imagineering is part of the Walt Disney Company. Seeing as WED Enterprises hasn't existed as a private unit since the 60's, I think it's a safe assumption that they don't secretly rent rides to Disneyland Paris.

What rank did you make it to in Boy Scouts?
Swimace replied to Kennyweird's topic in Random, Random, Random
I'm an Eagle Scout. That took a loooooong time. I did Philmont and National Jamboree as well. -
I've been to SFOG on opening day before and it was a really great day to get everything in the park done. The only coaster that was down when I went was Deja Vu.... and lets be honest, that was sort of to be expected on the first day of operation. Also, the only thing that had a line was Superman, everything else was either a walk on or a 1-2 train wait.

SeaWorld Orlando (SWO) Discussion Thread
Swimace replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's the same thing as a pull out from a drop, except that loops have to be tighter so that it can be short enough for the train to make it through. A loop is a high G-force element, even the more tame ones that I've experienced would be too strong for a flyer. I just don't think they could build a loop that is forceless enough for a flying coaster without making it so huge that the train wouldn't even make it through. Even if they did make it work, I just don't think it would be a very enjoyable element to have that many sustained G's in that position. -

^All of the force that usually thrusts you into your seat when you go through a loop would instead be crushing the entire front portion of your body into your restraints. It just wouldn't be a pleasant element, it would be pretty painful. -

^Did someone say Dole Whip update?!?! I know know just the person to not invite for that! I demand an update based solely on Dole Whip. It should include both the Polynesian as well as the Magic Kingdom and should include comparisons between the products served at both. Now that's my kind of update! -
^^Yeah Scott, you could get a sweet monorail armband!

Ooh, awesome update Eric! That was a really fun day, I ended up going back two more times! I think after doing the mazes multiple times I have to say that Scary Tales would be my favorite of the year, it was very clever and really well done. -

Why do you think execution should be allowed?
Swimace replied to Adriel's topic in Random, Random, Random
I've done high level college MUN conferences before, and to be honest if you want to be any good at debate you shouldn't base your arguments off of TPR forum members. As the representative from the DPRK you're job isn't to simply argue for the death penalty based on what TPR members would say or what you would say, you're job is to say exactly what a representative from the DPRK would say. You need to be able to confidently say, "The DPRK believes that ______ and here is why.". Asking a group of random coaster enthusiasts their opinion is setting yourself up to get slammed by stronger delegates. The way to prepare for a MUN competition is to go through the real UN's archives and find 1)what your country's representatives have said about it in speeches, 2) has your country signed anything relating to the subject, and 3) who they signed it along with. If you don't know these things you're running the risk of looking stupid when someone says "representative from the DPRK, could you explain why you're saying this when your country is a signatory on something that contradicts what you're saying? Has the DPRK suddenly changed its position?". In short: everybody in here who is saying "I think _______" really has no use to you. Also, not everybody is going to hate you. Just because your country isn't popular in the United States because of issues of security doesn't mean that your country isn't going to be able to work with other delegates. Steps to a MUN conference: 1)Walk around and meet everybody, especially spend time making sure your allies know who you are. 2)Feel out who has done their research and who hasn't. As a delegate who would be well researched going into a conference, I would 1) try to sway people who seem to be on the fence and 2) try to convince anyone who's on the fence that the opposing countries are wrong. Simply put, if you come across in an MUN conference the way you do in this thread then all of the good players are going to be doing whatever they can to manipulate you. Sorry, it's a debate competition and that's the way it goes. 3)Make sure you are on the speaker's list at ALL times. Even if you don't have anything important to say, just go up and say something that sounds pretty. You need everyone in your committee to be able to recognize you as being involved in the debate. The more you stand out the more people will want you to be a sponsor with them. 4) You're the DPRK. Seriously, you need to be an asshole. When you're in session it's not personal, it's a competition. -

Boy hurt in 2000 Disneyland accident dies.
Swimace replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Haha, you don't spend much time around kids, do you? The kid is dead and you're nice enough to "cut him some slack"? Seriously? I run two summer camps as a job, and the younger camp has had some close calls with kids on field trips. Children at that age don't have a thought process that is developed enough to sit back and always make a reasonable decision, they act impulsively. A four year old at Disney is in a different place with an overload of stimulation going on around them, parent's can't always control the overloaded instincts of a child. He probably reacted instinctively to loosing something on the ride, the judgment of a four year old isn't always predictable, especially at a place like Disney. Usually I side with the parks on these sort of cases (i.e. SFOG's batman incident), but a park like Disney really should be more prepared when dealing with little kids. The mother probably didn't have time to react to her child leaving the vehicle, when you said she "did nothing" you're making it sound like the child leaving the vehicle was a 10 minute long process during which the mother just had a blank look on her face. If a kid quickly leaves a ride vehicle I doubt there was much she could do in such a short time. Oh, and to answer your question about how a kid could possibly be trapped on such a slow moving ride, here's a link to an explanation with pictures that was on that article. The ride vehicles can spin pretty quickly from my understanding, so it's pretty easy to imagine a small child getting hit by one if he left the front car. http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/util/map_popup.php?url=/newsimages/Graphics/2009/01/toontown.gif -
Six Flags Season Pass Survey
Swimace replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some of the rewards they were offering were actually pretty solid, I think it sounds like a good promotion. I said in my comment that I think it would be cooler if you got increased points for visiting more Six Flags parks than your home park, as I visited four Six Flags last year and I think it would be cool for the company to recognize that. Where they survey started to go down hill for me was at the suggestion of more reward points for how much money you spend in the parks, I really didn't like the concept of them trying to get me to spend more money by using rewards. I spend money at a theme park when I really like what they have to offer (i.e., really good food when I'm at Disney), when I'm at Six Flags I don't really spend much at the park because I can leave part way through the day and eat the same quality food for much cheaper at a fast food restaurant. If they want me to spend more money in the park they should offer more options rather than rewards. This viewpoint is coming from a SFOG passholder perspective, some of the SF parks do have some cool stuff in their park that is worth spending some money on. -
I've flown across the Atlantic on both American Airlines and Virgin Atlantic, and I have to say that Virgin is SOOO much better. As a cheap college student, I cut corners wherever I can so I'd take the American Airlines flight, just realize if you book that flight that you're not going to be as comfortable as you will be on the Virgin flight.
