Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

On the topic of busyness, who thinks the park will be busy on Mean Streak's last day? Its a Friday and the park opens at 6. I'm thinking of making a trip that day to see what's up and get one last ride using the mighty coasterbill method. -
Works on iPhone like previously stated but only through the link on a Windows 10 PC through Google Chrome. It looks that same as coasterkids124's.

It's a weekend in the middle of the god damn summer with perfect weather predicted and you're disappointed at this breaking development that we think Cedar Point will be busy? What did you expect? Next thing we know people will think the other seats are smoother on Mean Streak. -

Maybe they'll name it Ziz and all the CW fanboys will complain that Cedar Point stole their ride. But Centurion actually made me think... -

Just some things to note that I've found: Mantis's video said it was getting squashed. The mantis video came out a month after this one did in 2014. Mantis closed in October so it seems they are giving this more time. I don't think they would need more time if they are just demolishing it. Either something is coming in its place next year or it's getting a conversion (a reprofile definently wouldn't be this big). I don't think there would be markings if they are just demolishing it. Didn't they just pull down most of Son of the Beast? They also had Mantis's zero car in the rollercoaster graveyard so it seems like they are almost following the same format of teasing that they did with Mantis to Rougarou. -

Why would they announce the permanent closure of a ride if they were re-profiling it? This is much more likely to be an RMC conversion or a complete demo to free up a bunch of space. Yeah. They made a video almost identical to mantis's conversion which they though was pretty unique, And I'm pretty sure they wouldn't do it just for a re profiling. The axe part sounds like it almost could be for the name seing as they would probably change it for an RMC version. -

INTERACTIVE: Cedar Fair Predictions for 2017
MiABeta replied to millertpr's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That actually happened today. I was one of the first riders... But honestly all the jokes about MiA are true: i've been told to not get my hopes up until some infastructual things are fixed. My predictions for CF's parks: Something except VF and of course MiA. -

Guys I might be over hyping this but they are testing the new train right now. It's still having problems but they're running the two at once! Although they only have two cars on the new one... And they aren't loading it yet... But it's finally happening! Edit: it's need 30 sequential and 50 total cycles in order to open tomorrow. Here's two pictures I managed to snap: (sorry that they have horrible photographic value but they have what they need) Edit 2: On Saturday the train was (almost) fully operational. The almost comes in because they were loading it but only had two cars on It. However Saturday was apparently the busiest day of the year, and never has over a two train wait. In other news Shivering Timbers is a completely different coaster at night and anyone who wants to fight Saturday crowds for a night ride should.

Just throwing in a little of my own opinion: The best part of Mako isn't the airtime, it's the banking. The second half of the ride doesn't even need to be fast for the banking to be pretty epic. Also I don't know if I just got Mako in a bad seat but I rode Behmoth at CW less than a week before Mako and honestly Behmoth felt like it had more air time and was a more forceful ride than Mako. I have never ridden Diamondback but I always thought it was better than Behmoth. Don't get me wrong mako is still really great and fun (and I only got middle cars each time compared to back and front on Behmoth) but I actually think Behmoth is better. Also Mako's over bank is comparable to Leviathan's at CW. -

This. Also on a 94 degree day like today millennium force hauls too. Sad day because of high winds, Raptor was open maybe an hour after the parked opened along with TTD. Maverick had its normal "down time due to mechanical failure" until like 2:00. Also Valravn was open and closed periodically, and only ran two trains. Last time they were stacking every cycle so I don't know if that's the reason or what, but even the fast lane line must've been close to an hour. On the train we saw milli e-stoped on the bottom of the lift and the cart part of the way up. Phone I'm guessing? We got stoped on the lift on blue streak because someone had their phone out too. But still Millie made it all worth it. (Great operations from Millie today btw). -

Heh the threat of rain actually did that to us. Went to MIA instead as the weather looked better there and it's just as close. Wish I went though . Oh well going sometime next week so I still will get some CP. If there is one thing Florida theme parks should have taught me is the disregard the weather and go anyway. -
So apparently a really bad storm with 85 + mile per hour wind gusts just went through the Muskegon area (not sure how close to MIA, but I know not too far). There are reports of 8-10" diameter trees down and flooded roads so let's hope MIAs smaller trees survived! Don't want all the trees damaged again. In other news we were there today and they had a security checkpoint at the gates. They had a hand metal detector and everything. According to a buddy that works there they were even screening employees. Oh and the second train is also supposedly in a maintence shop, and I can second that because I didn't see it in the employee parking lot with the other cars.

Sorry for such a long, late post but I was there on Friday, I got in for early entry and might actually have been riding valravn around the time that screenshot was taken! But Valravn had a 105-120 minute long line atleast until 6. TTD, though, had a 15 minute wait for about two hours after the park opened! Maverick was closed most of the day and by the time we got around to it, it had a 2 hour wait time and I just didn't want to wait in another line . For people taking about Mean Streak it had trains on its tracks that you could see from the train ride, but never opened. TTD had pretty good operations and as said later they think they don't hang over that long to increase the capacity, but considering they were stacking trains on Valravn I don't think that is the capacity determining thing. They seemed to be having some troubles with that monitor too as sometimes a seat would randomly come unlocked on the screen and they would have to unlock and recheck a group of 4 seats in that row. All in all a good day and I love Valravn in the front seat, didn't ride it after that first time though. Only real disappointment was that I missed Maverick but I guess getting on TTD in 15 minutes with no Fast Lane plus outweighs that. -
I fell for it... again... Haha sorry I fell for it on the CP forum and it brought my inner troll out. Between Wolverine and Mad Mouse, they both can boast having some of the longest line times in the park. You're completely right about the control system as it still manually controlled, that is braking wise. The break run in the tunnel I believe should be long enough, as they usually only use about 1/8th of it to actually stop the train. I still think it would be worth it because I've even seen/waited for one hour during a weekday!

Too... True... Just kidding! I got a new Funland Animal park to play in! But the real question is, what will be the next mysterious yellow track?

The Incredible Hulk at IoA is a massive people eater. Long trains and everything. The breakdown rate however, 100% true. I haven't seen Maverick (or Incredible Hulk for that matter) be too bad, but half of a four hour wait for Top Thrill Dragster was just for down time. Then again Intamin coasters, particularly accelerators, and any B&M are on totally different reliability levels. -

Maybe ziz will be a B&M strata coaster. Think about It: Behemoth is a hyper, Leviathan is a giga and then with Ziz being a strata it would round off the idea of height. -
Coasters at Sunset
MiABeta replied to DorneyKid14's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have one good sunset and a night picture, sadly I don't take my DSLR to parks because... Well I like to ride more then take pictures . They actually both are of Ferris wheels not coasters. Considering all those these aren't the best pictures but still! CP's at night. I just like this one too much not to share it! MIA's Ferris wheel
