  1. I haven't tried the combo or double shot tower, but a bunch of parks I'm going to have double shot towers, so I'll find out. They're short, but I've heard very great things about them. As for the space shot vs. turbo drop debate, I'd have to choose the turbo drop hands down! The airtime is awesome on it. And the drop is so fast that I'm literally speechless every time, and for me that feeling is rare. That sort of freaks me out.
  2. ^^I think that Impulse is actually better. Not as much airtime (except for the 0-g roll), but I thought Fahrenheit wasn't as forceful. And Impulse has the best lap bars ever made aside from the B&M clam-shells, and smoother track.
  3. ^Don't worry about weather, they run most of the coasters in the pouring rain. If you have a strict schedule with the rides you want to get on, the crowds won't mess up your day too much. But it's very hard to predict how crowded the park will be.
  4. Fahrenheit is a really fun ride. It's got some great airtime moments, and the inversions are pretty good. But I'd only ride it once. It has a low capacity, and in my opinion, you have 4 coasters in the same exact park that are better. (Storm Runner, Skyrush, Lightning Racer, Great Bear)
  5. It says that the Soak City early entry is about a half-hour before opening, so I think the regular park would also be that way. I'm not really sure either, since I'm going for the first time this season. But I think that would be the most likely time.
  6. OMG!! Did Bill just stumble across the solution to some of the recent "forceless" B&M coasters?!? They forgot to add FLOUR to their design recipe!!
  7. What happened to Wave Swinger? If they removed it, then that sucks. It's the fastest Wave Swinger out there, to the point that it's actually disorienting and forceful! One possibility is that it could be going through some refurbishment or not set up for the season yet. Because I don't really see how it would interfere with Phobia.
  8. The singing mushrooms are the greatest musical artist of our generation. They're going to be the next highly-acclaimed band by all of the coolest hipsters. Look out, Death Grips, the mushrooms are coming! I love you, mushrooms.
  9. ^I actually think those first two ideas could actually be possible, especially the Dubai prediction. The other possibilities would be our worst nightmare!
  10. So I took my first trip to Dorney Park today, and it was really great! The weather was decent, only a slight drizzle for about 20 minutes. And I got to do everything I wanted to do and more, and some re-rides! The longest line I waited on was 10 minutes for Hydra, and the park wasn't very crowded. Everything else was a walk-on. The park is clean, and has some really nice scenery and old-school charm combined with a Cedar Fair coaster-park feel. It's a nice mix. The operations were extremely slow, but that didn't matter today. The workers were very friendly, though. Here is the ride list: Steel Force x 2 - front, back rows - This was a really fun ride with lots of floater airtime and a great helix. It's simple and not too intense, but fun. It's my second-favorite ride in the park. Possessed - back row - Not as good as Wicked Twister, and had a slight rattle, but it's still really good. Stinger - row 6 - This was a huge surprise! It has great forces and was surprisingly smooth for a Vekoma. I would recommend it, actually. Thunderhawk - front row - This is a really good-looking coaster with the new paint and the good location. There are a few really nice airtime moments. The transitions are obviously awkward and jerky, but there isn't much of a rattle. The trim at the end is what keeps it from being a really great coaster, and just a nice family coaster. Demon Drop - This thing feels so sketchy, but it was so much fun! Thunder Creek Mountain - This was a really good flume. It would be perfect in the summer. Hydra - back row - There are some forceful parts, but it's really about the gracefulness and the hang-time. The first drop is awesome in the back, and the terrain interaction is what made the ride! Meteor - These rides are always great. TALON x 5 - 3 rides in the back, 2 in the front - This is the best ride in the park! It's strong and forceful, and the inversions have some whip to them. There are two moments of floater air in the back, and I love how the ride stays close to the ground with the trees. It's another great B&M invert. Enterprise - It's an enterprise, so it's great. Apollo - I haven't been on one of these before. It's no Downdraft, but it's a good family ride. Whip - This is one of the better whips I've been on. Not as good as the one at Kennywood, but it's my second-favorite whip. Dominator - This is a solid tower. It's more about the launch, the drop isn't very intense. Dominator - The S&S towers that shoot you down are always far superior than the launched ones in my opinion. The airtime is fantastic! Monster - This one ran a really long cycle, and it felt faster than the other ones I've done. Revolution - The one here runs with a very short cycle. I actually got 1/4 of a cycle before the actual ride, since I think the ride operator didn't press the pedal, which keeps the ride going. The worker was young, and the older guy who was in charge of them had to bring him aside and give him a harsh talk. So this was a great first visit, and I can't wait to come back!
  11. I actually like Boulder Dash a little bit more. And Lake Compounce is a really great park. Honestly, I in my opinion, Palace Entertainment with LC and Kennywood alone wrecks the whole Six Flags chain.
  12. ^This is why I have such a love/hate relationship with this park. They have two masterpieces, Superman and Wicked Cyclone, a good amount of decent fun coasters like Goliath (It's rough, but that makes it so chaotic), The Dark Knight, Thunderbolt (Pretty underrated family ride), and Pandemonium. That on top of a decent thrill ride lineup should make this a great half-day park. But the operations are just so terrible! Superman was the last ride in the park where you could choose a seat, but they somehow found a way to mess that up, too. And the operators are so stupid and slow, especially the Thunderbolt crew. The park really has SO MUCH potential, but they just don't use it!
  13. I've had lots of coaster experiences with rain, since Six Flags Great Adventure can run most of their coasters in pretty much any weather. I love riding coasters in the rain! My most recent experience was on Wooden Warrior at Quassy, I rode it with my friends about 20 times in a row. I absolutely love that ride, but it's even better in the rain.
  14. It's hit or miss. Sometimes they run everything, sometimes they close every single ride in the park except the Seadragon for absolutely no god damn reason. Maybe they think because it looks like a boat it can run in the rain. Last time we went in a light drizzle that was literally the only thing open, including the water rides. Alright, thanks for the heads up. As long as I get to ride Talon, I'll be a happy man. Only other B&M Invert I've ridden is the Great Bear at Hershey, which was rather underwhelming. Can't wait to (possibly) ride Talon. It now seems like the rain shouldn't be too bad. It looks like there's probably going to be some moments of light rain in the morning and start of the afternoon. So it looks like we'll get a chance to do most of the important rides at some point throughout the day tomorrow.
  15. I would do Exterminator and the lower-capacity rides first. I would highly recommend the VIP coaster tour pass, since I used the evening pass last season, and it was great. it lets you do each major coaster once with a specific schedule. What I did was I got on most of the rides in the morning when the lines weren't very long, then I got the VIP tour for extra night rides. It's only about $15, so it's really worth it.
  16. I actually enjoyed Black Widow slightly more than MaxAir. You have to ride it! In my opinion, giant frisbees/giant discoveries DESTROY any drop tower, even Zumanjaro and the Larson towers.
  17. I'd have to agree actually. This forum should be used to post things the GP said that, as enthusiasts, we would find funny or weird. But now it's mostly just people being assholes to their friends behind their backs. And whenever I go harsh on a GP, I make sure they have it coming, like the Lake Compounce sex story kid or the people who write inaccurate reviews to make a scene and get attention on TripAdvisor. I think we should bring this thread back to being less negative and more funny.
  18. King Dacka and Kilimanjaro: Drop of Doom. That's probably all I have to say.
  19. Son of Beast! It's probably a worse ride, but I wish I could try it since it is such a legendary failure. Grona Lund or Blackpool Pleasure Beach?
  20. I'm going to the park for the first time on Saturday 21. I would have rather gone on Sunday, but there's a private event, so I figured that the lines would still be okay after being on this thread for a while. I'm planning on getting there around 10 when the park opens. Does anybody have tips? Here is what my plan is for getting on all the rides I'm interested in: Possessed, Stinger (if it's open), Revolution, Steel Force, Thunderhawk, Demon Drop, Thunder Creek Mountain (if it's ready for the season yet), Hydra, Meteor, Talon, Enterprise, Dominator Side 1, Dominator Side 2, Whip. Does anybody have advice, tips, suggestions, or think that there is a better schedule I should follow for navigating the park?
  21. While it isn't exactly my favorite drop, I think Wooden Warrior at Quassy deserves to be mentioned. The first drop is tiny, but it's pretty steep, and it has absolutely insane airtime in the back!
  22. The old restraints were fine for me, and I could re-ride them over and over and only get a little beat up by the end. But with these new ones, they'll be even better! While I do like the regular Intamin OTSRs, I'll take vest restraints over hard restraints any day.
  23. This looks like it could be a real ride. If there was a way to add more arms or more seats on each arm, I could easily see a park use it! With the current design, it would be perfect in a small park like Quassy or a boardwalk park.
  24. PLEASE GOD NO Okay, maybe one with less restrictive "seats"? Or, how about a flying/lay-down Larson Fireball/Giant Loop? I could actually see that happening. Would be fun! Combine the 4d Freespin cars with a Larson superloop. Would combine two already popular flats (zipper and superloop). I enjoy Larson Loops, but I LOVE Zippers, so this is an awesome idea!
