What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
coneyislandchris replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This old school classic out at Waldameer; was a pretty pleasant way to cap off the end of a road trip. -
I had to go back and re-read the paragraph about Nitro's train crossing the camelback while you were up the lift. Pretty unprecedented, can't remember ever seeing that happen. A little bit surprised you didn't catch herpes via osmosis just from the proximity of that f*cktub. Here's hoping I never get such an upgrade cause that would, um, make things a bit awkward when I'm on a road trip with the kids...

What is your next park?
coneyislandchris replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Barring any sort of weather-related mishaps, I hope to be at Six Flags America this time tomorrow. (This may be the first time in history anyone has ever uttered that particular sentence.) -
Wow -- surprised to hear IR supplanted Fury on your list! I was hoping to get down to Texas earlier this year, but it didn't end up materializing. With the news of Wonder Woman coming next season, and your rave reviews of the park in general, I'm definitely looking forward to adding it to my 2018 schedule!

So I don't have the same frame of comparison, as I wasn't on the original version prior to the retrack. But I've been seeing around in some of the other usual spots someone who rode it and still thinks it's rough as crap and practically unrideable. After I took my first ride on it a couple weekends back, I have to just wonder what particular brand of crack that person is smoking. Best SLC I've ever been on, bar none. Yeah there's one or two bumpy spots but by and far, it's a huge improvement over any traditional SLC I've ridden, and I could almost feel up to marathoning it. Sounds like y'all had a great time down the shore this weekend. Looking forward to the inevitable reports! -

Was out at Flushing Meadows Park today in Queens, so took my 2-year-old daughter for her first ride on the Corona Cobra Coaster at Fantasy Forest. ("Wheeeeee!") -

With luck I'll be there on Monday, the 14th. I'll have my kid in tow and we'll be hightailing it over to LR as soon as we get there, knock on wood that the uptime is still remaining steady by then. *fingers crossed* -
She's okay with spinning rides for the most part, though she had a bit of a bad experience at Dorney last time out since they let us load up a car with all four of us and it was running a batsh*t insane cycle. I'm not sure if she's ever been on a Rotor or Gravitron... we'll have to see. Agreed on one more coaster for the place. What sort do you think would complement their collection the best?

Looking at all those Kennywood photos is making me itch to get back there. Thankfully, I've only got... *counts on both hands and feet*... seventeen days to go! Glad to know I'm not the only one who doesn't get the Noah's Ark hype, btw. "Oh it's so amazing and it's one of a kind and it's a classic..." Meh. No Aero 360 either? #teamwawa

I wish I knew. Those random closed days definitely threw a wrench in my summer trip plans as well. I finally figured out a schedule that allows me to hit both Dollywood and Kentucky Kingdom on weekdays, but I'm not going to be able to include Holiday World thanks to them closing weekday operation as of August 9th. I leave on the 11th. My best guess is it has something to do with local school schedules, but I don't really know as I'm not a local. -
Awesome write-up. I was very pleased with the park when I visited on my aforementioned Father's Day road trip; it's got a lot of old-school charm in it. Not quite as much as Knoebels, but that location really makes it a pleasure to just walk around and chill out. Sadly I didn't get a chance to ride either the log flume or the Mine of Lost Souls, but I'll make sure to not skip them next time we're there. When we got on Untamed I was too busy oohing and aahing at those deer antler chandeliers. That gets my vote for craziest coaster theming I've seen to date. I was so lost in those that I didn't even notice that the supports were "birch trees"! Nice detail! Was super happy to see that they had a still functioning Rotor, too. I loved those rides when I was younger, and getting locked in that hellpit again was way nostalgic for me. And the kiddo had no clue what to expect, either, so that was fun to introduce him to it. Now I've just gotta figure out some way of getting my wife on it without having her figure out what it does...

Knoebels Discussion Thread
coneyislandchris replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have one singular favorite food at Knoebels that I absolutely must stop and get every single time I visit because they're so damn good. Everything else mentioned above is great as well but that stand is my first stop when my stomach gets to growling. -
Glad to hear! I'm going to be down there next Friday for my first visit, and since Roar is one of four coasters my kid's tall enough to ride, we would have been disappointed if it was still closed. Also, it's looking like Wild One will most likely be his 100th. Seems appropriate since it's 100 years old, right?

Lake Compounce Discussion Thread

From what I hear, they're supposedly putting the finishing touches on it and it should be reopened within the next week or week-and-a-half. Apparently a few ACErs got to test ride it over this past weekend. Was hoping it would have been reopened by now myself, as I was contemplating taking a mid-week drive up there, but oh well.
