Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread

It's just concept art. You'll notice you can see Timber Wolf in the concept art as well and there's no way you can see it from Europa. Makes me wonder if this was originally going where ThunderHawk was. It'll be interesting to see what happens over there as that ride plot remains vacant for another season. -
You do realize KD still receives greater attendance numbers than all of those who have gone longer and although we aren't in the era of Coaster Wars anymore, the park has never went through a coaster drought period like this before. This makes it at least 8 years in between coasters now - the previous longest gap was 5 years from 1977-1982. 2010 Intimidator 305 2008 Dominator 2006 Backlot Stunt Coaster 2002 Ricochet 2001 Hypersonic XLC 1998 Volcano 1996 Flight of Fear 1994 Hurler 1991 Anaconda 1988 Avalanche 1986 Shockwave 1982 Grizzly 1977 King Kobra Oh my. Well that changes everything. The past is in the past. The new norm is that KD is not a priority park like it was when it was owned by Paramount. KD has received exactly ONE new coaster since it was bought by CF. I'd say you ought to be grateful you even got Dominator at this point.

This is how I feel - still really grateful for one of the best Cedar Fair parks in my home state. I still think it's the second best in the chain behind CP. However, when you don't have a child and aren't into water parks, KD has really only added Windseeker and Delirium (both great rides) since Intimidator in 2010. For locals who go 5+ times a season the lineup is for sure getting a bit stale and a new coaster is definitely needed. Another 25 million dollar coaster? No, but definitely something at least on the scale of an RMC and/or Mystic Timbers pricetag. You do realize that there are parks in the chain that have gone even longer without a new coaster. Forgive those fanbases for not showing any sympathy for your struggles.

Falcons Flight will be located where Le Carousel is, and Mustang Runner will be where all the markings are. It was specifically stated to go where the old kids bumper cars were. Also, do we know where these rides came from other than just Europe? I only go to the park once or twice a year, so I'm not really familiar with where the rides are located (other than rollercoasters and big flat rides). I figured Falcon's Flight is in the Europa section, but what about Mustang Runner? Americana I'm guessing? And a couple more questions that I seem to be out of the loop on: Is the entrance being completely relocated to a different area, or just being remodeled? And do we have an exact date that we are going to see concept art? Sorry for the rush of questions, I just feel like I'm missing a lot of information about this. Mustang Runner is going across from Detonator where the former kiddie bumper cars were (yellow building) -

The water fortresses are modular so it would be taken apart and numbered and then put back up. VF is the only park in the chain without one. I think MIA might get the Huss Breakdance that is in CF storage. -

It would look good where the older Splash Pad is located at VF -

Surprisingly. There really wasn't that many structures at the park. The only things that could be relocated would be: - Tornado Slide - Water Fortress - 7 Slide Tower Complex (3 body / 4 tube) - Random splash pad fixtures I would imagine that the Water Fortress will be coming your way as all of the other waterparks in the chain have pretty decent ones already. Honestly all of the things that were there would go well up at VF and would help make it a pretty decent waterpark. Definitely would help with capacity. There is still another Tornado slide (from KBF) available. I call dibs for OOF. -

Where did you see that? A reply on their FB page. They also said something similar on the news tonight in an interview -
At SFFT, they have the area from Roadrunner/Iron Rattler over to the kiddie area closed during the event. At SFoT, they had Gotham City, the hill and I'm pretty sure Judge Roy Scream closed during the event. SDC is by far the best holiday park lights I've seen. They cover all of the buildings in lights there. DW does well on Showstreet but pretty much stops or does a bare minimum on the rest of the park. It will be interesting to see how the CF parks compare.

Does OIC do the Texas parks? I was rather underwhelmed by what they did in those two parks. In fact I would say that the former Summer Light Show at WOF was a superior product - especially the Europa part. In the end, I'm all for longer seasons for parks. It makes the "off season" shorter - which is always a good thing

Speak for yourself. Back before Hunt Midwest sold Worlds of Fun to Cedar Fair, the park got a new attraction in both Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun each year. That usually meant a new flat ride and a new water slide/splash feature. I have absolutely no problem with the addition of a Troika and and a Condor to the park's line up. Both attractions are unique to the area and they will add to one of the best flat ride collections in the country. Winterfest is a wait and see. Obviously since it is 2 years out (for all intents and purposes) WOF will have time to figure out exactly how they want to approach this. With the best amusement park Christmas festival in the country being just down the road at SDC, they'll have to figure out their niche instead of trying to go head-to-head with SDC completely.... and we know that the WOF event will be better done than whatever SF is adding for this year So most of six flags St. Louis for holiday in the park vs a couple of rides at worlds of fun. I think I'd take Six flags I didn't realize they had released the ride line up for an event that will take place in 2017 (they haven't). BUT, if that makes you feel better about being a SFStL fanboy, then more power to you I'm not a sfstl fanboy. Never been there. And based on the given information that must make you a WoF fanboy but anyways All I'm saying is that based on the other cf parks they have said they will do a few rides but not a lot. Eric said on their Facebook page (WOF) that the park would have around 20 attractions open but the final list of rides has not been confirmed. I would imagine that decision will not be made until next year.

Just got done talking with Eric (PR) - the park will release concept art for the front gate and new catering area at a later date. The new catering pavilions will be located over by Tivoli Music Hall, in the area where Tivoli East and the employee entrance are currently. Lots of change will happen in this area. It's pretty exciting that this will finally look like a front gate area. In other news, Le Carrousel will be retired after this season. Falcon's Flight will be located there. -
