  1. I actually went to Sunway on a bad day. The powered coaster was being removed and the mine train was closed. The park was very clean but the locker policy drove me round the bend. It's certainly a step up from some of the other local parks though. Certainly a park I'd be willing to give another shot. Back on topic though the new coaster has gone vertical. Looks better than the concept art Source looks a bit different to the original concept art
  2. I guess Yomiuriland are done with experimental unproven rides for a bit All of this looks great. the Car Factory has this kind of Kidzania looking Auto repair thing They also have this Autotopia type ride The oddly named Bungu Factory has this amazing Ball coaster rail thing I have no idea how it works but the balls run down those crazy rails somehow. I'd say the park has hit a home run here. All of these attractions look great.
  3. An odd one this. Mitsui Greenland has put new sitdown trains on their aging Togo sidown/standup dueling coaster. The trains feature onboard audio and look really really odd. Good to see Japan giving their older rides some love with Titan, SD2K and Surf Coaster all getting new trains recently news is here http://www.greenland.co.jp/park/news/2016/02061039.html Here's some stuff from the press release above. In Japanese unfortunatly and some pics of the new cars in the flesh.
  4. In other news Twist Coaster Robin is coming down. The ill fated Sansei/S&S El Loco coaster suffered an accident on almost if not on the first day it opened and never reopened. The park re-profiled some sections last year but seems to have now given up completely.
  5. Yomiuriland in Japan are opening a whole new area of the park next Friday. The area is split into different factories including the Car Factory, Food Factory, Fashion Factory and Bungu Factory (whatever that is) The Fashion Factory includes an indoor spinning coaster called Spin Runway while the Food Factory has an indoor/outdoor rapids ride. The spinning coaster is themed fairly heavily and looks particularly weird with a spiral lift hill and some decent theming. The rapids ride is in the food factory section and is called Nissin Yakisoba UFO. The themeing for this ride seems to be that you are a pot of noodles. Which sums up Japan quite brilliantly. Lots more info here (in Japanese) http://www.yomiuriland.com/gj/ A few pics I've dug up of the spinner (no idea who built this?) and the rapids ride
  6. Thought this needed sharing Wanda released some new concept art for Wanda Guangzhou. Love the concept of a duel loop and duel reverse spike tower. While clearly not 100% accurate Wanda have been pretty good at least getting the basic concepts for their coasters across in their art. But who could really build such a thing? Premier or Intamin are the two that come to mind.
  7. Some more from the park. The water coaster seems to be part of the water park but sits along the edge of the planned theme park so i guess when that opens it could be accessed from both sides.
  8. This park is WAY more advanced than i thought it was. Cool video here showing off the construction site compared to the concept art
  9. This came completely out of the blue. But Rixos Park a new park in Antalya, Turkey has built a new Intamin water coaster. The ride is a clone of the one that opened at Wanda Xishuangbanna in China earlier this year. It's tough to tell if this is actually just a water park with a coaster or the coaster is in a different part of the complex to the water slide towers. There is already a massive hotel on site. Seems Turkey is becoming quite the place for Intamin rides recently. I thought we'd seem the death of these Intamin water coasters as well but they keep popping up.
  10. *edit - Damn just realised i replied to a post from 10 years ago on the first page. whoops :S Check out this page in Shane's Amusement Attic thread. Has some good pictures and details on the rides. http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=985608
  11. Yup there's a few small articles. Nothing substantial though http://m.smxe.cn/view-4571.shtml
  12. An update on the Wanda Nanchang park. That Intamin hyper towers over everything. Anyone able to identify the type of tower ride there? looks like another Intamin ride to my untrained eye
  13. New video of the parks here from Aussie TV Not sure what this coaster is though? or which park looks interesting.
  14. Wanda has been what the Chinese market needed to give Happy Valley and Fatawild a kick up the goolies. However this may be the worst photoshop I've ever seen. This is Pony Express at Wanda Xishuangbanna. A ride similar to Pony Express at Knotts but with an extra Helix. However take a look at this picture for more than a second any you may see why they need new advertising staff
  15. Theres a nice video of the Nanchang park here with aerial images of the Intamin and GCI. http://v.qq.com/page/g/p/y/g0183mng9py.html For those that have issues viewing QQ videos heres some stills. Sorry they are pretty artifacty.
  16. The whole area is new pretty much. This is the area of Wanda Hefei late 2015. The park is roughly center bottom. This is the area just 5 years previously in 2010 Think this may be one of my all time favorite construction pictures of any ride in China
  17. Some more great pictures from the Hefei park Source
  18. Its possible there's some confusion there. Intamin also have a hyper splash on site. One that actually might be from Holiday World originally although that bits not confirmed yet. Could be that one they were talking about?
  19. An amazing aerial update on Hefei Wanda the park and its coasters. The Intamin launched coaster Looking pretty damn good. The Chinese built dueling tilt coasters. Not actually vertical as expected but properly custom layouts. One ride has 2 inversions while one ride has 3 inversions. More non coaster pics of the park here
  20. The new trains should help a lot. It wasnt the smoothest ride in the world. Good to see some investment going in. With Movie World planning on adding a new Mack coaster this year and a new hotel the parks seem to be upping there game a bit with the impending arrival of a new Wanda Park on the Gold Coast
  21. Intamin also literally just built a taller non inverting loop at wanda hefei too. So its not the only aeroplane themed coaster. The steepest lift or the tallest loop. Although it is if you add the words... in the United Arab Emirates after it
  22. Heres a better look at that SLC at Wanda Nanchang (now believed to be a Golden Horse) To be honest the shaping looks pretty good. Way better than the Beijing Shibaolai Amusement Equipment attempt way back in 2005.
  23. Also the custom Chinese SLC at the Nanchang park (same as the Intamin Hyper above) They are indeed Chinese built but we dont really know by who yet. B is my main worry. With the exception of the Chimelong parks The operations in China are always so awful i doubt it will ever run with both sides at the same time. My one hope is that Wanda turn out to be better park operators than Fantawild and Happy Valley. On another front. I wonder when we can stop calling rides knock offs? now they've started to diversify a bit. The Mine trains at Happy Valley Tianjin, Euro Park Jinan and Wanda Harbin are all custom designs with their own track type so they can't really be called knock offs anymore. But what about the SLC above which has a unique layout but a Vekoma track style? And the Tilts which have unique track style and layouts but a major element taken from Vekoma?
  24. The Intamin at Wanda Hefei is complete. And pretty enormous too. Full size here
  25. I think the loss of the GCI version is sadder than the loss of the original. It looked like the new ride would be similar to White Lightning which is a great little ride and perhaps the most pure fun I've had on a coaster in years.. GCII may have lost a sale but they do have the near clone of White Lightning at Plopsaland and apparently one at Holiday Park the following year as well as Viper plus all their retracking projects so they are still trundling along. They'll be fine.
