  1. Cedar Point is not in the habit of installing second-hand goods, so I don't so it happening to Magnum. Well....except for the fact that almost all of the Planet Snoopy rides came from GL. As well as a lot of other things you might not notice like light poles from the area that was around Steel Venom at GL. So it's not like they've NEVER installed second hand goods from a closed park!
  2. Devil's advocate here for those trains on Magnum: I don't think the reduction in capacity would be all that noticeable on your average day anyways. I went to Point about 15 times last year and probably 15-20 the previous season (I know, small sample size). I also don't go on Saturdays. BUT, I rarely saw Magnum running 3 trains. On top of that, the crew had the two middle cars roped off for the majority of the day. With these reductions in capacity the line still never went further then the bottom of the station steps. So, I don't think newer trains that are easier to get in and out of, with restraints that are easier to check, on top of a shorter train to increase dispatch times would necessarily "KILL" capacity on a ride that has already seen a drastic reduction in ridership with rides like MF, TTD and Maverick and now SteVen in the same park. Will these come to CP? Probably not, but I personally wouldn't mind seeing something done with the Magnum trains. Even if it was to change the fiberglass bodies to something a little more open and easier to get in and out of. Just my thoughts.
  3. Come on Bert. You should know they already have sand volleyball courts by Breakers. Unless they are going for the widest, sandiest sand volleyball court in the world, need to have those records!
  4. Not making a prediction here, but I would love to see a Planet Snoopy expansion with a new family coaster added, maybe a B&M family invert.
  5. I have no experience with SF dining as I don't live close enough to a SF park to justify adding it to my membership. However, I do buy the CF dining plan at $120/yr and think it's worth the investment when you look at each meal averaging $15/ea. Heck there have been times my brother and I have gone to Point just to eat cause we knew it would be too busy to do much riding. I would most likely jump on this deal if I was you, even 1 meal a trip inside the park will most likely hold you over till you leave and can grab something on your way home.
  6. I worked with Great Adventure's Rides Manager when he was still at Geauga Lake (then SFWoA). He's a great guy and I would expect no less from him then to expect the best. Honestly one of the best managers/supervisors I've ever worked for in any job.
  7. As often as their carpenters re-track this ride I doubt they even need to look at blueprints anymore. I often doubted people when they said Phoenix was worth the trip alone. I made my first pilgrimage in 2015, needless to say this coaster instantly became one of my favorites rides I've ever ridden and now Knoebel's is a once a year park for me.
  8. Not to sound like an enthusiast wet dreaming here.. but, if they're building a new "land" I wouldn't be surprised for a B&M (hopefully a Hyper) to be the star attraction after so much negative press on Lightning Rods reliability. Looking forward to a formal announcement on this project!
  9. As someone who works in a industry which buys a lot of complicated machinery. Yes, these machines usually go through testing before being shipped. But testing something for a week or two does not equal the same thing as real life usage, bugs are always bound to show up in real life that don't appear in a few days of testing. That's just how machines work.
  10. Had a friend who worked in marketing for Dorney till this past summer. Two summers ago when they announced the Dodgems and Trioka the marketing team found out the morning of the announcement. So your first option sounds about right with a little "how can we do this as cheaply as possible" sprinkled on top.
  11. Probably cause Larson Loops have been on the fair circuit for decades and SF decided to start marketing them as coasters. Some enthusiasts just can't seem to understand what marketing is and what it's used for. Honestly ever since I was a tiny tot I always looked at Larson Loops as miniature traveling coasters so fairs can have a coaster. But whatever... But to answering your question directly, the simple answer is.... trolling.
  12. Those are some great looking roller coasters right there! Larson really needs to step up their game to compete with these coasters!
  13. I know it's just the angle, and things always look bigger from the right angle. But that sure does look taller then 150'! lol Looking forward to getting back to SoCal and taking a spin on this ride.
  14. That's a very interesting track design. Anyone know if this company has built anything else? Or could we be witnessing the birth of a new coaster manufacturer here with this project. Similar to how Vekoma started off manufacturing track for Arrow. Interesting.
  15. I'll probably go opening day but avoid that corner of the park like the plague and enjoy shorter lines elsewhere. Or complain that rides aren't ready! Then I typically take a day off work mid-week in May or early June and enjoy the park when it's a ghost town.
  16. Shame with Xcelerator being down for so long they haven't started a repaint. That faded paint could really use a refresh!
  17. My guess would be... simple manhole covers i.e. sewers. Nothing to get excited over.
  18. Yea, didn't know if you were asking whats normally in that shed or what they did for Haunt so I answered both! lol Also, the train didn't stop it rolled through normally. They also added a mini Coke vending machine on the brake run shed and placed a plastic model of the Mystic Timbers tree on it. All in good fun.
  19. If you're asking what's normally in that shed, it's the transfer track, train storage and where maintenance is performed on the trains. If you're asking for the Haunt version of the shed, it's just some cheesy lights and maybe some music. Basically poking fun at Mystic Timbers. It was cute.
  20. I'm about to be one of THOSE enthusiasts! Tomorrow is going to be my first ever visit to the park. Only have Friday as it's a pit stop on the way to a wedding. So that said, how are the typical Friday night crowds this time of year? Any helpful tips? I'll be at the park solo and should be there open to close. Also, do they have limited ride availability similar to Point? Thanks in advance!
  21. Making my first ever stop at SFFT on Friday! This is actually my first Texas park so I'm pretty excited.
  22. While I wasn't there personally if the queue was full (which it was the previous Saturday 10/7 I was in attendance for) then yes it can be a 3 hour wait, even with 3 trains running. While I don't ever bother with waits that long now, when I was a teen back in the late 90's and early 2000's a remember waiting through that full queue and it would be 3-4 hours.
  23. Don't forget the $150 price is the non-discounted price. Platinum pass holders can purchase a Fastlane Plus at the regular Fastlane price. Not only would raising the price be a possible solution but also removing the discount perk during Halloweekends. I like the idea of removing Halloweekends from the regular pass and keeping it a Platinum pass only perk. And then maybe as other suggested only valid on Fridays and Sundays. Regardless of how they attempt to control crowds the bigger issue is available staffing for the park, which just nose dives after Labor Day. When I worked for CF we had the season long bonus program. $1/hr for every hour worked paid out when/if you completed your contract. This has been stopped, giving employees no incentive to stay till the end. My bonuses used to be over $2000 when I was a supervisor at GL. Not bad for a summer job. This really motivated me to come back every weekend even though I was going to school in Toledo. I believe reinstating this program could also help with staffing. Every paycheck tracked your bonus so you knew weekly what you were giving up if you quit early.
  24. An as adult the Haunts do not scare me unless they generally do get me by surprise. Which happens once and a while. BUT.. again these events aren't for enthusiasts. *GASP* I know, I know, how dare a park not cater to us?! I take my nieces and nephews to these events, they range in ages from 9-12 currently. Even they are noticing how poorly staffed the Haunts can be. I do love Halloweekends (The Haunt) or whatever it's called now. I love the atmosphere it brings, the additional food options, the Haunts. All I was saying is that I believe it has grown too big for what Cedar Point can handle staffing wise due to it's unique situation of being more reliant on staffing that houses than locals compared to other parks. Which quite honestly is a shame, cause it's my favorite time of year to be at the park.
