  1. I quickly glanced at this post directly below the post for the Pet Check and had to do a double take before realizing you were quoting a different post!
  2. Come on man, get it together! With all the Knoebel's advocacy we see from you, I'm shocked that your rating isn't: "Phoenix and Twister: 2" Or are you fighting with them right now because your pierogis weren't buttery enough the last time you visited?
  3. We all go to the parks for the rides, bro. All of us. I don't give a crap about the rides, I go for the eye candy (Only during the summer months, though. They cover up the eye candy in the fall).
  4. I heard that they're simply demolishing Mean Streak to build a new parking lot and a new entrance gate close to Maverick, but they haven't yet decided whether to go with GCI or RMC (Ground Clearance Incorporated or Reverse Mantling Company).
  5. Same here, though I'm 6' 2" and it was 4 years ago for me. From then on, I've always just not put my arms up on coasters. I still raise my arms slightly to let myself "float", but I no longer put my hands above my head. Follow the safety rules and nobody gets hurt! Besides, putting your arms in the air just increases wind resistance and slows the ride down!
  6. One may have stronger air than the other, but that doesn't matter, you won't regret riding either one of them!
  7. First, it is great to see that you had a genuine good time, despite being a grown @$$ man! No worrying about whether the latest B&M "rattles", no speculating about wooden stakes or an insignificant pile of dirt, no complaining about the poor food quality/overpricing and for some reason continuing to buy it anyway, no nitpicking the quality of the vip tours, just a regular down to earth folk having a regular down to earth good time! Your family seems nice. It's cool that you all have that place in common to enjoy with each other. Second, are the bikinis nice once the weather warms up, or are there a bunch of trashy skanks you wish would cover up? I know you said it's not the most family friendly, I wondered how "bad" it can get.
  8. To the both of you, no hard feelings! I'm friendly about people making fun of Ohio State! As for the "bad planning", they actually planned well, figuring that nobody would flock to Cedar Point for their new "mediocre" coaster! I feel that the crowds were due to a combination of the great weather and the fact that the OSU people told more OSU people to attend due to the low crowds, but instead causing more crowds (my usual group of my brother and I was up to seven people this year!). Don't worry, there are plenty more days this season when it won't be crowded!
  9. Hey, don't diss us OSU people! We love and have just as much right to ride coasters as you, and we were paying customers! I agree that it was crowded, but throughout the day, I didn't wait more than an hour for any ride (except the new hotness). It really wasn't THAT crowded (from my standpoint. You may have seen different).
  10. I can understand that at first glance, it may look slow in the video, but if you concentrate and watch carefully, you can see the way it flies through the course. You need to take into account the fact that ride is being recorded from far away and the fact that each element is a lot larger than it appears. Compare this to watching a plane "slowly" fly across the sky. Even if it IS slower than Skyrush, for this ride we can blame it on losing some momentum from the awesome heart-shaped non-inversion that Skyrush lacks.
  11. If you are mainly interested in roller coasters, my recommendation would be Hersheypark. To me, this is the most solid collection of coasters in the entire Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Hersheypark is overall a very family-friendly and pleasant experience. There are also a lot of other things to do not only in town, but also on Hersheypark property itself (Chocolate World).
  12. While not a real roller coaster, I thought this would be of good note: I used to have a game for MS-DOS entitled "Coaster", in which you design a coaster and ride it. There is a group of "critics", each with their own preferences on a ride (ex: one guy likes airtime, another guy likes speed, etc.) and they rate your coaster. One time, my younger brother tried to have them give the coaster a "zero" rating, so he simply made the layout an oval and called it "Zeroman". Despite being the worst coaster layout, they still gave my brother a 23 rating (out of 100)!
  13. What is there to see on the 50 ft platform? I say go all out and request to see the roof!
  14. I love the fact that the one support is just a really long vertical pole. It's funny to imagine that the workers said something like, "Okay, guys, today we're going to build a 220 foot tall pole".
  15. I bet that people are going to see both Valravn and Rougarou and say something like, "Let's ride that really long orange one that has two lift hills!", or "Look, they added a taller hill and more loops to the end of Rougarou!".
  16. My first Arrow coaster was Corkscrew at Geauga Lake. I remember nervously approaching the corkscrews, knowing I had no choice but to maneuver through them, but boy was it cool!
  17. Dorney Park: Coopersburg Diner, 336 N. 3rd St, Coopersburg, PA. A nice family restaurant with plenty of good entrees, sandwiches, breakfasts, desserts, etc. to choose from. They also have a good soup and salad bar. Directions from Dorney Park: Take I-78 East/PA 309 South to exit 60, which becomes PA 309 South. Continue for about 3 miles and the restaurant will be on the right, just past Fairmount St. Keep an eye out for the building, because it's easy to pass by if you're not paying attention. Cedar Point: Blue Sky Restaurant (24 hours), 917 N. Leavitt Rd, Amherst, OH. This restaurant is not right near Cedar Point, but it is conveniently located off of OH 2, about 30 minutes east if you happen to be heading that way. See descripton of Coopersburg Diner above, except without the salad bar. One of their specialties is the Yeddish Sandwich, which is corned beef with latkes (potato pancakes) as the bun. Directions from Cedar Point: Take OH 2 East for about 22 miles. Exit and turn left onto OH 58 North. The restaurant will be on the right. Helpful hint for leaving the restaurant: The driveway at the front of the property is right turn only onto OH 58, so to avoid having to find someplace to turn around, simply go behind the building and turn right, then turn right at the end of that driveway (behind Chipotle). This road allows you to turn left back onto OH 58. I hope this info is helpful!
  18. Went to Hersheypark with two of my brothers on September 20, and we couldn't believe that Skyrush! We just could not stop riding that amazing amusement device! My brother has nicknamed that coaster make and model "Intamin Mean Coaster" (the ones with a double spine track). We have not been on Intimidator 305, but we can imagine that it also falls under the category of "mean"!
