  1. ^ You're right. BGW has a pretty awesome show too. Not quite a Disney presentation, but way better than an average show. I also remember watching the Kings Island show in 2005 from Beast. That was a fun experience though the show itself wasn't anything to write home about.
  2. That was a great game. The Niners/Packers game is pretty awesome as well. Let's go Niners!
  3. My tops are: 1. In-N-Out 2. Taco Bell 3. Quiznos 4. Burger King 5. Jack in the Box But really I shouldn't eat at any of em.
  4. ^ I'm guessing it has to do with ground conditions. Likely cheaper to use explosives to break up the ground than it would be to use machinery on really hard ground/bedrock. Quicker too. That's a total guess though.
  5. I believe this was already being discussed here. I think it just comes down to the manufacturer making odd rides.
  6. Holiday Illuminations is #1 for me. Followed closely by Halloween Screams at Disneyland. I haven't see the seasonal shows at MK, but I'm guessing those would be way up there for me too.
  7. I just got into Doctor Who. Finished Season 3 last night. Can't believe I have missed this show for so many year. I love it.
  8. Had that kid not been in it, it would have been decent. The Lost World was garbage too. Sure hope this one comes close to the first one's greatness.
  9. Please don't tell me this thread is going to spiral back into the whole "Restore Revolution" thing again. The park isn't going to do it unless they get an ROI on it. Taking the restraints off isn't marketable, so there isn't much point until to do it unless the trains can't run anymore and they need to buy new ones... or they might just tear the coaster out.
  10. Just saw the heat alert from RunDisney on Facebook. Everyone stay safe out there this weekend!
  11. SFDK is one of, if not the most non-Six Flags park out there. It's still Six Flags, but very different from the norm.
  12. This. Not sure why people keep saying a giant frisbee type ride when we have quite a few of those in the US already. Personally I have no clue, but I find it interesting that the picture they chose to post was of the top of a coaster lift hill. I know that is one that is already there, but why is a coaster the main focus... hmmmm...
  13. ^ Awesome update! Seems like they are really moving on the track install now. This whole thing is so much more massive than I had imagined. Really happy they decided to do this over the meet and greet area they had originally announced. This seems like a great ride to have in Fantasyland.
  14. I'm interested to see how this all works out with the management shift. My assumption is that we will hardly notice a change (I mean that in a good way) and if we do it will be a positive one. I thought Animal Kingdom was one of the most beautiful parks I've seen and the staff there was awesome. Everyone was super friendly and talkative and it never felt forced. I hope that kind of attitude makes it's way to Disneyland where I've found a lot of CMs (no not all of them) often act as though all the guests are idiots and must be spoken to as children. I'll be heading to the parks next weekend, hope the ticket thing doesn't create huge issues, especially with the Tinkerbell Half-Marathon going on and a lot of out of towners there on multi-day tickets. It almost sounds like they should make dedicated lines for multi-day, one-day and AP. Then again, a Californian that waits 5-10 minutes for anything usually tells people it was 45-60 mins... so it might already be working just fine.
  15. How can they change Colossus!? It's so original and unique. I mean SFMM is the only park Walt was ever around to see.... Woah, what the hell just happened to me? Sorry about that. It'll be interesting to see if this is true. Will they stick with 2 tracks or use this as an opportunity to quietly remove one? It's got a pretty tame layout right now so I'd be interested to see how RMC would fix it up and make it more thrilling.
  16. Please correct me if I'm wrong cause I know nothing about the management set up at Disney and just guessing here. But isn't it just "Disney Parks" that controls everything and they just operate out of Florida? It would be like saying SFoT makes the rules for all Six Flags parks, or Cedar Point controls all CF parks. It's just the corporate offices located at/near a flagship park/resort. And as much as DL Fanboys hate it, WDW is much more of the flagship resort for the company. Or do I have that totally wrong and it really is WDW management making calls for how certain things are done at DL?
  17. I haven't been on the Hurler at Carowinds, but I remember not minding the one at KD. I think it would be a great ride to get redone in topper track and let it roll at full speed again. I wouldn't tear any ride down. I dislike some rides, like SLCs, but they still suck up crowds and keep lines for other rides shorter. So I'm fine with what exists, existing. Not like I have to ride them or anything.
  18. I'm seriously impressed with their marketing on this. I only hope it's a great ride to back it all up.
  19. Couldn't find one when it was Zonga... but the Loop-Screw was awesome and so wrong at the same time.
  20. ^ I thought the same thing. I'm also surprised that they don't get the people that do that. A friend of mine had a water bottle come out of a side pouch on her bag one time and it flew up once before she grabbed it. After the ride, there was an operator waiting at the exit for her to warn her that she would be removed from the park if she came back to the ride that day... and that was just for an accident. I'm would think that if the operators see it on camera they would have the jackasses kicked out of the park. Once it gets around that they are getting kicked out for it, maybe they'll stop. As for the Blue Sky Cellar post. I'm happy to see that! I was worried that with DCA done, the attraction would be removed. It's a really cool place to get insight into imagineering. I'm glad they are keeping it to showcase things at Disneyland as well. I wouldn't be opposed to them showcasing big additions to WDW either. I just enjoy checking out all the cool models and what-not.
  21. Part 5 - Disney's Animal Kingdom At last, Disney World! Well I actually visited this park on the second day of the trip, but still, AT LAST! This was my first visit to a Disney park outside of the two in California. This was also the Disney World park I was looking forward to the least. Having worked at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for 7 years, animals don't get me too excited. That said, I really liked this park and regret not spending more time there. What caught me off guard at first was how beautiful the park is. I think the reason why everyone in California was so thrilled with Cars Land and the other changes at DCA was because for 10+ years we only had Disneyland as the beautiful park. In Florida, they have 4 beautiful parks, and I think Animal Kingdom may have been the most beautiful. I regrettably did not watch any of the shows. I was at the park on the Saturday following Thanksgiving so I wasn't too keen on waiting in the large lines for the shows. I was able to get on most of the rides I wanted to ride (didn't get the second mouse credit cause of the line) so it was mostly successful. Speaking of the rides, here is what I thought of the big ones: Expedition Everest - Sadly this was not the amazing ride I had hoped for. That said, it was still a fun one. I would put it kind of in the same category as Matterhorn. It's fun, and if the line is decent I'll ride it; but I'm not going to go out of my way for it. Dinosaur - I liked this ride. It was a fun dark ride and had some decent surprises. That said, they may have taken the dark in dark ride a little too seriously. I could barely see anything. Also, it's just a bit outdated and could use a nice refresh like they did with Test Track. All in all, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Kilimanjaro Safaris - This was pretty much as good as everyone said it would be. I got a little unlucky and sat on the right, most the animals ended up being on the left. Still was an enjoyable ride and glad my Fastpass got me past the disgustingly long line. And now, photos: Welcome to Disney's Animal Kingdom! Big Tree... really big. Close up on some of the detail Mr. Stork is all like "Hey, you want kids? I can get you some cheap kids." Hey Florida residents, what the hell are these? I took like 5 pictures and then realized they weren't actually part of the exhibit. Everest has of of the best forced perspectives I've seen Disney do. It really looked like a full mountain when viewed in certain places. Obligatory Everest shot. Hippo. Apparently it's rare to see them out of the water. Traffic Jam These guys were horny. A giraffe got close... ...really close. CUTE ALERT! Baby Rhino... awwwwww. Bird The new Zebra finale. Went on the little trail thing after the safari. Saw a gorilla. I thought this was pretty cool. There's Rafiki! The entrance to the main building. The inside was very much like a museum or education center, which are thing I typically enjoy. This one was no different. And now come a major gripe I have with this park. Dino Land U.S.A. The area starts of looking great with the play area and restaurant. Dinosaur has a decent looking entrance. But then you get to the other half of the land and are greeted with this hideous pile of Six Flags quality crap. I get that Animal Kingdom didn't open with a ton of things to do, but it's got stuff now, I think it's time to rip off the bandaid and tear this monstrosity down! At least credit whores get 2. I had a thought for this land. Disney could redo this section of the park to South America. It would provide a place for more unique animals and then you could re-theme Dinosaur to a new Indiana Jones Adventure. This is not at all a cheap solution and likely not seen as necessary by WDW management. But it seems cool in my head. Dinosaurs aside, this is easily one of the most beautiful parks I've ever seen.
  22. I find it funny that the Shouka Stadium sign is still up at the bottom when they were so quick to remove the other stuff. Thanks for the photos! Looking forward to the Dolphin Show video. Muahahahahaha I think I will be going by the park tomorrow for some pictures of the last day of the season. Also, the park has updated their operating calendar for 2013. Opening day is March 16 and follows a pretty similar to schedule to the past few years.
  23. X-Scream for the win. That thing terrifies me. Xcelerator freaked me out the first time I rode it, but I loved it. It was mostly because I had never been on a launch coaster of that magnitude yet. Other than that, I don't fear most coasters anymore, except for my fear of getting the crap beat out of me.
  24. Haven't you heard the rumors? They're supposedly going to paint it a new color, turn the trains backwards, and market it as a new ride for 2014! But all jokes aside, I agree, it's looking faded. I think Scream is the worst of them all. It's looked bad since a year or 2 after it opened.
