  1. As some people have already mentioned here, I think that if they are going to replace the vinyl wraps, then it will probably be new advertising related wraps. This is Six Flags and they're known for doing that on many of their major coasters throughout the chain. On another note... still waiting on any news about possible rethemes
  2. I am thinking of possibly going there next summer, however, I have never been anywhere outside of the United States. With that being said, is it hard to cross into Canada with an Enhanced License? I already have one but I never used it. How does that whole process at the border work? I would have to imagine that they're probably not just going to look at the card and let me pass right away without some sort of process.
  3. BTW, any theories on how long it may take the park to do a Holiday in the Park event? Would saying "next year" be too soon of a prediction?
  4. As one of the five regulars - I mentioned it as a “cheap” (relatively speaking) “addition” to the park that would enhance the experience of the park’s star attraction. Yes I understand it’s a second train and a name change, but the fact that it’s been called Ride of Steel since 2007, and 11 years later, guests still refer to the ride as it’s original name, says to me that the return of the man of steel theming would be welcome. Not to mention, the ABILITY to run the ride at normal capacity would be nice. To me that seems like quite a Six Flags addition, since most claim to keep expectations lower than low. One train and some branding sponsored by Takis or something ridiculous. Calling it new and moving on. Because that’s what six Flags does, right? Yes, they have a new swing ride coming, and I’m excited to have something like it in the park. Whenever “what could they do for a new attraction” came up, one of my top suggestions was a wind seeker type attraction. I’m glad that top management had a similar thought. However, there has been absolutely no updates from the park on where the attraction is going, no construction photos and certainly no live webcams - in true Darien Lake fashion of course. Therefore people like me and the other 4 regulars like to try and discuss things like the inevitable branding of attractions and how they may do it when the time comes to pass time as we wait for the season to start up again. Hopefully this helps answer the why that you are looking for. It’s a discussion thread after all. And for some of us the transition back to Six Flags is exciting and worth talking about. That includes branding rides and other minor things. It’s the off season and we’re discussing a park that posts very little during this time of year. Thanks SbSteveZ. You basically summed it up.
  5. Looks good for a prototype design for a new model line.
  6. I am really not at all surprised about that. Six Flags America has around the same attendance numbers if I am not mistaken. Also, would it really be that hard to retheme Ride of Steel back to Superman? They don't even have to repaint it to pass it off as a Superman themed ride. To Paraphrase what someone said on the last page, all they have to do is slap some Superman logos around the station and on the front of the train, and then change the sign on the front to a new Superman related name. That... and more cheaply made Superman merch in the gift shop lol
  7. Journey Into Imagination. Do you prefer Oxtail or Steak?
  8. Is this park going to get a new thrilling steel coaster within the next 5 years, or do you think it will be more like within the next 10 years?
  9. That was quick. Does that mean an announcement for any rethemes will be released soon as well?
  10. A good quality Rochester, NY style Garbage Plate
  11. If Knoebels got a well-loved Top Scan and ran it the way it's supposed to be run, the enthusiast community would lose their minds. And their lunches. I agree with this. Top Scans are nice.
  12. Does finals week of the college semester count?
  13. … Teenage Mutant Ninja Seagulls. They all then proceeded to...
  14. It really depends on whether or not more water rides are designed that require less maintenance. Without a change in maintenance costs, there will be no revival in dry park water rides.
  15. Is an S&S Freespin the most likely next addition for 2020, or do you all think that they will put in another flat or take a year off? Thoughts?
  16. Vekoma Dive Coaster? Is this a recently announced model? I never heard of that.
  17. So, is that the only thing being added in 2020? Also, still no word on a retheme for any of the currently existing rides?
  18. Is there at least a rumor on who is making / designing it?
  19. I have mild Autism myself, and I don't run in the other direction when I'm around an S&S Space Shot, and those things can get loud. Thing is, both sides sort-of have a point. However, here's the catch... experience will make sound sensitivity almost non-existent. The root cause is "the lag effect" as some within the differently abled community may call it. It's where you get this weird and dizzy feeling along with slightly heightened sense from overstimulation, which is obviously the cause of some people's sensitivities to this ride. The ironic thing is that while some of us Autists hate the "lag" feeling, others (such as myself) actually seek that feeling for a "buzz", I guess you could call it. I love blasting loud music such as EDM or country (weird combination I know) for that reason. The solution is to tell them to at least get used to it... or maybe even teach them to get a good buzz off of the sounds of the ride. Sounds like good entertainment while waiting for the ride to me. Some of us can be snowflakes and I hate how they ruin our reputation. Now if you can excuse me, I'm gonna go "lag" and blast some country music immediately following this post. Edit : Thought I should mention, this "lag" effect is one of the best parts of this hobby to me. A good roller coaster can really kick off a quality "lag"
  20. BTW, any more word on if any Warner Bros. related theming is coming to the park as well? Or a retheme of Ride of Steel?
  21. I don't think that Frontier City is getting the same rebranding that Darien Lake is. If that were the case, they probably would have more bluntly said that it will be rebranded.
  22. I have not yet been to either, so I'll just say Orlando because it looks bigger. Rochester, New York or Albany, New York?
