  1. I was joking with the Giga thing. They can't build anything as tall as Windseeker due to their location near San Jose International Airport. They had to get special FAA Approval for Drop Zone and that's almost 100' shorter. I think their cap is around 150' without getting the FAA involved.
  2. When I went in 2011, I went on a Wednesday and hit everything (a few things twice) and was out of there by mid-day. It was pretty awesome to have Superman as a walk-on
  3. I'll be in So Cal tomorrow. I might get to Knott's. If I do I will update you guys. I did see some updates recently that made it look like not a lot was going on with it.
  4. That's pretty bad. That by the way wasn't directly targeted at SFMM. More of a general statement. I've seen it happen at a number of parks, SFMM included.
  5. I don't hold the patrons against the park. Sometime you just can't help having the ghetto come to play. I do, however, get pretty annoyed with how those patron are dealt with by the parks when the need arises. And when you cannot tell the difference between the guests and the patrons, that's an issue as well.
  6. Wow... Just, wow. I kind of want to punch this guy in the face, but in a nice way, to try and break him out of his crazy.
  7. Might be a bad idea, you'd probably crash and die if you rode it right now. Ya know, cause it's not finished. I love how when I look at the ride pre-track I'm thinking "oh, they need to add some more supports to that section before track goes in" and then they just give me the finger and slap some rails right to the side of what's there. Look crazy.
  8. Another awesome report. To be honest, since the remodel has been completed, I prefer DCA as well. Not for Cars Land, though I like the land a lot, but more for the improved atmosphere and food options. No where close to Epcot's food, but probably the second best Disney Park for food (of the ones I've been to). Hopefully the rumored Tomorrowland and Frontierland expansions come to fruition and Disneyland gets a refreshed feel like DCA.
  9. Are those the World of Color pre-show puppets?
  10. ^Wait, you mean this is a business that has business needs and isn't made solely for the happiness of coaster enthusiasts!? If you don't like how the park is run, don't go. That's what I do. I haven't been to SFMM in 4 years. I'm likely going this year, just to give it another shot, but if I don't like it I won't give them my business for another 4 or 5 years. They won't care and I won't feel cheated out of my money. Win-Win. I've never understood the financial masochism of some enthusiasts who continually throw their money at a park only to bitch about how much they hate it and how poorly it's operated.
  11. Sooo... Does that mean Shouka is coming back to SFDK?
  12. Yeah... So the poster becomes the same as the stupid people that think Gold Striker "iz da same as da grizzley."
  13. While it was built in the 90s, it did not replace the Edge. Where Drop Zone is now used to be the Ameri Go Round (if you've seen Beverly Hills Cop 3, it is the one Axel/Eddie Murphy is seen on as he tries to get away from the Wonderworld "Security') Anyway, the Edge was located near what is currently the Go Kart Track, next to Psycho Mouse. Ummm... The Edge was closed after 1995. Drop Zone opened the next season, 1996. One drop ride goes away, another is built. Sounds like a replacement to me. Doesn't really matter where one was and the other was built, you are taking one version of a ride out and putting another in.
  14. Haha, short and sweet. Thanks. I figured it was wishful thinking.
  15. I'd love to see a themed JP queue line built with updated entertainment in it. The current one is so bland, and with Universal pushing to have a certain level of quality, it seems like updating the queues might be in line with what they are doing. For those more familiar with USH, any chance the sound stage right behind the JP Food location could ever be re-purposed for theme park use? Seems like a great spot to do a JP dark ride making a little mini JP land there. But I'm sure the revenue generated by that sound stage for TV and Movies would have to be made up, just curious if that would ever even be a consideration.
  16. ^ Is the awesome dark ride USH added just this last summer not good enough? Or the awesome dark ride that is already coming in the form of HP? Back Universal Orlando, this sounds fantastic! When I got my first visit to IOA in back in November, I kind of felt like JP could really go for some serious expansion. There is nothing wrong with the land now, but it just seemed like it could easily accommodate more fun stuff. Right now it's a huge land with an awesome water ride, a kiddie coaster and some shops. I can't wait to see what comes of this rumor. The Amber Mine Roller Coaster sounds especially interesting. In the past the big parks brands like Universal and Disney have shied away from wooded coasters; it will be interesting to see one of them get one, even if it's not a huge ride. Comcast is definitely serious about making a name for their parks and being the first real competition to Disney. I'm excited for the years to come.
  17. I prefer Intamin over S&S for sure. I've been on the Intamin Drop Towers at CGA, KI, KD, SFA, and CP (Demon Drop first gen free fall). S&S's I've been on the ones at DCA, KBF, SCBB, Stratosphere, and IOA. S&S's feel too controlled to me. Intamins feel like a real free fall. I think the reason for that is because, well, S&S's are controlled the whole time and Intamins are true free falls when released from the top. I think it makes all the difference in the ride experience, though the Thrill Shots are pretty cool with the upward launch.
  18. Most Anticipated: Iron Man 3 Man of Steel Star Trek Into Darkness Oblivion The World's End Pacific Rim Thor: The Dark World The Wolverine Catching Fire Warm Bodies The Hangover: Part III The Hobbit - The Desolation of Smaug Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters A Good Day to Die Hard Kick Ass 2 Now You See Me Elysium Least Anticipated (AKA, will never bother with): Paranormal Activity 5 (really?) Anchorman 2 (I hated the first, won't be wasting my time on the 2nd) Planes (Didn't care for either Cars movies and this one isn't even Pixar) Smurfs 2 After Earth (WHY DO PEOPLE STILL LET M. NIGHT SHAMYLAMADINGDONG STILL MAKE MOVIES!?!?!?)
  19. Awesome photos! Xcelerator is definitely pretty tight to get into, but It's my favorite of the Intatmin Accelerator coasters I've ridden. It's funny you say that because I was going to comment on hot the painted supports make it look so much better. Sure the track being painted would be nice, but it was so bad when the supports were faded too. Hopefully the track will get some love in the future and hopefully that love will not be pink. A light blue would look nice with the green supports. I don't hate Silver Bullet, it's a good ride. It just doesn't thrill me like other B&M Inverts in the state. Flight Deck and CGA is much more intense and fun. Batman is more thrilling as well. Silver Bullet is pretty to look at though and by far not a bad ride at all.
  20. I wonder how much of the ride will just be left where it is because it's in an unusable space and there is no reason to spend money on removing that section of the trough. Like some of the sections high up on the mountain.
  21. ^ I'm happy with how it went. Atlanta is going to have a really tough time with Kap and the dominant defense we have. I like our chances of a trip to New Orleans.
  22. Fun Fact which I'm sure many of you have seen. The user log in screen for Windows XP and 7 have a default flower picture, but you can change the picture and one option is a roller coaster loop. The loop is the first one on Texas Tornado (post modification). I noticed it today at work as that is my user icon.
