  1. Just finalized booking a 2 day visit to Holiday World in July. It'll be my first visit ever and I'm kinda pumped. Will most likely hit KK for my first visit there too either on the drive down from Cleveland or back. Besides that I'm looking at a east coast trip going north from BGW and ending at SFNE, hitting as many parks, piers, etc along the way as possible. That depends however on a buddy's leave from the Navy. Either way 2017 is looking like a great summer now because I'll finally hit up HW after about 10 years of wanting to visit!
  2. Of course every other enthusiast will think it's a vague hint at a new ride.. I'll put my money on a new midway game, trendy food cart or similar item we won't notice!
  3. This was done last season between two SF parks. http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2015/10/16/154657688/st-louis-amusement-park-renames-coaster-after-cubs So expect something like "Raging Indians" or "Iron Cubs" when this happens. Not as juvenile as people are hoping/fearing.
  4. ^^The awesome thing about the former station still standing in Frontier town is that the second floor which now uses supplies for park services (well at least it did in 2003 last time I was up there) still has all the station markings painted on the floor. You can go up there and it's like a time warp to when it was an active station. Kinda cool to see.
  5. Welp.. this explains why in two quick stops at KD last summer I couldn't find the entrance to Grizzly. Mystery solved. Thanks guys!
  6. Noticed that too. However, I'm pretty sure those are just leaves that have fallen onto the track and have gotten stuck to it due to all the rain.
  7. Maybe a more Intamin style pre-lift section like MF or Maverick has would be better?
  8. ^^First of all do you live in the area? I do not believe you can dorm if you are under 18. Also, they do not hire under 18 for rides. (unless that has changed recently) So if you do work in the park expect to work in park services (sweeps), games, foods, retail, etc.
  9. Also this is the time of year where most of your food stand employees are volunteer workers raising money for their club, frat, team, etc... they get roughly 30 mins of on the spot training and are expected to serve the busiest crowds of the season. They're essentially set up for failure. My personal opinion of the Haunt is that it has actually gotten too big in recent years. I have been let down quite a bit since 2013 or so with the amount of scare actors in the zones or houses. It doesn't matter if I'm there on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday they just all seem to generally be understaffed. I think I would rather fewer attractions that are better staffed then numerous attractions where you can go through half the rooms and not see one scare actor.
  10. Possible, But I tried it on 3 separate occasions throughout the season and had the same experience each time. But I haven't had them since June. So maybe they got better. Ironically, my nephews who are 10 and 12 both hated them as well and prefer the regular frozen kind. I agree, however I do like the options on the meal plans at almost every other Cedar Fair park I've been to since they implemented the meal plan. So while I think the options are lacking at Point I don't mind getting the plan and using it at KI, Dorney, CW or Carowinds.
  11. ^^ The free fastlane plus band is only for renewal and only valid on Fridays and Sundays. Not sure if its valid at other parks or what other parks are doing for their renewal deals. On the topic of food I pretty much stick with fresh cut fries, hot dog or cheese on a stick, walking tacos and chuck wagon. The rest of the food at CP is pretty garbage. I do hit up Famous Dave's occasionally but being a meal plan holder I stick with those options more often. I was honestly really disappointed in the Frontier Inn chicken tenders when they made such a big deal about them. Literally flavorless. Sure they're fresh and moist compared to the frozen ones at other stands but the breading has zero flavor. Such a let down.
  12. Thanks! I did check the suggested ones in their website links and was shocked reading some of the reviews. I think the ones nearby the airport seem to be the best and just noticed that isn't too far of a drive. I think I'm all set thanks to a few replies. I stayed at the Airport Comfort Inn up there, booked on priceline for about 65USD/night. Room was clean, hotel was quiet. I can't recall if there was a breakfast but there were plenty of options close by, namely Tim Horton's. I would recommend it if you're looking for something on the budget end and a bed to sleep in. Definitely no frills.
  13. It's only a fail if you set your expectations high like everyone seems to do. There were many people on here saying it was most likely just the Pre-K pass. I thought it would also have included a announcement of free wifi and funpix. But this is exactly what I thought the additional announcement was going to be.
  14. The tram itself is 45 minutes (excluding wait)... ...Substantially identical to Orlando: Mummy (has Single Rider line) Potterland Hippogriff - SOMETIMES they direct you into Gate A line if you are single rider Forbidden Journey (has Single Rider line) Jurassic Park (has Single Rider line) Sorry didn't feel the need to quote ALL of that! But, I will be making my first trip to USH for HHN with a after 2pm combo ticket. Do most of these same tips apply? I will be there on a Thursday evening. Thanks!
  15. You're preaching to the choir here. I worked through the Geauga Lake expansion and demise and I would hate to see it happen again. We were all very excited to see 5 coasters in 2 seasons. Unfortunately it took GL right out of its market and started to bleed cash as the attendance just didn't justify that sort of rapid growth. The norm in this industry for almost all parks is a new coaster every 10-15 years. There are outliers like SFMM, CP and some parks like Dollywood that are experiencing huge growth but even that will slow down. Even Point had a period of 6 years without a coaster between Maverick and Gatekeeper. Again, I think we all got spoiled by the coaster wars era, then the recession hit and things settled down and we are now back to the norm.
  16. I may have some home park bias but I actually think it's a pretty nice park, and most complaints are unwarranted (Like most enthusiast complaints). If you can, get some night rides on Renegade, I have to say this to everyone that goes because it is visibly faster at night. And Charlie Brown Wind-Up is interesting because it feels like you're going to slide out the back of the seat. Have fun! Unfortunately my flight out of Minneapolis prevented me from getting any night rides as I had to leave the park by 4pm. As a first time visitor, visiting while the waterpark is closed for the season, I would say I really enjoy this park. It was fun with some good coasters. Renegade was by far the biggest surprise to me. Only because personally I am not very found of many GCI rides. So I guess I went in with low expectations. I was not expecting as much airtime as I got! I would be very happy if Valleyfair was my home park. I don't see what all the complaints are about honestly. I know most of us fanboys got spoiled in the late 90s and early 2000s coaster boom era, but I see good things happening at this park. North Star will be a solid addition and I think under Ouimet's leadership Valleyfair will grow and be perfect for its market.
  17. Visiting Valleyfair for the first time tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing what everyone complains about! I am looking forward to new credits however!
  18. Went yesterday to say a final goodbye as I worked there from 2001-2005. Kinda bittersweet in the end. To be fair, that was the 5th time I went this season and that was a fairly common weekend crowd. However, I never made it to the park during the week to see how busy/dead it was then.
  19. Please don't. Have you ever worked in a park or with the public in general? Someone telling you they "deserve" something really makes you just want to hit something. The employee also "deserves" to be able to do the job they are being paid to do without people giving them crap about it. Sorry - but that hit a button for me - Carry on -
  20. Got my tickets for my first HHN, pretty excited. Also, this will also be my first trip to a Universal Studios park in general. I'll be there on a Thursday, are Thursdays usually less busy then Fridays and Saturdays? Also got the after 2pm combo ticket. Thanks for any info or tips ahead of time!
  21. Oh I could think of a few voids in their line-up. Mainly a GOOD wooden coaster, a really good family coaster (Firechaser Express), a hyper with trains that don't beat the s**t out of you or require any stupid "tricks" to ride without having the s**t beat out of you. (i'll hide from the tomatoes being thrown now ) Devil's Advocate here on PipeScream. Zamperla advertises these rides on their own website as coasters, so can you fault Point for doing the same if the manufacturer calls them a coaster?
  22. Even if this does not end up at Point, there is a location (the original) in Lakewood, Oh. Its approximately 1 hour east of Sandusky.
  23. Melt doesn't impress me much tbh. Being a Cleveland local. The bread is ridiculously thick and hard to eat. Not really a fan. If I had to offer some Cleveland local suggestions for Point they would be Slyman's corned beef, and Barrio Tacos. Please Point! Tony if you're reading this bring Barrio to Point! Staying with the local eatery topic, surprised Tony Packo's from Toledo has never made it to the park. I would take that over Pink's in a heartbeat!
