  1. I've been riding (or attempting to ride) TTD since the first weekday of its operation in 2003, and can confirm: This IS 100% textbook TTD, for every single visit, every single year since!
  2. Sorry for the double post, but seeing as how this is an entirely different topic, and my last post was 5 days ago, hopefully this will be forgiven! What have the crowds been like on the weekends at this park lately? I'm thinking of heading down there this weekend, either Saturday or Sunday (or both!), but if it's been a mob scene, I may not bother.
  3. Dang, that sounds like a good time! Now I kind of want to go down there for it!
  4. I actually considered buying a SW/BG Platinum Pass next year, because if it's valid for a year from the date of purchase, I am already planning on going to BGW for a couple days next year, and then BGT and SWO in the late winter, early Spring of 2021. Just need to do the math to make sure only 4 total days of visits is worth it. Id be buying 4, as well, so it's a significant expense!
  5. Definitely put me in the category of somebody who is super excited about this addition to Holiday World! Splashin' Safari was already my favorite water park due to their existing water coasters, so this just makes it even more amazing! I guess I won't say more here until it's "TPR Official", but I'm definitely pumped for going on this when I'm there again for Holliwood Nights with my kids next year!
  6. ^What's interesting, is that I actually had assumed that Labor Day was a US holiday only, but upon looking into it, I discovered that they do indeed celebrate it in Canada, only with that alternate spelling used. Hence my added in "Labour Day" remark!
  7. Well, today is the day of HW's 2020 announcement! I'm very excited to see what this awesome park is adding for next season, even if it's a water ride (which it almost certainly is), because they have the best water park and rides, as far as I'm concerned! Plus, taking my kids to HW for their first visit is one of the no doubt trips that's happening next year, so it'll be great to have something else new to experience!
  8. Do you locals think the park will rename Ride of Steel back to Superman, now the Six Flags is in charge, or will they leave it as is? What have you heard, if anything?
  9. ^My immediate thought exactly!
  10. These are my favorites, in the States with coasters I've been to, and been on! (I'm going to put my Runner-Up in parenthesis, just for fun!) California: Tatsu - SFMM (Xcellerator - Knott's) Colorado: Sidewinder??? Twister II??? The Flying Coaster??? All the Elitch coasters are bad, and I can't pick one! Florida: Mako - SWO (Kraken - SWO) Illinois: Goliath - SFGAm (X-Flight - SFGAm) Indiana: The Voyage - HW (Thunderbird - HW) Kentucky: Storm Chaser - KK (Lightning Run - KK) Michigan: Shivering Timbers - MIA (Zach's Zoomer - MIA) Minnesota: Wild Thing - VF (Excalibur, Corkscrew, and High Roller all tied, with no Renegade or SV there then.) New Jersey: El Toro - SFGAdv (Nitro - SFGAdv) North/South Carolina: Fury - Carowinds (Afterburn - Carowinds) Ohio: Steel Vengeance - CP (Maverick/MF tied - CP) Pennsylvania: Phantom's Revenge - Kennywood (Ravine Flyer II - Waldameer) Tennessee: Lightning Rod - Dollywood) Wild Eagle - Dollywood) Texas: Superman: Krypton Coaster - SFFT (Poltergeiest - SFFT) Virginia: Twisted Timbers - KD (This should be Volcano... RIP Apollo's Chariot - BGW) Washington: Classic Coaster - Washington State Fair Ontario (Canada): Behemoth - CW (Vortex - CW Clearly, I haven't been there since Leviathan and Yukon Striker!) -Looking at my Top 10, I have 3 coasters in Ohio there, and then no other state with more than one, with the Carolinas, Virginia, Indiana, NJ, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania all represented. -Broadening it to Top 25, Ohio has 7 coasters there, with 3 of them being at KI. However, in spite of not having any Top 10 coasters, Florida has the second most coasters in my Top 25, with 4 (almost 5!) Pennsylvania comes in third with 3. -One of the most interesting things, broadening it more, and looking at the states, is that through the Top 40, the state with the most coasters, is not Ohio... but rather Florida! With 9 coasters in my Top 40, it tops Ohio by 1! Broaden that to Top 50, and I add no more Ohio coasters, but do have the now-defunct Dueling Dragons coasters, giving Florida 11, if non existent coasters are counted. An impressive showing by the parks of Florida, which reinforces why I love going there every few years for coaster riding, as their percentage of excellent coasters is very high!
  11. ^I actually think I may have ridden that one. I do like those family wooden coasters!
  12. Nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way!
  13. ^Thanks! That helps me to make an informed decision!
  14. Thanks, it does help, Johnlloyd! I may still go next year, but now I'm planning to go later this year, so what is your take on crowds at CW for the Labor Day weekend, and Labor Day (or I should say, Labour Day) itself? Will they be really bad? Or will it be manageable? Should I wait and go the following weekend, even though the park closes two hours earlier? Thanks for any input or advice you can give regarding these dates, and what to expect crowd-wise at CW!
  15. I mean, the etching is on a Vekoma SLC, so honestly, it's kind of a fair warning!
  16. Next year I'm planning on being in the KD area on Memorial Day, and I know they advertised a fireworks show that night. I was wondering how late they were open Memorial Day, or the weekend days beforehand? Is it open long enough to get a couple of night rides? I went last year, and there won't likely be anything major new, but I was hoping to pop in during the evening for some rides on TT, and also maybe grab a night ride on I-305, and see if I like it any better than my "meh" ride on it during the day last year (controversial opinion, I know, but it's shared by all three of my kids who rode it, so....)
  17. Cool! Thanks for that information on the Platinum Passes at CW! That was my previous experience at other CF parks, so I was hoping it'd be the same here! I imagine in a couple of weeks they'll go on sale, and I'll be on the lookout for that! I am sure it'll be busier on Labor Day weekend, but I'm trying to gauge the level of busier: will it likely be "don't even bother" busier? Or just "prepare for potentially hour long waits on the bigger coasters" busier? Anybody who can provide further insight here, it is much appreciated!
  18. Also, Waldameer to Kennywood is a much shorter drive than Stricker's Grove to Kennywood Yes, that is for certain! I've actually changed my plans again, and now will be postponing Kennywood until my big coaster vacation with the kids I'm planning for next year, as it will fit in well there. Instead, I'm going to go either Labor Day weekend or later in September to Canada's Wonderland! So that will likely be my next park. Unless of course, I decide to make the run down to Strickers Grove in a week after all, just without any other parks. Not sure if I will though, so I'll just say CW is my next park for now!
  19. ^Thanks for taking the time to write up and share your review! It was a good read! I'm glad it was a better experience for you than SFGAdv was! Well, my plans for this year and next have taken a sudden left turn, and now I'm planning (hoping) my first (and likely last) coaster trip of the year, to be to Canada's Wonderland! Here's my question for the locals, or those in the know... I know the park is generally busy every day, and more crowded than the average park, but what are crowds typically like Labor Day (in the US) weekend? Here in the States, it's typically a busier than a normal weekend at an amusement park, but I wasn't sure whether it not being an official Holiday in Canada would have any bearing on the crowds. I'm currently looking to go to CW Sunday the 1st of September, but could potentially push it back a day to go on Labor Day itself. Another option will be going the following weekend, on Sunday the 8th. How would that day be crowds-wise, compared to Labor Day weekend? The big draw of going on the 1st is the 10:00 closing time, but would either Labor Day or the 8th be a better bet in terms of less people, thereby making the earlier close time not as big of an issue? Sorry for all of the questions, but I'm just not sure what to expect from this park, given the last time I was there was the year Behemoth debuted. Thanks in advance for any assistance rendered, and be prepared for me to probably ask a few more questions over the next couple of weeks! I'm getting excited to finally return to this park, and bring my kids along for their first time there (and out of the country, too!) Oh, one semi-related question I'm wondering... When does CW typically put their 2020 Platinum Passes on sale, and do they offer a free visit in the park the remainder of the year? I got my Platinum Pass from KI last time, and I believe it worked that way with the free visit, but I wasn't sure if CW did the same. I also think I remember passes going on sale in mid to late August, but I couldn't recall for certain, so I thought I'd ask. Thanks!
  20. Thanks for that info! That is helpful as I plan!
  21. Yeah, that's what I figured from what I'd read, and heard. Thanks!
  22. ^Cool! Thanks for the quick reply! I'm looking at going during the week, the week before the Memorial Day weekend next year, so I'm thinking it'll probably be open by then.
  23. I'm starting to plan some coaster trips out for next year, and I have a question for the locals/regulars. When doesDorney Park begin weekday operation, typically? Do they have a set week that is the same every year, or is it more variable. Also, am I correct in saying that this isn't a park I need a full day to experience, given I'm not going to go to the water park? Thanks in advance!
  24. I'm starting to plan some coaster trips out for next year, and I have a question for the locals/regulars. When does Canada's Wonderland begin weekday operation, typically? Do they have a set week that is the same every year, or is it more variable. Cedar Fair parks don't have any way to look back in their operation calendars, at least that I've found... Thanks in advance! Also, it's good to see some love up above for dive coasters! I love them, and think they're a great coaster concept, and execution! I'm really excited to ride Yukon Striker, for this very reason, and hope to next year! I don't get the enthusiast hate for these coasters, but oh well... Just one more thing I'm not in sync with enthusiasts on!
