Thanks for both reports! Great updates. I will post on this thread, since people are saddened by the lack of work being done and haven't been posting here as much. I am truly shocked that the part through the firehouse was obviously not thought of to the fullest. I mean, what if they couldn't structurally take any more apart than they previously had to fit that sucker through? That would be a Total Epic Fail! (Ok, move the ride...it has to go into another part of the park! <-- Yeah, ok.) I know that I am a bit repetitive, but I truly hope they fix this, and fix it fast. I feel that if I keep saying that, maybe it will happen!

Thanks. Oh wow... that really sucks. I just read in the BMRS topic that one of Nitro's cars are still stuck on the track. That really blows. It is not my favorite ride there, that first drop just doesn't like me. But I definitely wouldn't want to miss riding it while there. OH, Josh, (or anyone) those lockers... do they ask for crazy $$? I finally used the ones in Florida last year. They were pretty reasonable. It would be great to bring my Nikon D40x and not worry that someone will take it while I am riding.

That last pic will not show. I will have to remember to check it out another time. Cool Pics! I have never seen the park THAT empty before! lol. I totally love the colors for Bizarro! Although I am kind of surprised they have yet another comic book coaster in yet another part of the park... but I have always loved Medusa as a ride. In the end, who cares what the name is. What a bummer that all the rides were not working. If you do not mind my asking, what is valley-out? (Or whatever the term is). I have never heard that one before. Great PTR! (Cool sneakers too!)

The winds are totally crazy today. It is almost four and they are still going like crazy. On the ground it doesnt feel that bad, but I was on the roof of a mall, and I live on the second floor....it is really whipping out there. Plus, it is really chilly for over 50 degrees. I hope everything ended up opening! I have never been to SFGA with such a dismal outcome. Then again, I have never been there where any rides were closed, minus KK (because 2005 was just the year of Ka problems), oh, and Chiller, which really was ALWAYS closed, minus the one time I rode it. Big Mike, you are more than welcome to join me earlier than Aug 15th, because I will be there May 16th. The weather will be warmer, and the crowds should still be minimal. Granted Bizarro still won't be open, so that may keep people back. edit: I keep forgetting to check the signature!! GRRRR...

I know this was just found, but has anyone come across this any bigger than this? I am trying to read everything, and it is just too small. This ride is really turning out beautiful! I cannot wait to see the inside. As far as the buildings not being big, I think that the queue may start going down, before it goes up! Sub levels equal more room! That is the impression the artwork leaves me anyway.

Favorite Photos YOU Have Taken
Lenaapple1974 replied to Homer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OK, so the Wishes one isn't that fab... but I love the colors. Now here are the rest, because it wasn't allowing me more than two!!! GRRR!! First, this is the Ferris Wheel at Great Adventure. Pretty standard shot, but it came out really cool. I always look back at it thinking I should be more artsy. This one is Nitro's lift hill. It is a very impressive thing to look at while under it! Swings at Hersheypark. One of my favorite amusement type pics Now here is my fave two pics from SFGA. The before shot: The after shot! (Which do you like better? lol) Out of the zillions of pics I have, that is it to share. My goal is to be artsy this year and come back and post more. -

JamminJ, I totally agree with you, and I find myself back in this topic again, thinking of my favorite pictures I would like to share with everyone. Last time I shared the funniest picture I ever took, my friends and family on the HULK, and one was screaming her head off. Now, I would like to share some of my favorite theme park pics from the last four years... It is a very good thing I only have really been to SFGA and Hersheypark, and that I really haven't done the artsy thing much. This would have also have been alot harder if it were just a any photo topic. LOL So here are my faves..... This was actually an accident. Taking the pic of my family this time out, I was trying to "find" them on the Hulk. I like the look of this picture Wishes at WDW. -
Hey Mike, I just remembered something. When we meet up for SFGA in August... that I have never been on Kingda Ka! I am thinking that for my premiere on the BMRS 2009, that I may possibly conquer my FEAR of KK! I do not like the high drops, so as a result, I have stayed away from that ride. I do love El Toro though. Nitro's first drop, not so much, but I do ride every time.

Yes, six flags posted this today: "A Great Adventure on a Bizarro ride Theme park bases coaster on supervillain By Keith Ruscitti • TOMS RIVER BUREAU • April 1, 2009 JACKSON — For nearly seven months, roller coaster buffs nationwide have been trying to piece together the new theme of Six Flags Great Adventure amusement park's floorless thrill ride. To those detectives who had Bizarro in the office pool, you win. Appropriately, executives at Six Flags Inc., the parent company of Great Adventure, chose to unveil its new roller coaster theme and design on April Fool's Day. And the announcement culminates a months-long viral marketing campaign that captured the fancy of thousands of Internet detectives and amusement park aficionados. "It's a way to get a buzz among coaster enthusiasts," said Jim Futrell, author and historian for National Amusement Park Historical Association. "This did create quite a buzz." Since closing the Great Adventure and Six Flags New England theme parks last fall for the season, the company spent the winter months transforming the popular Medusa roller coasters. The company hired the innovative marketing firm 42 Entertainment to help promote the ride's reopening. Part of the strategy was to release clues to the new theme through Twitter, Internet blogs and chat rooms. Copies of The Daily Planet were inserted in weekly and daily publications in the eastern region. The Daily Planet, the newspaper featured in the Superman comics series — provided clues to the thematic transformation of the roller coaster. The end result of the transformation was a closely guarded secret among park officials. According to 42 Entertainment CEO and President Susan Bonds, about 500,000 people were exposed to the Internet-based campaign. The firm estimates about 15 to 20 percent of those have been playing along in the alternative reality game. Futrell said the same strategy was used successfully in 2007-08 by Hershey Park (Pa.), management to promote it's new roller coaster — Fahrenheit. Bizarro has been one of the central characters in the Superman comics series since 1958. DC Comics, the creator of Superman, worked in conjunction with the promotion. Riders of the roller coaster will get briefed on the mysterious background of the Bizarro character prior to stepping onto the roughly 3 1/2-minute trip. "What better way to represent such a twisted, exciting character like Bizarro than with such a twisting, exciting roller coaster?" said Cheryl Rubin, DC Comics senior vice president of brand management in an e-mail. Great Adventure spokeswoman Angel Aristone said some of the refurbishing includes a new sound system to enhance the ride. The park opens for the season on Saturday. However, the coaster won't be open to ride until a still-to-be determined date in May, said Aristone."

SFMM PTR March 24 (Lots of Pics)
Lenaapple1974 replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am most definitely in agreement here! Great PTR. I loved the queue shots, and all of the things I seem to forget to take pictures of at parks. I see a coaster, and I am like OOOHH... picture, picture! But then I get home and think... DAMN...all I have is coasters! lol. I truly hope that SFGA is empty like that when I go in May. It is before Medusa opens again, so hopefully I will have minimal waits. I wish I could visit SFMM... maybe one day! -
Hi title fairy! I have been thinking for days and days about what I could possibly change my title to. I cannot think of anything. So I was hoping you could make one up for me. Being you do not physically know me, here are some tidbits about me that could help! I love taking pics (family, friends, things...) I love going to Orlando to do the "touristy" things I walk really fast - people called me Road Runner I multi task like crazy My daughter is 16 and my son is 13. I am always asked if I am their sister. I am married Coasters are my new love! (Flyers are my favorite!) Family is important to me I guess that is enough fuel for the fire! Thank you Title Fairy!

Lenaapple1974 replied to Electerik's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Erik, you know what I will be saying... fab pics! lol. I love your eye! Thank you for showing what else is at Busch Gardens Tampa. I do not think I have seen much other than coasters on previous reports. -
Awesome update! Thank you for going and checking on this for everyone! It is people like you that make us drool! I am with you on the crane issues. Maybe that is why they were hauling arse the last few days with the construction of the loop and beginning of the drop. They probably wanted to get as much done as they possibly could before they needed to return the crane... I am an optimist also. Hopefully there are no major issues with the stuff being done to the loop. Also, we have seen just how fast structures can be brought up. I think that the fire house facade should be up in plenty of time for opening day! (Hopefully that will still be the first noted day)

Nice PTR! It was definitely great to look at, and left me wanting more! Great White looks awesome! I love Batman: The Ride! The one at SFGA goes so fast by the end of the day, your head spins! I would love to get a crack at that ride. What is the deal with JTA though? Do you go down the drop backwards? That turntable thing is weird. LOL. I think they should have themed it better. The whole ride is so short. IMO, if they are going to keep the name, they should at least try and clone it. If not, then change the name! Shamu stadium is huge compared to the one in Orlando. Does the seating arrangement take away from the show as a whole?

I really like this pic of DD. Thank you for sharing your day with us. It did seem rather crowded! I was there last July, and it was really packed as well. This park is fun though. To me, still worth the waits. I totally cannot wait for the construction to finish, and for there to be more to love at this park!
