What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
Chasehat replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. El Toro- No doubt the best coaster I've ridden. Ridiculous airtime, the RT hill is the greatest thing ever and the twister finale is phenomenal. And it has the best drop I've ever experienced. 2. Superman (SFNE)- Just barely the best steel I've ever ridden. It's neighbor from across the park is giving it a run for its money. Awesome airtime, awesome tunnels, the spaghetti bowl is brilliant. May have the best layout of any coaster ever but..... the trains really really suck. Everything from the restraints, to the headrests, to the rattle. If it still had its old trains it'd be #1 3. Wicked Cyclone- This very well could be my #1 steel. The pacing is relentless the airtime is amazing and the inversions are awesome and it's soooo smooth. 4. Fury 325- I found this really overrated but still great. It had a nice drop, the speed was amazing and the treble clef was awesome and the air was nice too but it was just missing that all out intensity of the top 3. Dare I say some spots even felt force less 5. Nitro- I thought this ride sucked when I first rode it but some front seat rides changed that. The floater air is so nice and relaxing and the helix is so intense and the bunny hop run back to the station is amazing. 6. Afterburn- This ride surprised me so much. It's so insanely intense in the back seat. I thought the batwing was going to rip my arms outta my sockets. Seriously underrated coaster 7. Intimidator- All this ride really has going great for it is the floater air. I wish it wasn't so trimmed and because it's so trimmed it's basically force less. And the pacing really sucks 8. Comet (Great Escape)- It's been almost 5 years since I've ridden it but I remember it having some nice airtime and being pretty smooth. It got some spots retracked this year so I'd like to get back to Lake George to ride it. 9. Kingda Ka- I don't care what anyone says. This ride is absolutely mind blowing in the front row. The launch is so insanely powerful it just pins you to the seat peels your eyelids back and tries to rip your face off. Such an unbelievable experience. 10. Batman the Ride (GADv)- I only rode it when it was backwards and I really want to try it again with it forwards because Great Adventure regulars say it is completely amazing. -
I just saw the wait times on the app and was shocked. I'll be at the park for the first time next Friday I was thinking a flash pass wouldn't be necessary but looking at the wait times today, I may have to spring for one. Thats terrible. Was hoping for a slow day with lots of Wicked Cyclone and Superman. You did confirm my suspicion of the lines being due to school groups. Damn you young kids ! Yeah you'll definitely need one I have a feeling there will be a lot next week too. I know my sister's school has a trip there next Friday so I bet it will be just as bad. A few tips for the park. Ride Goliath toward the front if you can. The ride has assigned seating but since you have a flashpass you'll have a decent chance at the front. Its completely awful anywherw else. Ride Superman in the front 2 rows. It's not as good as it used to be in the back. Ride Wicked Cyclone in the back seat left side.

I picked a bad day to go to the park. There's school trips EVERYWHERE! Every food line is as long as possible. Superman's line is to the set of switchbacks closest to the lockers and Goliaths is probably about 2 hours. Feel bad for those dumbasses who are waiting for that just to get there spines smashed to smithereens.

Just a thought I had reading the Great Adventure thread and reading a few HITP TRs, could Intamin provide a set of wheels for Superman that allow it to run in the cold like B&M does for Nitro? Obviously this wouldn't happen this year but maybe in the future even tho the DC area is easy to cut off. Reading some GRadv TRs Nitro in the freezing cold sounds ridiculously awesome and if SFNE adopted GAdvs amazing weather policy I could see it happen.

Top/Favorite Hyper Coasters

1. Superman (SFNE)- So far in 2017 they have this ride running amazingly well again. The airtime is amazing, the helixes are intense, the tunnels are awesome, the drop is awesome. If only they could get rid of those bad trains and bring back the old ones, it'd definitely be my #1 overall. 2. Fury 325- This ride is really really overrated but still great. It's got a good drop but I honestly like Superman's better. The only spot where I thought it was forceful was the treble clef but I can't stress how amazing the treble clef is. The airtime is pretty nice at the end too. The helix felt out of place and didn't really do much for me. Great ride but no where near as good as people say. 3. Nitro- I'll be honest the first time I rode this ride I rode it in the back and thought it kinda sucked. Then, I rode it in the front and fell in love with it. The floater air is amazing, the bunny hops after the MCBR are amazing, and the helix is so insanely forceful. A night ride in the front is unbelievable. 4. Intimidator- Kinda like with Nitro, I thought it was a bit weak in the back. Then I rode it in the front and I really enjoyed it. The floater are is great but that's all the ride really has going for it. It's mostly force less and the trims really kill it. Still a fun coaster tho. I'll be able to add I305 and Skyrush to this list hopefully later this year. Can't wait! -
Are the days of horrible Six Flags ops over?
Chasehat replied to Mr. Corn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
They've improved tremendously at SFNE this year for sure. Superman's crew is awesome this year. -
I've had my fair share of waiting in 3+ hour lines for Superman at SFNE. But 2 I remember in particular, one year during fright fest (It was Bizarro then) it was in the Superman switchbacks which is near the entrance where the lockers are. Then last year I went with someone who had never ridden it so we stuck out a 3 and half-4 hour line because of VR to ride it, in the 90 degee heat. So now unless the entire park is slammed and everything else has a long line I won't wait more than an hour for it.

OK so me and my friend are having a debate on whether back or front seat is better on El Toro. I think the back (especially 2nd to last) is the best he thinks front is. Now he thinks I'm to only one who likes it better back there but I know for fact about 95% of people on this forum would take it in the back right?

I have never dared to look down while riding Zumie lol. I'm always looking straight on towards Nitro. I remember riding it for the first time at night last year and being so scared lmao. By the time we reached to about eye level with Nitro I realized oh shit were only half way up scariest damn thing I've ever done tbh but it's one of the most awesome feelings ever. That's why VR on this ride is so stupid.
-
Little late to the party of bashing VR but seriously, why Zumanjaro. One I hate spiders, two I'd probably have a panic attack being 415 feet in the air with Goggles strapped to my face, and 3 the best part of Zumie is the breathtaking view. Why would any one want to do VR when you get an amazing view of the park and Philly in the distance. I wish they would just give up with the VR sh*t.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I may be hitting up KD for the first time ever later this summer. Any tips for the park and where should I sit on I305 for the best first ride? -
Was at the park today for a few hours. Holy hell are Superman and Wicked Cyclone are running awesome. Superman felt almost butter smooth like it was as SROS. Almost no rattle in the back on the blue train today. And Wicked Cyclone just gets better and better every time I ride it. Ops on both coasters are also much faster than they've ever been. Kudos to SFNE they've made some awesome improvements to the park this year.

I doubt SFNE would remove a coaster for a flat ride or a group of flat rides (even tho they should in Flashbacks case). I wish they would remove both FB and Goliath for a better coaster over the midway. Before Mind Eraser got new trains I wouldve said put an Intamin Blitz in Mind Erasers spot that interacts with terrain between DC and the South End. But Mind Eraser is fun now so I don't mind it.

What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
Chasehat replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've only been on 33 coasters and been to 4 parks but here's mine. 1.Superman the Ride (SFNE). This ride has everything I want in a coaster. 221 foot drop, 9 moments of airtime, especially the camelback before the S Shields. An over bank turn with good positive g's. 2 helices with very strong positive g's and 2 mist filled underground tunnels. What more could you ask for. 2. El Toro. Strongest airtime on any coaster Ive ridden. The crossover is insane and its just balls to the walls crazy. 3.Fury 325. I found it kinda overrated. Still a fantastic ride with a great drop and lots of speed, but it felt like it was lacking something. I didnt find it all that forceful apart from the treble clef. It had some good air at the end. 4.Wicked Cyclone. Like El Toro this has some downright violent airtime. It has great halftime also. My only problem is that it lacks really good positive G's 5.Afterburn. I hadn't heard much of this ride before I went to Carowinds. Holy hell is this ride some kind of intense. 6.Intimidator. This was better than I expected after hearing it was just meh. It had even good floater airtime even with the trims. Only down side is that it's pretty much force less. 7.Nitro. A bit of a let down but was still a good ride. The floater air was really mild but it was really smooth and the helix was intense. 8.Bizarro (GADV). Nothing much to say except it was a fun floor less 9.Kingda Ka. It might get hate for being a bit shaky and having OSTRs but man what an adrenaline rush 10.Comet (TGE).Very underrated fun woodie with good ejector air. -
