Fun Spot America Discussion Thread

^I'm fairly confident that Skycoaster would not allow for dueling flight lines. Not so much a factor of the swinging, but more of a concern for the placement of the operators during flight. I could be wrong, but everything I've learned about Skycoaster in the many years I was a Site Controller makes me think they wouldn't be ok with it. Not to mention it's a modification on the design of the ride which they never allow unless it's done directly by them. And thanks for the photos! Love the updates. It's really cool to see the growth of this park. -
What about Cedar Point? They have their Planet Snoopy next to Kiddy Kingdom, so CGA isn't the last Cedar Fair park to have two separate kiddie areas next to each other! Please see above. Note, ONE OF. And Kiddie Kingdom and Planet Snoopy at CP are separated by a gigantic building. Kidzville and Planet Snoopy at CGA are right next to each other with nothing separating them. Quit trying to stir up controversy that doesn't exist.

^ Yeah... No. I think to try and stick with the thrilling, yet family friendly vibe, it's best to stick with something like and El Loco and not a 14 Inversion Eurofighter. I'm personally stoked for El Loco. I love the Adventuredome and this seems like an excellent addition. -
^ I actually specifically spoke to them about the possibility of ditching Kidzville for a large Planet Snoopy since CGA is one of the last CF parks to have the separate kids areas next to each other. They were pretty frank with me and said that right now there hadn't even been whispers about that potentially happening. I don't think that combining the two is a major priority right now, the park has bigger issues that CF is working to right then that right now.

^^ You don't need to be an ass. EastCoastn07 is making very valid arguments. A vertical loop with a lap bar only is sufficient, even if the ride stops. Then you have dive loops and other elements where not only are negative and positive g forces being added to lateral g forces, a lap bar may not be totally effective and require a redundancy. Having ridden Superman at SFDK many times, you can absolutely notice the effect the shin guards have on holding you in place when you are slowly crawling the the barrel roll as well as when you are getting tossed all over the place on the non inverting loop.

Saw Jack the Giant Slayer over the weekend. While it was a fun movie and princess was very fun to look at, I couldn't get passed how terrible the giants looked, especially with so much great CGI out there and the cost of this film, you would think it would look a little less fake. Also I felt like Stanley Tucci was severely underutilized.

Going to be a big couple of years on the north end of the Strip, with SLS opening next year and Resorts World in 2016. Makes me wonder if something will happen with the Fountainbleu site soon, since that one is so far along. This could also be some encouragement to MGM to remodel or just fix up Circus Circus over the next 10 years... it could happen. Here is some concept art of Resorts World.

They did say at the event last weekend that the ride would not be opening immediately after this event. Whether that means the literal day of the event (which is a Wednesday and they are closed) or the first couple of operating days after it (May 4 and 5), who knows. I do see on their operating calendar that Friday May 3, they are having a private event. Could this maybe have to do with the ride? I do not know. I know CGA always has a lot of private buyout days early in their seasons.

I was looking at google maps. If the dedicated the Premium parking area and the parking lot closest to Great America Parkway (the the left of the exit road when leaving) for CGA guests and then the main lot plus the parking garage(s) for 49ers. It could probably work, albeit cramped. Also, since the games are on a Sunday, maybe CGA can work out using the Prudential parking structures despite their strained relationship.

I dunno about the planter thing, but the whole Hypersonic going to CGA was true. -
Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
Double0Kevin replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^I'm familiar with that one. How bout the person being decapitated on Space Mountain when it first started testing (I've heard this rumor refer to both WDW and DLR's versions). My favorite as a kid (dark ride rumor, not coaster) was for Indiana Jones, that if everyone in the car didn't look at the eyes of Mara, the ride op would send your jeep on a secret track with a totally different ride experience. -

The park just posted this photo on their Facebook. Looks like they aren't wasting any time on getting the area ready for El Loco. -
^ A big reason people forgot/thought it had closed was that the marketing for the park almost completely disappeared. I only ever saw/heard about the park during Haunt. Otherwise it was like it didn't exist. I'm sure CF will put up a huge PR blitz for Gold Striker when it opens and the park will see crowds return quite a bit. I'm looking forward to new success for the park.

Like Chuck, I'm just not a simulator kinda guy. I'm kind of one and done. I remember not caring for BTTF when it was around and I've been on Simpsons maybe 3 times (plus the queue is always excruciatingly slow). I personally hate Sherk 4-D. Despicable Me at USF was a fun one, but I'm sure I'll get sick of it quick and won't do it very often on either. With simulators, I can do Soarin at DCA/Epcot a couple times a year, but otherwise I typically avoid those attractions. On the flip side, Dark Rides mixed with simulators like Transformers, Spider-Man and Harry Potter are OK with me. They have a bit more excitement with physical effects added to the video ones. Speaking of Despicable Me, I was thinking about size. The T2 theater is MUCH larger than the Despicable Me theater in Florida (or at least it seemed that way). Do you guys think the west coast version will feature a larger auditorium? I was also thinking of the possibility that they divide it into 2 theaters to help with the popularity of the ride and keeping the wait times down. Obviously they could also use the excess space for other uses too, I'm just throwing out ideas and curious if anyone has heard anything.

^ Yeah, it is kind of odd to be open now, but they are really seem to be trying hype up the ride so I guess it's not too bad of an idea. The costume characters are awesome. I have yet to take a picture with one at USH because the lines are also so insanely long, even on super slow days. I think that this ride is going to be a huge hit for the park, even with Spider-Man at the same resort for the guests to compare it too. Though 95% won't even notice they are the same ride system, nor does it matter. I had hear a rumor there might be some Transformer themed food options coming to the park, possibly taking over the monsters food place. Anyone know more about that?
