  1. ^^Sshhhh don't speak common sense. Some people think it's as easy as playing RCT!
  2. Bert, Couldn't find anything on shuttles. Did some google'ing and nothing. But I did a uber estimate and the fare from the airport to DreamMore was $33-44. Not horrible, but worst case for $88 round trip you may be able to rent a car cheaper. I will throw out the uber estimate is for fares today, they may be more or less depending on when you travel and what time you need the uber. Plus even though Pigeon Forge is a decent sized tourist area, not sure how quickly a uber will be available for the trip back to the airport.
  3. "Rotorman" or Fred (that's his real name) is a gentleman who has what would probably be diagnosed today as autism, or being on the autistic spectrum. He got his name cause he would literally ride the Rotor all day, he never spoke to anyone or would make eye contact which made people uncomfortable. He was however and very nice gentleman and once he trusted you enough he would talk to you. He would chat up the ride ops and was very friendly. He was just different at a time when things like Autism weren't in the spotlight or even well known or diagnosed (80's and 90's).
  4. As a former GL employee and a kid who spent his summers there I am and will always be truly heartbroken it is gone. That said, people need to get over it. It will never come back, ever. I doubt even Elon Musk could bring it back at this point!
  5. Since the show was created? yes. Before it was created? no.
  6. Did you buy your pass or are you doing the monthly payments? There's a section on the membership portal about upgrades. You essentially buy a new membership, and cancel the old one, then get a new card at your home park. A bit of a pain in the tush for someone like me who has a membership but lives in Ohio and doesn't have a "home park." So if I upgrade now during the sale my membership is basically useless till I can go to the park I purchased it from and get a new card processed. So random spur of the moment trips will not be a thing until I can get my new card. It's 2018, why can't they just upgrade my card I have? sigh.... #firstworldcoasternerdproblems
  7. Since people claimed Mean Streak didn't have a line due to its location on the wrong side of the train tracks, I'm gonna predict like 20 mins tops. Those tracks make it very difficult for people to get to.
  8. Are you sure? lol Thanks for the correction!
  9. This is probably common knowledge around here but this is the actual park the writers of the movie "Adventureland" were inspired by when writing their film. Correct me if I'm wrong but they at one time were seasonal employees and drew much of that movie from their own experiences at the real Adventureland. I didn't know of this park before that movie. As a former park employee myself (Geauga Lake) I loved the spot on accuracy of the movie Adventureland and how it portrayed the life of summer amusement park employees.
  10. ^^Possible, the Pass discount is usually 10% off merch and food. Whereas the Pass discount is the FL+ for the FL price which can be a pretty significant discount at Point with their FL prices. I believe it usually works out to be a 20-30% discount depending on the day. Guess I'll find out soon enough when the park opens and people start going in a month!
  11. Fastlane question here for the KD locals and regulars. Does KD offer the perk for Platinum Pass holders to purchase the FL+ band for the FL price in park? I've searched through most of KD's website and have found no mention of this discount perk for the pass. I know it's offered at CP and until very recently not advertised on the website as well. Thanks in advanced for any help!
  12. I'll be the first to post the "omg it looks so slooooow!!!1! this ride will SUX!!111!!" Can't wait to visit in August!
  13. I quick repaint of the station and you could make it look like a barn. Does ivy grow on sheet metal like that? I can only really think I've seen it grow against wood and brick. I guess you could nail some wooden lattice and get ivy to grow up that. It would look great! lol
  14. They're probably offline so they can remove all the dangerous dented supports and replace them with slightly less dented but safer supports.
  15. The only time I ever truly experience "sh*t show" operations at Point has been Opening weekend Saturday the past couple years. Other than that? Sunday typically runs well and I almost always go the Monday or Tuesday following opening day if the weather is nice. And it's fine. Sure the B&M's might have 2 trains running instead of 3, or a ride may be closed, but those are risks you take going any day of the season. So I would agree, May weekdays being horrible outside of Opening Weekend is a TPR urban legend that's blown up the past few years. But that's just my opinion as someone who lives within an hours drive. I would say if anything is horrible for May weekdays to keep people away it may be the food stand operations. Now that is something worth complaining about. But let's be honest.. NO ONE goes to CP for the food, it's terrible. Exception being Brew and BBQ.
  16. I like booking hotels on hotels.com. Couple reasons: decent reviews, easy (IMO) to search areas and find options in all price ranges, but the biggest draw for me is they have giftcards! I now usually tell friends and family members to buy me giftcards for travel, such as hotels.com, southwest.com, etc. Makes long coaster trips like these a little easier on the wallet when other people gift the hotel nights for you! I booked hotels for a similar trip, but almost in reverse and I was able to find 2.5-3 star rated hotels for 45-65$/night. 3 of those nights paid for with gift cards.
  17. Once again if you're a platinum pass holder you got a free 12oz sample from the Brew Kettle stand last year. Which was enough for me cause I too am not a drinker. Hopefully they do that again this year. If you have a season drink plan use that for your cokes/fountain drinks (there's a freestyle in the area) and save all your tickets for food. This is what I did and 1 booklet of tickets was more than enough. Even the sample portions are a decent size when you consider how much there is to sample.
  18. That makes more sense, thank you. Saw in another thread that BGT went up to over $100/day for a single day admission with no Florida Resident discount currently being offered. With the latest round of Disney price hikes and the trouble Busch/Sea World have been in now might be a good time for a price reduction, even if it was say $5/ticket or so.
  19. Wasn't it capped at around 1200 last season? If that's the case, even if everyone went to ride Steel Vengeance at the same time the line should only be about an hour or so long.
  20. Checking prices online a single day admission is currently selling for $90/ea. Or $360 for a family of four to go to the park for one day just in admissions. I wonder how many families will jump on buying one membership for the family and use the 3 free tickets and just go one day saving them over $120 when you factor in parking, in park discounts, etc. I guess at that point the strategy is that it's better to get 4 people through the gates once instead of not at all. hmmm... Still an interesting new pricing structure and if I lived close enough to make this worth it I'd probably jump on it. Blackout dates usually don't bother me because they're almost always dates I would avoid the park anyways.
  21. I said this before, but since it appears they're going to reopen it eventually i'm surprised they didn't take this opportunity to repaint the dang thing. It's so faded it looks horrible. At least then there could have been some visible progress on it cosmetically. Most people would assume it's down for a general rehab/repaint and none the wiser.
  22. Cleveland resident so Cedar Point and KI are parks I hit every year multiple times per year. Just finished booking a mini road trip to the following parks: KD (3rd visit) Morey's (first visit and the park I'm probably most giddy for this trip) and SFGAdv (5th visit but haven't been since 2005-ish, before El Toro and Kingda Ka went in) Thinking about hitting Lakemont for Leap the Dips if they're open again on the way home from Jersey. Solid maybes due to proximity: Waldameer Kennywood (probably hold off till 2019) and MIA Wishful thinking for this summer but ya never know! Knotts and/or CGA & SFDK I have to look at my time off and see what else I can plan out. I also have some Southwest Airlines giftcards burning a hole in my pocket so maybe I can get a Cali trip this summer after all! Edit* Just remembered I have two possible work trips this year to Japan and Denmark! If that happens then I'll have some additional planning to do!
  23. Didn't Mantis have an inclined loop before it was cool?
  24. May or early June weekdays are probably the best (basically any time the park closes at 8pm). However, May also has the most unpredictable weather of any month of the season here besides maybe October. Of course, if you can afford at least one day of Fastlane Plus into your trip then it really wouldn't matter when you come, but I would still avoid July and August Saturdays. Even with a FL+ you may see 45+ minute waits for some of the more popular attractions like Maverick. Also remember if you are a Platinum Pass holder you can purchase a FL+ for the FL price in park only.
  25. Don't take this as I'm defending this, but... Many states already have this exemption for seasonal employees. Ohio for example does. Seasonal businesses (amusement parks, ski resorts, zoos, etc..) do not have to pay seasonal employees for overtime. When I worked at GL the typical work week for us was 70 hours or more. All of it paid as straight time. That said, I don't think he's pursuing this to be malicious or because he's cheap. It could be more to be competitive in a seasonal employment market. Kids looking for summer jobs may be more willing to take a job that'll gladly give them 70 hours a week versus 20-40 at similar hourly pay rates. I know I would and did. He also has dumped a lot of cash into a park we all thought was dead to bring it back. He may need some help to keep it successful. And honestly speaking, I loved every second of those summer jobs. I would gladly work 70 hours a week without overtime pay at an amusement park again then 40 a week with available overtime at a job I'm only meh about.
