Ok, so I missed the one in the nutcrackers mouth, which stinks for me, unless the one I THOUGHT I saw really wasn't there...in that case it is all good. I am not posting repeat pictures of where I saw the duckies, instead I will post pics of the ones that I haven't seen yet.... in front of the rim/hubcap on the railroad tie... it is blocking the "hole" in the rim/hub cap.. (I think) lol this is the one where I am not positive there was one.. in the shadow on the ride next to the box...

I love all this stuff! You are all awesome for taking the time to put it together. I sometimes feel so lost with the construction, and while I see the pictures, my mind just can't seem to comprehend everything yet. The construction walls keep my mind from realizing what it is maybe... LOL. But really... any which way, it will all be fabulous I think... I keep saying that, but this THEME PARK really makes me just want to get lost inside it all. As far as Sinbad, I finally got to see that last year. Nothing special that is for sure. I feel like there is a wasted space there. It definitely can be put to better use.

OK, so maybe drinking some wine before looking for the Kitty Duckie wasn't a very wise idea... but I swear I saw 6 duckies. I am pretty certain I will miss my chances of winning 1st prize, due to my lack of Mikestry cards though, so it is all good! And it wouldn't be fair if we are at SFGA together, for me to try and find one there, knowing where you had been. And since I already will have two super vacations this year, I will forfeit my chances of winning that grand prize. So I am only guessing for fun. *Almost forgot, if you ever retire Kitty Duckie, I am sure she would love a home in Maspeth!! (hint hint!) I totally love this duckie!

I hope this fits into the regular Theme Parks, Roller Coasters & Donkeys! section. I debated this for a bit actually, and decided since this post is to take successful pics at the theme parks, I ended up here. I am looking into underwater cameras. While I really want to take as many pics with my Nikon D40X to share with all you guys, I need to be realistic and know that I cannot take this into Aquatica, Wet N Wild, or on any of the water rides without the risk of killing it. I mean, imagine I go on Rip Saw Falls, and didn't know what I was getting myself into? So I want this camera to be able to go into the water. Not to really be submerged, but on occasion, I let it just linger on my arm and drag in the water in the lazy river. I ususally use those one time use things, that never seem to come out clear b/c there was some suntan lotion you didn't notice until 3/4 of the way through the film. I honestly do not want to be bothered with film cameras this trip either. I take way too many pictures for that! My goal is to have an uber successful PTR for you guys when I get back! I really know nothing of the brands that are out there. But there are some cheaper ones, and some really expensive ones, I am hoping for your opinions. So this is where you all come in. I wanted to know what do you use? It is a month before my trip, I really do not want to spend too much, but I will be getting three or four one time use water cameras then, plus the developing. I am thinking that I can get something that is OK, without going overboard. Any advice? HELP!! Thanks in advance. [/i]

Nice PTR's! Your phone takes pretty cool pics. Is it me, or is El Toro fading really badly? I didn't get to go last year at all, and last I saw it was still that woodie brown. In the pics from the first day, it looks grey! Medusa did need that paint job oh so badly. I always liked the coaster though. Definitely one of my faves. The new paint job is in my two fave colors too, so it is only an improvement to me, no matter what they call it now.. I think that is just hilarious that the GP thinks it is a brand new ride. I just hope the line isn't too bad when I go. It used to always be a walk on, pretty much anyhow. Now, I am not a big fan of old woodies. In your opinion (anyones really), where is the best place to sit on the woodies in HersheyPark? Last year, I did not ride b/c I tend to be chicken. I rode Great Bear, and really didn't make it too much further into the park before deciding to turn around. It is way too huge! I am splitting it into two days this year, and should be working from the back to the gate. Any advice? -
King_K, thanks for those photos! That is an angle of DD that I have never seen before... in a picture that is. (I think.. is it from the lift?) I would love a full size copy of them to put on my desktop at work! I have been making the new coasters/additions my desktop for inspiration! I feel that even though there are changes with all the HP stuff, from update to update, I almost can't recognize the new stuff. LOL.

Definitely some great rider shots there! I love the expressions of some of the riders. It makes me wonder who likes to ride, who is on a dare, who is riding that for their first time... lol. -
^They should make an indoor flying coaster then... Dig up soe earth, make it almost sublevel, and then they can theme the outside however they would like to keep it pretty. How is it with basements over there? Erik, great update! Even though there weren't as many pics, they are still great! I love the onride pics!!! I have yet to watch the video, but I am sure it will be great also! I have to also disagree about the pretzle loop being the worst element. I love that element, hence making the flyer my fave type of coaster. I think Manta will be high up on my list as a result. I am going on the front first though. Trying to think back, I am not sure if I ever rode S:UF in the back....

Well, this makes sense why you see it the way you do. The coasters may be on the outside for IOA, however, it is themed in the queue. If you are visiting, I would definitely visit, then come back and tell us again, how you feel this is not a theme park. Each area is themed, down to the rocks. It was great hearing everyone's varying opinion also on what makes a theme park as opposed to an amusement park! Disney is its own brand for sure, but Busch parks (or whatever they are now) can hold their own. It is just done slightly differently. I'd wait for the visit... Any HP updates? I agree, very entertaining while we wait for something new.

I think that there are huge differences between an Amusement park, and a Theme park. The biggest difference would be that an Amusement parks rides are clearly low budget ones, that can be taken apart easily, slightly better than or not even better than a typical "county" fair. Theme parks are all built very well, stationary rides, with theming, whether in the open or not. IOA is just amazing, as each area is themed very well, down to the music as you pass through the individual gates. I can only imagine WWoHP doing nothing but bringing the same magic to this already pimped out Theme park.

I have no words for this AMAZING update. Thank you! I know things are going to be moving at a quick pace now, with only about a year left. Thinking about when they start building just a coaster, and how long it takes for it to open, imagine a whole "land", and the progress that has to be made. I cannot wait to get a glimpse of the construction in July. The last time I was there, they were just ripping down the Enchanted Oak!
-
Shellemonster, great update! Some of those pictures are mucho delicioso! So, it sounds almost official now. I will be there during this time! Now, what would be better, avoiding the park on that day, or going and enjoying the media!? Anyone ever go to a media day event in Orlando before? What happens?

For 2006 we all got a season pass for Great Adventure. And this year, we really got our monies worth! From the parking lot Oh, there is a picture of the Road Runner! Must…. Take……… picture with We almost forgot to take our pic Then we can be on our way to the first TRADITIONAL ride of the day - NITRO. Who me? NO WAY JOSE… not yet anyhow. I will remain on the other side of this fence today. Chicken wings from my brother.. how nice Now lets ride Batman… Climb up the tin can… And there you have it… Wait…something is different here… Look, something new… Its made of wood! It’s very loud - actually, it wasn’t open yet I think….This was May 7th…. So probably not. My daughter and I Let’s catch them on the log flume Going DOWN! We call this train ride WOO WOO. Long story short, and it was extremely funny at the time - but my brother was making the crazy sign with his finger saying woo woo woo… and smacked his hand with the antennae. (keep your arms inside the vehicle at all times…DUH!) So, with that, it became Woo woo. I don’t know if I even know the real name to it… Blackbeard’s mine train maybe. LOL It is a you had to be there sort of thing Chiller cars Flat fun And now some sky ride shots. I do not know, but I think these rickety things either need to be replaced, or torn down! Very scary! And this concludes my first SFGA trip for the year 2006. J Finally some coaster shots, huh? -
Photo Trip Report - Cedar Point and Geauga Lake 1977
Lenaapple1974 replied to edboxer's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
edboxer, Awesome pics! Thank you for sharing! I totally love looking at parks back in the day. This is one park that I wish I have been to... one day. Emiroo - I hope you post those old pics! Esp Disneyland. I went in 82, and we moved from Cali to NY, and someone stole a bunch of our stuff... incl. photo albums from about 81-83. I was little, but I have this fascination with Disney parks... I'd love to see them! -

Posting these pics has been fun so far! Thanks for all the encouragement! Big Mike, that would be cool to see all the ToT pics. You can post them here if you like, linking them from this thread from the BMRS 2009! (You can bring more traffic my way perhaps? lol) I think I shall be fine on KK.. My nerves may be slightly shot though. I'm willing to make that sacrifice to help the BMRS ratings though. I decided in an effort to improve on my photo taking skills in the parks this summer, I am going to offer my services, and take requests for pictures. Reasonable pictures that is.. I can only imagine what can of worms that could open up… but as an example.. A specific ride, or angles, queues, or all gift shops I pass, entrances to the park…and so on. Maybe there is something else you all want to see? I will do my best to fill the requests. What do people seem to miss on their trips? The parks will be: Six Flags Great Adventure SeaWorld Orlando Universal Studios Orlando Islands of Adventure Busch Gardens (Tampa, I can never remember if it is E or A) Wet N Wild Aquatica HersheyPark Now, let’s return back in time, we are still in the year 2005. Now that I have conquered my first upside down ride… I am ready to venture out to Six Flags Great Adventure. Some family and I decide to go for my daughters birthday, October 30, 2005, which is during Fright Fest.. This is the year she turned 13. (WOW… I almost can’t believe it). And without a story… off we go! On the road again… here is the Verrazano Narrows Bridge… I always wanted a GOOD picture of it. Not from this angle though… Our signature photo. My daughter and sister in front of the fountain, with its FF Red, I mean bloody water Pre rehab… I just liked the way this looked.. What kind of theming is this… nasty spider thing. UGH. Yeah yeah, make fun of me… whatever! (Remember guys, I wasn’t riding Nitro at this point in time yet.) I mean, dude - that lift is 205 feet in the air!! This actually was the longest line we ever waited on for it. And off they go! Always making fun of me. (3rd row) Guess what? ………………………………...................................... It wasn’t running!! We had the best time on the Music Express, or whatever they call it here. Does anyone know why they do not let them go backwards anymore? I felt gypped. My camera just got some crazy shots this day. (Still using the Kodak DX7630) Before the beauty arrived My favorite ride in the park at the time 6pm… do you know where the creeps are? This was my sister at the threat of bringing her near the arcade area. The theme this year…CLOWNS. This dude was clanging some metal something or other every now and again… ouch! Maze entrance Line for one of the mazes - these girls were starting trouble, and were pushing and yelling the whole time we were waiting. In the maze. More like a path. And I end this trip with our Six Flags portrait Next up from my 1TB hard drive is......Great Adventure! (I went alot in 2006 - coaster overdrive) I will probably post SFGA 2006 in one post though. -
OK, I think I somehow almost missed something, instead thinking about how low some peoples morals are these days. Sexual favors for a kiddie coaster? Geez... I am glad you stayed on the straight and narrow on that one. They could have been scary, just as easily as babes. There could be a reason they didn't show them to you before you accepted. But somewhere along the line I missed out that you are going to Coney Island May 23rd? Whew, I almost thought I got my timeline mixed up there for a second. How could another park be named that? It is just wrong. So speaking of good 'ol Coney Island, when is the Brooklyn arrival expected this year again? I need to write it down in my calendar. The days have filled up quite quickly. Just not between July 1 to July 11. We are doing the drive to Orlando remember... (sadly, Hollywood Studios is not on the itinerary this year, just Flex Pass Plus parks... so ToT will have to wait. I have bigger um.. fish to fry. )

Lena's Mix of trips!
Lenaapple1974 replied to Lenaapple1974's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
LOL. I now do go on big rides... Just not ToT. I haven't been back there since. The thing with me is, that I do not like things that go straight down. It does something horrible to my stomach. I actaully have been looking for someone to describe ToT as best as possible. Is it really a free fall type of ride? How far does it fall? That kind of thing. Back home, I have yet to go on Kingda Ka as a result. I didn't go on Nitro for two years because of its 1st drop. I over came Nitro, now KK will hopefully be conquered in Aug with Big Mike.
