  2. La Ronde This park https://rcdb.com/5470.htm or that park https://rcdb.com/5728.htm ?
  3. I agree. The greedy A-holes need the government to shut them up, not encourage them.
  4. To make it worse, your college ethics class decided to take a field trip to this place ----> https://rcdb.com/5470.htm I am tired
  5. First off, please check your spelling. You have become very well known for not checking your posts before actually posting them. To answer your question, there are two anniversaries coming in 2018. Motocoaster will be 10 years old and Boomerang will be 20 years old.
  6. Anyone know about the progress in construction for Tantrum?
  7. SbSteveZ, I feel the same way. It's dope Anyways, I know I have yet to say my thoughts on the upcoming Eurofighter, so here they are. It's about f***ing time they put in a new coaster. On top of that, it so happens to be a rather good quality model. I honestly was guessing they were going to add a small family coaster or something poor quality. Thus, compared to my expectations, this is amazing. I honestly don't even care if it's the short Iron Shark version of the Eurofighter. It's a Eurofighter and not a family coaster nor a poor quality manufacturer, and that I am happy about. So congrats Darien Lake! Keep up the good work!
  8. Progress was made on the 2018 attraction. Genesee approved of it and gave Darien Lake the tax exemptions. (no, it's not a Rick Roll joke this time). http://www.thedailynewsonline.com/bdn01/incentives-will-support-new-darien-lake-ride-with-360000-in-abatements-20171028
  9. Here is some footage from the meeting. They talked about something very, very interesting (without giving any spoilers). Unfortunately, I don't know how to make the video display in the chat, so this naked link is all I can provide for now.
  10. ...what? People in this thread complain about park cleanliness, ride painting and maintenance breakdowns, and I havent seen anything at DL (in regards to that) that I havent seen at WDW. Two rides broke down today at Epcot while I was on it or in line. If that happened at DL the park is on it way to closing down if you ask the people in this thread. You have to keep in mind there is a HUGE difference between Darien Lake and Walt Disney World. You dont say? My point is, "problems" at DL also are "problems" in a major theme park run by a major corporation. You're listing problems that are present at every park known to man. No park is perfect, people. You heard me. This is the best conversation that I've seen on this thread in a very long time. People can be straight up wimps about the smallest details. Also, I've been to Dinseyworld (the Florida resort for anyone living under a rock) several times so far and noticed the same thing. Darien Lake is really not that bad. If you want to see a real poor quality experience, go to Sylvan Beach nearby. There's a reason Sylvan Beach does not have a thread on TPR
  11. A new ride(s) is all but confirmed already... It will be pretty much made official next Thursday if that article was true. Which I understand there’s a chance it’s false but the writing on the wall is pointing to a rather large addition for the park - relatively speaking While I’m at it, we have a new article today that Chris Thorpe was interviewed for. http://www.thedailynewsonline.com/bdn01/darien-lake-keeps-next-ride-a-secret-for-now-20171005 So, what about that announcement you said would happen?
  12. Here is my trip report for my one visit to Darien Lake. Sorry about the lack of photos, I guess I just didn't think of it. I went to the park for the only time this year (going back to college in only a few days) and, I have to admit, it's not really in as bad of condition as this forum made it sound. I went there Friday (August 18th) and there were very small lines at almost every ride and all of the rides were up and running except for one. In regards to the wait times, I think the key advice I can give is to go on a week day and to avoid going on a Saturday/Sunday. Look at the report on Viper's line on the last page to see why I say this. I got a total of three rides on ride of steel. The first two were walk-on waits, the third took about 3 cycles. It is a little rough, but tolerable. It's still a very good ride and is absolutely amazing in the very back car. Despite it's slight roughness, Ride of Steel is still easily my favorite coaster in the park. Blast off was a walk on both times I went to it. Amazing airtime and not jerky at all. It's a very good S&S space shot tower. I only went on Viper once because I was in a rush to eat lunch afterwards (yes, I know, that's a bad excuse but oh well) and enjoyed it more than I remembered enjoying it on past visits. I used to think of Mind Eraser as my second favorite coaster in the park but I have officially changed my mind in favor of Viper. It is a very smooth coaster despite being 35 years old and is easily the second smoothest coaster in the park (Motocoaster being the smoothest). The inversions were forceful, the speed was good throughout most of the ride (even the corkscrews), and your back feels as good when getting off as when it felt when you first boarded the ride. Mind Eraser has a cool looking new paint job on it's front sign. Other than that, nothing has changed with Mind Eraser. I still like it (yes, I like Vekoma SLCs). It's kinda rough, but I can tolerate it. It's not the unbearable roughness that is experienced on Predator. The inversions have a fun snap to them. My only legitimate complaint about Mind Eraser is the paint. Some parts of the ride clearly have not been repainted in 20 years. Predator was awful. On past visits I have been able to tolerate it but for some reason it was way worse this season. To be honest, I don't even know how. I mean, RMC even came in to repair the track so the track condition really has me scratching my head. Anyways, I don't recommend riding Predator in it's current state. It has potential (great layout), it simply needs a lot of care. Boomerang is still what it has been. It is surprisingly smooth and is very fun and forceful. It's just a fun, average coaster. Not much else to say really. Motocoaster is holding up really well after 9 years. It's still very smooth. The launch is very forceful and fun and the turns come at a very fast pace. Motocoasters are easily Zamperla's best coaster design as they do indeed manage to pack in a lot of action in a small space, and Darien Lake's Motocoaster is no exception. Rolling Thunder's restraints are horrible. That's all I have to say about Rolling Thunder. Twister was running a very good cycle. Forceful and not too short. Easily my favorite flat ride in the park. Scrambler was very forceful and ran a nice, lengthy cycle. I actually dared myself to ride Moose on the Loose and, to be honest, not as bad as I thought it would be. Thunder Rapids is a good log flume. Easily the best in the state, in fact. My only complaint is how the water looks like oil. Overall, I had a really good day there. It wasn't crowded and I got on everything in the park. I still think this park receives a bit more criticism than it should. I mean, to say Darien Lake is the worst park ever based on paint jobs, water in the log flume, and one ride's restraints does seem a bit harsh to me. After all, if you think that's bad, then go visit a small Chinise park filled with poorly maintained knock-off rides and then try judging again which is actually "bad" . I still like the park as a whole since it is very nice for short day trips (as long as it's not during the weekend). It's clean enough, all of the rides were open, and the food was pretty good too. The ride ops were rather nice as well. It's a park with potential.
  13. I don't know if anyone posted this one here yet, but in case no one did I would have to say Ride Of Steel (Darien Lake). It sounds like an empty shell of the former Superman theme combined with the very obvious fact that the ride is made out of steel. I really wish Darien Lake could rename that roller coaster something else at least slightly more creative.
  14. That's my favorite humorous moment in a TPR video.
  15. It would be less painful to walk through then. What if Disney World added a B&M coaster to the Magic Kingdom?
  16. I don't know either of them so... Linda I guess. Adirondack Mountains or Catskill Mountains?
  17. I have yet to get to Darien Lake this summer because of my summer job, social life, and church responsibilities. From what I've read on this forum, I'm kind of sad to see what has happened to the park. Maybe one visit later this month is all I need for the year. Are the broken rides a matter of a lack in funding or is there some other factor that I am unaware of?
  18. Sorry about quoting an older story but that's absolutely horrible! I have been kicked off of a couple rides at a few parks in the nearby area over being too big and I understand that they did that for my own safety. Does she not care about getting injured or worse?
  19. I thought this account was banned... but I guess not. Thanks Rob! I promise not to troll on these forums again! Really appreciate it!
  20. I'm not here to start a rumor so please, don't take this out of context and run with it like this means it will happen. IDK if it will. Anyways, RMC posted pictures of RMC raptor track being manufactured in their plant. How likely is it that this will go to Darien Lake? Does it seem like the coaster that would fit in the park? Any other parks more likely to receive it?
  21. They both have a Giant Inverted Boomerang. Seabreeze and Santa Cruz Boardwalk
  22. While it is sad to see what has happened to it, I am still going a few times this year simply because there is no way I can afford to go to a park more than 3/4 hours away (college student budget ). However, I am hopeful about the new owners.
  23. Am I really that bad? I mean.... if I am I'm sure Rob would say something and then I can stop whatever is so bad for these forums. He didn't say I had to stop anything so far so.... I guess that's just an opinion (?). If I do annoy you, however, I am sorry about that.
  24. Bacon Would you rather go to the UK or Japan?
  25. Not a bad idea, actually.
