  1. It is indeed very sad. As far as I am aware only the trains were saved from the demolition. Apparently all signs inside the station were scrapped. I have a hard time thinking some organizations such as ACE didn't step in drastically to save the Blue Streak. I know in the past they did and have been monumental in keeping the coaster up. I know some people just think its time had come but I am sure more could have been done. Obviously the pandemic is somewhat a bit responsible for the outcome. Had it not been for the pandemic and the closure of the park in 2020 I think CLP would still be in business. The park was profitable and the Blue Streak received new track work on the lift hill in the Fall of 2019, which the trains never rolled on. I guess the pandemic, and, the sale to the wrong new owner are the cause of all this. We certainly can blame him for many things, but he was the only bidder at the sale of the park. Last Fall the Knoebels were seen at the park purchasing some stuff like benches...etc. I just wish they would have stepped in to save and or relocate the Blue Streak. They are the best at doing this. But again I ackowledge the coaster was not in the best shape and it was maybe just as much money to relocate it than to build brand new. What makes it more sad and frustrating in this whole story is that the owner Todd Joseph never spoke the truth about the park. He seemed to hate it and wanted to get rid of the amusement park as soon as he purchased it. Had he been transparent all along, the people and the community would be more accepting of the outcome, and some stuff from the Blue Streak could have been saved and auctionned off. The Blue Streak had a lot of history with it. It's the least he could have done.
  2. Apparently the Devil's Den, Carousel and kiddie rides will stay for this season.
  3. I am wondering what will happen next! Will they keep the Hotel Conneaut? Some amusement rides? Will they build new homes right away this summer!?
  4. For sure pretty much everything was quite delapidated. Glad I went in 2005 and 2017! They should be able to sell the carousel. Devil Den might not be as easy to disassemble and rebuild.
  5. The station and what was left of the lift hill were demolished today.
  6. https://www.erienewsnow.com/story/45579421/conneaut-lake-parks-blue-streak-catches-fire
  7. So sad to hear this but not surprising! I am sure a lot of people saw it coming. I really hope they investigate on the cause of fire.
  8. RIP Stan and thank you for all the innovation you brought to the industry.
  9. If it's as intense and smooth as the West Edmonton Mall's Mindbender, it will be awesome! The WEM Mindbender is one hell of a coaster! Quite INTENSE!
  10. You have to keep in mind wooden coasters are very temperamental. The weather, humidity, time of day, where you sit etc.... all affect the ride experience.
  11. Maintenance, layout, quality of design and fabrication all play into whether a wooden coaster will age well. Aggressive layouts, IMO, have to have a forgiveble structure so that the structure is not too stiff, allowing some sway as the train travels on the tracks. The way it is braced is really important, more so on intense layouts. And of course the trains must be appropriate for the coaster they serve. All very curvy, twisted layouts SHOULD have articulated trains. PTC box train cars sould only be on out and back layouts with mostly straight hills, not on twisters!
  12. Is there another train option!? PTC trains are heavy and harsh on tracks. As soon as the tracks become a little loose those trains beat them pretty good. Bring back the light and spacious Morgan trains!
  13. It's almost a miracle the park was able to operate for so long! It could have closed definetly a few times but somehow it just kept coming back to life! But I think this time is the end.
  14. You are probably right unless someone else is buying the property. Apparently he was considering reselling the whole property, but at a high price. As much as I would want that place to come back alive with the Blue Streak, sadly I think it is pretty much over.
  15. I know Fredd Grubb is retiring and has sold the company to Darren Torr. I do not think Schilke has retired.
  16. No news for a while! Anyone heard anything? Are the trains still on the tracks? Is Blue Streak still standing!?
  17. At least it wasn't scrapped! Those Vekoma corkscrews with bayern curve are getting pretty rare.
  18. I am wondering if they are still moving ahead with track modifications for Predator!?
  19. I agree. They need one and I think they should have kept Corkscrew! I know the pandemic changed their plans and at this point they probably wish they didn't get rid of it. La Ronde did the same with their Corkscrew except they didn't bother selling it they scrapped it instead! Who bought the Playland Corkscrew?
  20. They need a looping coaster. Any Scharzkopft double loop coaster for sale!?
  21. Any used large coaster they are removing at other parks would be good for the park. Cedar point's Wicked Twister would have been perfect.
  22. Yes they should definetly get a new coaster. Something big. Playland needs one. They could get a used one too.
  23. The owner Todd Joseph has already started to tear down the tunnel of the Blue Streak! It seems he is trying to get cars off the track.
