  1. My father took me on space mountain when I was 3 years old (don't know how, but he did) and also went on the Busch Gardens log flume when I was 4...traumatized for about several years after that, I wouldn't go on any other rollercoasters until I was 15, went back to Busch Gardens and got up the willpower to ride all of the coasters there, starting with Scorpion and ending with Kumba.
  2. I think technically it isn't but maybe whatever they do in the windtunnel makes it colder?? It rarely gets to 32 deg. F (0 deg. C) in Orlando
  3. I think you're confusing EPCOT with "EPCOT Center" (I learned this at Disney orientation when I worked there back in 1990.) The park itself is really called "EPCOT Center" because it is roughly at the "center" of the property. The entire property is the "Experimental Prototype Community Of Tomorrow" because it has parks, hotels, living areas, shopping, etc. That is what Walt dreamt of. (And really, Celebration is more like what Walt wanted than anything else.) I don't dispute that Walt is spinning in his grave though. Too much of a good thing, and all of that. Actually what we see at Epcot today is NOTHING like Walt's plans. The name may have initally been the same, but the result is entirely different. I'm writing a book about the original plans for EPCOT and their impact if it was built today
  4. back to the TOPIC Yes, I agree that with unlimited money I'd love to see the original attractions back to the way they were, especially Horizons.
  5. Universal Studios Florida- Summer of 1995, worked boardwalk games in front of Jaws, first job I ever worked, first (and last) job I was ever fired from (and it wasn't technically my fault)
  6. Cool, thanks. I'm a big Toyota motorsports fan and I've seen pics of that place, seems to be quite a place (although not if you're just looking for thrill rides )
  7. Robb/Elissa On your DVD for the Japan Trip it has a brief shot of some cars on a platform going up. I know Toyota's MegaWeb park has this, but I didn't know if you saw it there or somewhere else. Can you tell me where it was? I want to go to MegaWeb someday
  8. I was slightly scared on the High-Roller at the Stratosphere, it made some bad noises when I rode it in 2001, and it wasn't even that enjoyable, me and the (only) 2 other people on it agreed
  9. I hate to say this, but I really don't care anymore, a super-hi res Mario Kart just isn't that appealing to me
  10. So you're dangling 900 feet above the ground, in a ride that has malfunctioned with 50+ MPH winds, hanging there for over an hour and some of you wouldn't be scared? Even though I know rides are safe and designed with very good standards....I'd probably be scared ****less.
  11. I'm not 100% sure that they built Disney (MGM pretty much gone) Studios completely because they heard that Universal was building their second theme park/production facility in Orlando. They had a plans for a movie themed park but when they heard the annoucment of USF they got off their ass and put some of the things they had planned into play. To be truthful, until Mummy, I preferred Disney-MGM. It had more to offer in the terms of things I enjoy. Now I'm not so sure. You are wrong. Disney was already going to build a movie based theme park before Universal announced USF. I keep hearing both ways on this. I've heard reports that Universal planned an Orlando park as early as 1980, before MGM was announced. Anyway, my take is that in the past 10 years, Universal has done a LOT more than Disney and one reason why I prefer it now. Look at the off the shelf carnival rides that Disney put in Animal Kingdom, it's a joke to Disney fans everywhere.
  12. I like Kraken, but it's too smooth, IMO. I like Hulk nearby much better
  13. thank you, someone agrees with me about M:S. It's the same basic effect you get on a gravitron at the local fair, except a bit faster, you have some cheap graphics and controls that do the work for you and don't actually change what happens, there's no real storyline and it's short because you get sick too easily already and it would be worse if it were longer. 2 people were taking full use of the large garbage cans they have directly outside of the ride when I was on it That's not a Disney quality ride, IMO
  14. I think one reason is cost For example, Spiderman and Mission Space cost over $100 million each, whereas Millennium Force cost $25 million.
  15. Busch Gardens Tampa- 10 mins USF/IOA/Disney/SeaWorld- 2 hours Cypress Gardens- 1.5 hours (?)
  16. I seriously doubt that would stop Universal from putting a jeep ride in
  17. Yes, I've seen a few things on this. the actual ground in some parts of Yellowstone has risen dozens of feet in the past 20 years
  18. I read on another message board that someone overheard Sea World Orlando execs referring to a new rollercoaster possibly going in.
  19. jeep dropping, jeep dropping....wait a sec...that explains it... Remember that in the USH version, the JP river adventure has a jeep dropping, but IOA has a raptor cage? I bet they wanted to put the jeep dropping in the jeep safari ride they never built (yet) so that could be why it's not there.
  20. I LOVE IT...but I can't afford one yet. I've borrowed one a few times from a rich friend (he bought 2). He also has 2 Nintendo DS systems and he hates them now compared to the PSP, there is no comparison It has 24 games out this month for it, AFAIK which is a LOT for a brand new system. I think it is incredible with the flexibility of it, for movies, music, photos and games also. The price may be a bit steep but you get a lot of extras for the price also (headphones, case, 32mb memory stick) Also, Im pretty sure the problem with the disc case opening has been fixed for the US version, I've been browsing message boards for the PSP and haven't heard anyone talk about it being an issue
  21. Straight Guy that likes only women, but have also had plenty of gay and lesbian friends who were not flamboyant or political about it
  22. I agree, I saw the original concept videos for this ride and it looked awesome, now it just looks like a relatively slow and poorly themed attempt at a coaster, IMO
  23. yes, we have scientific equipment to prove it. If a man says something, and no women are around, is he still wrong?
