  1. It's... it's beautiful I need it. Were these the only two coaster magnets they had? I wouldn't say no to a Nitro one. Also, I have informed the wife that the next time she comes to the park with us, I'm buying her one of those big honkin' frozen margaritas from the SkyBar. She's earned it after braving the intensity of Skull Mountain last time.
  2. Very cool to see the results! I, as many others have already mentioned, am surprised to see Medusa Steel Coaster ranked so highly. I guess I'm gonna have to get my butt down to Mexico one of these days!
  3. I noticed that in the POV! God, I hope they keep it running that way when it officially opens up. I... I might have to leave the kid at home and make an emergency trip out here.
  4. ^ Well if that ain't just the best possible thing to wake up to on a Wednesday morning!
  5. Unless I get the need to scratch the itch a little sooner, my next planned trip is going to be a solo run down to Kings Dominion on May 18th, Carowinds on the 19th, and POSSIBLY Six Flags America on the 20th, depending on whether or not I feel like tempting fate that particular day. It's been over a year since I've been on Fury and since then, nothing else has topped it. Definitely looking forward to revisiting that and the rest of the Carolinas collection!
  6. Mr. Freeze Reverse Blast at SFOT, Sunday before last. Goddamn that's a fun ride! Makes me wish I was going to Great Adventure during the years that Chiller was up and running (or not running as the case more often was apparently).
  7. Well, of course. You can't NOT yell "choo choo" at the operator when you're being dispatched. I think it's literally against the law in the state of New Jersey. Can't run Ka & Zu at the same time, can't have underground tunnels, and can't not be a "choo choo" yelling mf'er when you leave the station. Definitely sounds like a hell of a day at the park. Wish I could've been there instead of at a crowded Red Lobster in Brooklyn where literally EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD WAS CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY but them's the breaks I guess. Always fun reading your reports!
  8. Really? I've been on SFA's Joker's Jinx quite a few times and I've never seen any walks of shame. I wonder it it's just a coincidence you saw many walks of shame while I've seen none, or if there's some other factor. Does Joker's Jinx also have the short seatbelt on the side that's supposed to attach to the lapbar? That was very nearly a factor for me but I managed to suck the belly in enough to make it happen. For what it's worth, I had a fantastic time at the park even though I wasn't able to ride Wonder Woman that day (but that lucky bastard in the videos above was... damn!). I'm gonna have to write up a full trip report at some point, but overall, a really good collection of rides with some excellent standouts, and the park itself was beautiful in both its location and area theming, not something I typically expect from an average SF park! Definitely looking forward to a return visit sometime in the future.
  9. ^ Hey, my back yard! Great report. I've been there on weekends when I thought it was crowded, but nothing like what the lure of $5 wristbands does to people. Definitely glad you got to get some rides in, especially multiple in the back of the Cyclone, and you sure can't beat the price! Offhand, you mentioned free parking -- what did you end up doing? Street parking, or did they actually open up the Keyspan lot for free? And yes, I can confirm the B&B Carousell usually has traditional music going. Unfortunate that wasn't the case for you. Speaking of carousels, if you ever find yourself down this way again and don't mind taking a brief detour, I can't recommend Jane's Carousel out in DUMBO enough, right on the water's edge near the Brooklyn Bridge. Absolutely beautifully preserved classic carousel enclosed in a modern glass structure. My family and I have been out there many times; we had our wedding photos taken there, and my daughter's first birthday party was there as well. Definitely check it out if you haven't yet.
  10. Don't worry -- I plan on riding as much as I possibly can. I'm not one to skip coasters, I always try to give everything a fair shake. And since this is pretty much, from what I understand, just Flight of Fear + outside - hold brakes I'm fully on board for it. Already budgeted for Flash Passes if necessary for sure. Hoping that won't be the case but if it is, I'm ready. Are they usually crowded at opening on Fridays? Is there some sort of local holiday that would cause more people than normal to be at the park on a weekday?
  11. This weekend, heading down to Texas to visit Six Flags Fiesta Texas, SeaWorld San Antonio, ZDT, and Six Flags Over Texas. It'll be my first visit to the state and I'm looking forward to riding some brand new stuff!
  12. Also alpine coasters, if you count those, but this winter season's just been so brutally cold I couldn't bring myself to do any of those this year. Definitely gonna be nice to have a good, warm, indoor location to get our coastin' on!
  13. All those pictures are making me anxious for my first visit to the park later this week. I am already mentally checked out and on vacation, but I won't be there until Friday. At this point I've already given up on hoping for Wonder Woman to open up in time for my visit, but I'm not going to let that deter me from having a great time at a new park. Really looking forward to riding Iron Rattler, that thing looks ridiculous in all the best ways!
  14. Not gonna do a huge write-up or anything here. Just a brief note that my son and I made our first visits of the year to the park yesterday, and I don't think we could have picked a better day to do so. The weather was very blah and rainy in the early morning, to the point where it was pouring while we were on the Turnpike driving down, but by the time we got to the park it had abated and some sun was peeking out from behind the clouds. This thankfully kept a lot of the spring break crowds away for a good portion of the day, leaving us with a somewhat empty park with no major waits so to speak of. Our first ride of the day was Joker immediately after passing by the gates. It was a walk-on, but as soon as we sat down and strapped in, the car immediately before us got stopped on the lift for a good six or seven minutes. Not sure what the problems were, but we toughed it out while others were leaving and were rewarded with a super flippy ride on the green side; four complete rotations and tons of hangtime from an epic half-spin. Good stuff. From there it was off to El Toro, and today they were posting a pocket-checker at the entrance of the ride. So off to part with my hard-earned dollar while I secured the miscellanous objects in my pocket in a locker for a couple of hours. It was pretty chilly out in the morning and the ops were blatantly telling people "If there's no one waiting in your row, you can re-ride. If there's an empty seat somewhere else, you can re-ride. Please re-ride?". Obviously not wanting to chance any valleys with the moderately cool weather, they only had the one train on the track and were sending it out as full as they could. So much so that they were actively fighting against having to walk-of-shame anyone; after two minutes of struggling with the restraint, the ops unlocked the train and asked one larger fellow to stand up, remove his jacket and his belt, and try again. When he fit and they fully locked the train, the entire station erupted in spontaneous hoots, hollers, and applause! On our side, we were more than happy to oblige their fill-up requests with our first ride of the day in the front row, then the next two all the way in the back car (row-hopping as necessary). God, I missed this coaster! I'm not going to crap all over other people's opinions even when they're very clearly wrong, but this is the highlight of the park and endlessly rerideable. It's impossible to not scream like an idiot when you're being ejected from your seat over and over again, or being whipped from side to side in the twisty section. Always a favorite and good times were had by all. In addition to our blast of a trio of rides on Toro, we also covered a good chunk of the park including Zumanjaro, 3 laps on Runaway Mine Train, SkyScreamer, the Enchanted Tea Cups (looked like they got an upgrade to their lights?), Skull Mountain (with a walk-on for the second-to-last row), The Dark Knight (with no pre-show or train horn), Harley Quinn (which seems to only be doing a single go-around this year, unfortunately), and finally after a year of putting it off, Justice League (with our longest wait of the day at 25 minutes... but made up for it by catching Mew while waiting in line. Yeah, we're still Pokemon Go dorking it up). Quite a bit of stuff was still closed, presumably for early season staffing issues. That included most of the food stands (we ended up getting some pizza from the stand near Toro, and pretzels on our way out at the Sky Bar), all of the upcharge attractions like Dare Devil Dive and SlingShot, some smaller rides including Air Jumbo, Houdini, Deja Vu, El Diablo, the Parachute Drop, the Log Flume (which is still missing its main drop... and yet, still seems safer than Verruckt), both sides of the Skyway, and their Swashbuckler round-up which was completely MIA. Cyborg CyberSpin is still under construction in a giant mud pit by Justice League. We ended up heading out around 5 PM as my pollen allergies were starting to kick in and the kiddo was starting to get a bit lethargic. Overall, it was a really fantastic start to the season. Would it have been nice if more stuff was open? Sure. But for what it was, a lazy Spring Friday, we'd have been selfish to ask for any more.
  15. That right there is a good enough reason to put no stock whatsoever in TripAdvisor reviews... because everyone knows Dorney Park never has lines, even on Saturdays in the middle of June.
  16. Harley Quinn's Crazy Train. That's right, get jealous.
  17. RRrrrr... arrrrrgh... trying to... hold back... the jokes... nope, can't do it. Was it bigger and bolder and rougher and tougher? Did it make you wanna kiss yourself? As always, a fantastic report. Really sad we couldn't manage to meet up during the weekend but super happy that you had a great time, and even more proud that the eatin' right, livin' right lifestyle has been working for you!
  18. Dude. You're staying at Hershey Lodge, right? You will NOT have to worry about this. Get there an hour before the park opens for the Sweet Start benefit, which you can take advantage of for staying on-site. You will have your choice of row and seats without having to worry about sharing a four-person row with two other people. I guarandamntee it.
  19. If you use the app Waze, it's also a good backup. The lower left hand corner of the screen has a display to help you keep track of the speed limit and if you're exceeding it or not. If I'm driving on roads I'm unfamiliar with or through small towns out-of-state I always make sure to reference it (mounted on the dashboard within eyeshot, of course).
  20. I think it looks fantastic! The green and yellow really makes it pop and seems well suited to that layout and track style. I haven't been on it since before they got the new trains, so I'm looking forward to giving this a second chance when I get back up there later this season.
  21. Out the nine times I've ridden Skyrush I've only experienced the extreme thigh pain one time, and that was on one of my three rear left death-seat rides. It certainly isn't an every time occurrence for me and I don't have the foggiest clue as to why.
  22. I finalized my ballot late night on Saturday and submitted it... I'd been procrastinating for quite some time but I was glad to get it in under the buzzer, such as it was. My Top 10 and Bottom 5: 1 - Fury 325 [b&M at Carowinds.] 2 - Phantom's Revenge [Morgan at KW.] 3 - Intimidator 305 [intamin at KD.] 4 - El Toro [intamin at SFGAdv.] 5 - Skyrush [intamin at Hersheypark.] 6 - Wicked Cyclone [RMC at SFNE.] 7 - Lightning Rod [RMC at Dollywood.] 8 - Full Throttle [Premier at SFMM.] 9 - Phoenix [PTC at Knoebels.] 10 - Millennium Force [intamin at CP.] ----- 180 - Vortex [b&M at Carowinds.] 181 - Firehawk [Vekoma at KI.] 182 - Nighthawk [Vekoma at Carowinds.] 183 - Soarin' Eagle [Zamperla at ScreamZoneNYC.] 184 - Green Lantern: First Flight [intamin at SFMM.] I also signed the kiddo up for his own account and we had a fun hour or so going through his personal favorites. It was really interesting to see which ones he rated highly and which ones ended up super low on his list. Here's his top 10 and bottom 5 as well (keep in mind he's not yet 52" so he hasn't been on a lot of the ones with higher height restrictions; the biggest one is Wild Eagle with 50" at Dollywood). 1 - Lightning Rod [RMC at Dollywood.] 2 - Wicked Cyclone [RMC at SFNE.] 3 - Wild One [Dinn at SFA.] 4 - Goliath [RMC at SFGAm.] 5 - Phantom's Revenge [Morgan at KW.] 6 - El Toro [intamin at SFGAdv.] 7 - Phoenix [PTC at Knoebels.] 8 - Loch Ness Monster [Arrow at BGW.] 9 - Verbolten [Zierer at BGW.] 10 - Millennium Force [intamin at CP.] ----- 93 - Crossbow [Zierer at BowcraftNJ.] 94 - Demon [Arrow at SFGAm.] 95 - Untamed [Gerstlauer at CanobieLake.] 96 - Dragon Coaster [Church at RyePlayland.] 97 - Wildcat [GCI at Hersheypark.] I was really surprised he ranked Wild One so highly to be quite honest, but he was very firm about it. He was also very firm that Wildcat was the second worst coaster he'd ever been on -- the actual worst one closed down a while back. On the plus side, he's looking forward to giving it a second try when it reopens as Steel Vengeance. And I think it's safe to say he's a RMC fanboy in training... three out of the five RMCs he's been on were in his top 5, and a fourth one would have taken the top spot if Twisted Timbers was included in this poll. After riding it over and over again opening weekend, he's declared it his new favorite!
  23. Thanks to this thread being rebumped, I just noticed that they're running this promotion again! It's any two stays between April 2nd and May 25th to qualify.
  24. ^ ^^ ^^^ Does that make this the world's first giant frisbee with a high-five element? XD
  25. It looks like for right now, they're just selling ones for the three weekends of their Springtime schedule. They aren't selling any at all, either limited or unlimited, for the summer schedule at the current moment. I wouldn't be surprised if the unlimited ones reappear once the spring dates have concluded.
