  1. Correct. They stopped doing that 2-3 seasons ago when they gave the ride an extensive overhaul which has resulted in it actually being open every once in a while...
  2. I took many rides on Tower of Doom and Wild One while working on those rides, of course I made the other attendant check my restraint...
  3. I've only been on El Toro in the back so I can speak for the front (the airtime is so good back there I've never felt the need to bother waiting for a front seat ride... haha), but I think thats true. The back on Griffon/Sheikra gives some crazy air but its not quite the "Holy #### I'm going to be flung off the #### train!!!" air you get on El Toro. Thats probably thanks in large part to the lap bar.
  4. Those are some really great pictures. Awesome stuff.
  5. In the back they can be pretty intense, lots of airtime. In the front/second row not as much.
  6. Its all about temperature like you say. The hotter a ride is the faster it goes. The faster a ride goes the more out of control it can feel and the more rough it can become.
  7. I'm glad to read a pleasant TR from SFA. The park has definitely been better this season then the past couple years, the staff seems to be doing well and acting pleasant; and maintenance is doing much better. Wild One is one my favorite wooden coasters, the second and third hills give some nice airtime.
  8. Doing the spiel is the only thing that made my job when i was an op at all amusing and not horrifically boring, so I can totally see where the ops come from with that. I refused to do the auto spiel and was probably annoying some people...
  9. As was said it has to be over by FOF, so it could be something like what KI has with Firehawk right there.
  10. Nice pictures of DC, captured the mall area nicely. The SPY Museum is lame, at least imho. So good choice on not checking that out.
  11. Frankenberry?!?! bwahaha, thats too awesome...
  12. Camden Park is a fun looking little place. A nice kind of old and run down vibe, but still fun... That sign creeps me heck out...
  13. It is too bad they could never get the capacity to where they hoped. Originally they were going to have both stations running and have a few trains running simultaneously... I never saw more then two trains and only saw both stations running once.
  14. I know you were kidding I was referring to this "Since when has TTD been themed? I mean, it's better than a coaster with an exotic name. But it's certainly not themed." post. Should have made that more clear.
  15. TTD does not have theming? Then explain the massive drag racing lights that are place on the structure.
  16. Every time I've gone on a holiday (memorial day/labor day) its always been insanely crowded, huge waits for everything. So don;t be surprised if its really packed. Its still a good time, though.
  17. ^ Nice pictures and analysis. I agree I don't see how this couldn't be a lift.
  18. El Toro, there was a good picture of it up a few posts.
  19. It does say that the work area can end up being fairly large.
  20. Even though there are marker extending to Rebel Yell's turnaround/the wave pool and all signs say that this coaster has a lift?
  21. That is obviously a piece of the lieft, I can;t believe how much debate is going into this..
  22. Thats what I was thinking, based on the land clearing we see this would have to be a pretty insane compact layout for a coaster that is 300 ft...
  23. "Better park" is debatable. However, more successful park? Certainly Cedar Fair has a shot at that. Think about it, the NOVA/DC area can choose to drive 3-4 hours to BGE, or an hour or so to KD. If KD can offer a world class coaster collection on par with an amazing park like CP, and enough for family's to be entertained, then the majority will probably go with that. Take a day off to drive down to KD, or a whole weekend to go to BGE. Also CF is showing signs that they want KD to become a destination for the region, this is helped by the hotels being built down there right now.
  24. Ok ask your contacts about silver star...or is that not a B&M hyper that is 239.5 ft tall...lol So is the height limit only 230ft in usa due to the imperial system?? ROFL, win.
