  2. I call BS. These loops on Demon are clearly different and there is no elevation change from exiting the first and entering the second. EDIT: I see looking back that Demon was already used to call BS. Just take this one as reinforcement.
  3. ^True, but lets be honest, SFDK let Roar fall apart.
  4. It was a bad Soda day for me (drank too much). Just had my absolute favorite, Mtn Dew: Code Red.
  5. ^The website is referring to it as a Medal where as the 5K is being referred to as a Medallion. So, I'm guessing it will be a real Medal, but don't quote me on that.
  6. ^ When I went up in 2004 when I was 17, no big deal. I rode X-Scream like 7 times and High Roller and Big Shot a couple times each. Didn't even phase me. Then I went back last year... Almost had a panic attack just being up there. Rode X-Scream once and was terrified. Big Show was still OK, rode that twice. Didn't bother with Insanity. It's amazing how I apparently lost my nerve over the course of 7 years. My favorite Defunct ride isn't technically defunct, just moved to somewhere that I have no intention of ever visiting, and that ride is Zonga. Followed close by Tidal wave at CGA, love me my Schwarzkopfs.
  7. Depending on what this is, I might say F it and go up to Silverwood this summer. Take a long weekend and drive up or something.
  8. ^ Thanks, I see I missed a few discussions about the Steel Poll. I'd love for it to happen as these polls are great for seeing how people really feel about certain coaster. That said, I wouldn't be brokenhearted if it was decided to be too much and he sticks with just the Wood poll. Seems like a lot of work for just the one, I could only imagine doing 2.
  9. ^Is the steel poll still done? I haven't seen it in a few years.
  10. ^There are things that can be addressed, modified, and fixed when a ride is removed and completely refurbished, that might not otherwise be possible (or economically feasible) if it were left in place. It was not a good fit at CGA but has proven to work out well enough at Carowinds. This whole pointless argument goes back to the whole enthusiast complex that we all get, especially when we are young. An enthusiast likes to think a ride should be removed and replaced because of the experience the ride gives, a park thinks a ride should be removed or replaced when ridership/draw is low or the cost to operate becomes larger than the revenue it attracts. As much as most enthusiasts hate SLCs, the majority of park guests enjoy them and continue to ride them. Parks don't cater to enthusiasts, they cater to the masses.
  11. Knott's Berry Farm and SFMM... Wait, we already have that, it's called Cedar Point. I would love to see Epcot combined with anything on west coast, because I want Epcot over here.
  12. Just drank a Pepsi, the superior cola.
  13. ^I'm generating a bling addiction, so it's worth it to me. I enjoyed doing the 5K the day before, but felt like it wasn't enough. I'm stoked for the 10k, and even more stoked for the extra medal.
  14. Part 3 - Universal's Islands of Adventure Time to keep going with the trip reports! Honestly, I'm not sure if I was more excited to visit Disney World or Universal Orlando. I still am not sure which one I preferred for their own reasons. I'll start out with Islands of Adventure, which is the park a preferred at the resort. The park was really a visual wonder. I'm glad that I visited after what I heard was a major spruce up of the park. Everything felt clean, fresh and bright (especially Seuss Landing). Another big thing was Wizarding World of Harry Potter, because yes, I am a huge Harry Potter nerd. This "island" did not disappoint. I totally get why people from the east coast weren't totally impressed with Cars Land, they already had a totally immersive land in Florida for a couple years! Butterbeer did not dissapoint. In fact, Butterbeer was almost too good, I bought like 4 in one day. The island that I didn't overly care for was Marvel Superhero Island. The rides were great, but I'm not a fan of the cartoony cardboard cutout theming around the land. It's saving grace is the fact that it's got 2 amazing rides to anchor it. Speaking of rides, here is what I thought of them. Incredible Hulk - The launched B&M. Well, it was fast; it was intense; and it was pretty awesome. That said, it had a good deal of B&M rattle when it came to the 2 corkscrews which banged up my head up pretty bad. Overall, still a very solid ride. The Amazing Spider-Man - Well, after hearing everyone for 13 years talk about this thing being the best dark ride out there, I finally had my chance to see for myself. This bad boy did not disappoint. Having been on DarKastle and Transformers, the ride vehicle wasn't something new to me, but the storyline was fun and immersive. Overall I would probably rank this 3rd for dark rides behind Harry Potter (#1) and Transformers (#2). Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey - Having already pointed out I'm a huge HP nerd, well... I pretty my had the giant nerdgasm on this ride. The ride system was super cool and unique, as well as the experience being immersive and exciting. On a side note, props to Universal for designing such a huge loading area allowing for there to be PLENTY of time to load without stopping or slowing down. Dragon Challenge - How I wish these still dueled. The rides were great, but they were clearly built to interact. I definitely preferred the Chinese Fireball (Fire). It gave me a much smoother and intense ride. The Hungarian Horntail (Ice) gets points for the cool over-banked turn, but the cobra roll beat me up both times. Cat in the Hat - I almost didn't ride this, but it turned out to be a great little dark ride. I really enjoyed it. The well known lighthouse entrance. Did the steal this idea from Hard Rock Park? I really liked the whole entrance to the park. It looked great! Seuss Landing was decked out for Grinchmas. This was a sleeper hit for me. This land looked awesome. It's too bad HP took over it's strongest aspect (Dragons). Didn't get a chance to eat at Mythos, but it looked awesome on the outside. No clue what this was, and it was closed. Looked cool on the outside though. Welcome to Disney California Adventure... wait. OMG OMG OMG! It's 'Arry Pottah! Train... this will be gone soon. Snow? It's like 80 degrees! Dragon Challenge Yup, that's what the crowds were like. What do you call a Sasquatch that does ceramics? A Hairy Potter! F U Cobra Roll! Someone tried to avoid paying for parking. I don't know why, this just felt odd on an inverted coaster. Snowman I hear this looks different now. My school was not this cool. Love this stuff. See... I love it. I have an island, of the coast of Costa Rica... ...with a great view of the rest of the park. Felt like this building was underutilized. Nope. Did not get this credit. I liked the water effect. Awesome. This was fun. I don't really get excited for S&S towers, but this gets a pass. Hulk looking pretty. Twisty Loop-de-loop! Sent from my iPhone. Another panorama thanks to iOS 6. Goodnight IOA
  15. Six Flags Magic Mountain. Oh, did you say coaster?
  16. I asked GCI about that back in august. You can read what they said here.
  17. The funny thing is that Prudential doesn't even operate out of that building. It's just one of the properties the own and lease. I think Avaya and Citrix are currently the tenants. Prudential is just concerned about getting future tenants.
  18. I think that I'm starting to come around and notice it more...
  19. I haven't been on many, but I would say Giant Dipper at SCBB takes the cake. Otherwise I've just been on the junior woodies at KI and KD... I may have ridden some other sub-75 footers but they didn't make a big enough impression for me to bother looking up their heights.
  20. This may have been discussed already, but anyone know if Annual Passes will eventually take part in the RFID tech? I figure they won't be given access to Fastpass+ (unless it's offered as an up charge) because that would seriously dilute the exclusivity to resort guests, but I'm curious if they will be able to use the RFID turnstiles and other amenities it might be used for. I know this will all be revealed when the announcement is made from Disney, just curious if anyone has heard anything through the grapevine.
  21. ^I was thinking that maybe the issue was resolved as in the city told Prudential to shove it and approved the ride. Also they heavily modified those turns out there, moving them away from the building. That may be what they meant as well.
  22. ^Haha, I've seen this guy a number of times on BART. He is seriously crazy. He would fit right in on a SFMM bus.
  23. I'm not going to lie, I'm still trying to grasp all the things the RFID tech is going to do at Disney. I had originally thought it was going to just be a room key with a chip inside that allowed for FP on it. I had no clue it was going to be used for so much more and in such a spectacular way. I'm always hesitant when companies make a huge change to the things that have worked so far, but Disney has clearly done their homework. I could see this whole thing becoming as influential to the amusement industry as it was when Disney went from the ride ticket system to one price general admission.
