It’s amazing how much slower one train ops are than two. Compared to being here on opening day this line is a drag. Oh well, well worth and still a shorter wait in terms of time. We were going to wait for later but with the closure at 5 and the weather today we didn’t want to take any chances. We out here Update: It just went down wooohhh. Anyway there was a savage op on Valravn, he said “What is this? Six Flags?” When a train was taking longer than normal lol. -

^I also recall seeing the scanners, along with greeters, when I was there on opening day. I think there was a picture in this thread from a while back too. Also the trim honestly doesn't look that bad and I feel like the ride will be just as good with the trim anyway, the hairtime might be of lesser strength but it will be there. Especially considering how fast and low to the ground the second half of that ride is. -
^ wow I see I was just trying to add onto the ongoing joke of nothing being added Anyway for real though I only noticed two things new at the park being a catwalk under Thunderhawk’s brake runs and new gates at the water park instead of the old mobile barriers they used to use. I mean I wasn’t expecting anything and the only reason I noticed either is because I’ve been to this park way too many times. Something seemed different I’m guessing it’s because they were tired of using the scissor lift to get people off because it has really bad power problems.

At the park today and a transformer blew this morning right around when the park opened. Does this happen a lot or are we just unlucky? And even once power comes back Kumba is closed for refurbishment. I also think Montu got stuck on the lift durning testing. What a day, and first trip. Oh well gotta make the best of it.

Mini Trip Report Time! While today was obviously an interesting day, I still had loads of fun. I’ll start off with this. As I said to Robb earlier I’m never someone looking for a perfect day at the point, the park is just too big and TTDs normal breakdowns and wind always seem to ruin our “perfect plans”. Thus, we just go with the flow and expect some great times with friends and family on whatever great rides are open. And that’s what we did today. Starting at the beginning, we were a tad late so we didn’t go to the hotel entrance, but instead did it from the main gate and speed wakes back. We made it to SC at 9:10 and didn’t get on until 12:21 (an hour before the incident?). Wow. I need to redo my banner to include hybrids but dang that ride rips. All the reviews so far I feel have gotten what’s right: this ride is an insane ride, with insane airtime, insane pace, and a perfect compliment to Maverick. Wow. Quick Pic 1 Quick Pic 2 After this we decided to eat at famous Dave’s. Why? I really don’t know but that place honestly is pretty darn good, even though we all only got wings and no ribs . Next we walked past a closed Valravn , a line slightly past worth it for Blue streak for us, then we saw GateKeeper running and went there. I got a front left seat ride and it honestly was one my better rides I’ve had on it. This was around the time SV’s accident had made it to Twitter. I took the point of view that it couldn’t have been as bad as *some people* were making it out to be. Next we walked back past Wicked Twister to see the remnants of the stadium. More random walking and joking with my friends brought us back to the midway, where we would walk towards TTD and Magnum. We saw people in TTD’s station, but decided it was going through it’s normal early year jitters and didn’t mind skipping it. This lead us to Magnum, where we got a normal ride on the leg breaker, which of course lead to more jokes and good laughs. Next we decided to walk towards Maverick, we took a detour and rode Cedar Creek Mine Train, I made a chant saying “Better than Steel Vengance” it didn’t really stick. Finally we decided to ride Maverick and found out that Coaster’s Studio guy was having a meet and greet in front of Maverick. (Ima be honest me and my friend would watch his yearly plan videos for MiA mostly because they were a strong satire for that park most of the time), but obviously Maverick > a person, and we rode Maverick. Average ride for Maverick and me, but the effects in the tunnel are a nice very minor addition. Now SV was testing again, and we watched them load one of the trains with water dummies while waiting for the actual train. A quick ride around 1 and 1/2 times for a break brought us to an above average ride on Rougarou (I actually really liked it today) and a normal ride on Millie. At this point it was around 7 (I think, all of our phones were dead) and we were exhausted because we got up at 5 AM and had done multiple walking laps around the park. We decided one lasts ride would do it for us. So first we saw Valravn testing well in line for Millie, and it was done testing right when we got off but had collected quite the line (looked well over and hour, with FL+ overflowing. We opted instead for Raptor, which had a modest 45 minute wait. After a quick train swap for maintaince, people leaving because they thought it was broken down fully, and another Coaster Studios spotting we got on. I would say it was an above average ride on Raptor for me today. I had zero head banging, and overall a great ride. Finally we felt satisfied enough, had honestly a pretty great day, a lot of fun and a decent amount of laughs. Wasn’t expecting anything perfect, but I would say today was pretty darn good. Can’t wait for more trips this season, but as for me next week is a Vacay to Orlando! -

Well atleast I got a ride but I heard no one was hurt. That’s all that matters. On a sad side of things the lines through the park will go back to normal, without Valravn and TTD too. Just got off of Gatekeeper because it just opened and had no line. -

Millenium Force may fall into the category as well. A coaster that won the golden ticket 15 straight years is now a compete after thought... The Fun TVs are showing all the wait times around the park and everything is 0 besides Maverick lol. -

Currently in line and it’s pretty long, we’ve made it through one set of switchbacks but this wait isn’t too bad for us, but they set the sign to have over a 4 hour wait already. And we saw them wheel out another for the extra crowds that come when the park actually opens. 4 hours for early entry though! -

I honestly do not understand why people go to a park for the "opening day" of a ride and wait HOURS in line when you can basically go a couple of weeks later and ride with a significantly (in this case maybe several hours) less of a wait in line. Is it really worth the bragging rights? Am I missing something? Then again, I watched people wait two hours for a freaking donut at Universal on the opening day a few weeks back and I went about a week later and walked right up to the cash register... I mean I live close enough and have a plat pass where even a really bad trip doesn’t seem that bad, that’s why me and my friends are going, plus it’s right after exams for us and we need some stress relief (hopefully on one early ride of Steel Vengance, and many rides on everything else). -

The guy next to Fred: *Tries to relax at the MCBR* *Can't because it trucked right into the second half* "Oh my and were at it again!" I hope running three trains wont cause a big slow down on the MCBR, but regardless this ride seems absolutely insane! I wish I didn't have studying and finals next week, other wise I would've tried to come out sooner! -

I can hear it now "Airtime!!I", "And more airtime!!!","Now we're upside down!!!", and don't forget all the "WEEEEES!!!" I LOVE HIS COMMENTARY THOUGH!! Anyway that ad gave me shivers and I cannot wait to ride! Even though opening day looks like it won't be too pretty, it won't be my first rainy and cold day at the park if the weather doesn't cooperate. -

OH NO TONY WHY MUST YOU DO THIS... Tony's Tweet I just want a POV of the whole ride is that too much to ask? BTW these trains seem so much better now on the track than I originally thought in the renderings. Still can't wait to deal with Opening Weekend just to get a ride! -

Am I the only one is acting like a kid checking the TPR and Cedar Point multiple times a day impatiently waiting for the full ride IRL pov??? And I loved the fork thing , if going to college to be an engineer didn't have this big of a workload I'd probably run a small social media account like they want. -

If it's made it this far I bet it'll stick around for a while. If not it might randomly pop up in conversation like the boat. Never forget. -
Coastering during the eclipse?
MiABeta replied to LuminousAphid's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My own experience was at Canada's Wonderland which was at just above 75%. It barely seemed any darker out but you could feel that the sun was less intense. This was maybe 10 minutes post peak This was the peak photo I got with my phone camera I basically rode Behemoth during the peak and there was nothing special.
