  1. Well, both this one, and the new one going into SFGAdv, are marketed as being "17 stories high", which means in the 170 foot range, I believe. I'm just curious if the one at GAdv is actually a little higher, or if they're basically the exact same thing.
  2. I'm excited about this! Never made it out to SFA yet, but rode Apocalypse when it was Iron Wolf, and as with most Standups, "meh"... So any Floorless conversion is a good Floorless conversion to me! (Though, I'd like to check out Georgia Scorcher while it's still a stand-up, since it's regarded as one of the better ones - I'm glad it didn't get the conversion treatment this year!)
  3. ^Ahhh, you're right. It's not a Tourbillon, but rather some kind of "dark ride experience." If it's like those other things you described (or even Houdini), that sounds pretty cool to me!
  4. I mean... More than likely, considering it's Six Flags we're talking about here, they just went with a name that they didn't need to copyright, and that's why they added the "Six Flags" onto the front of it, to differentiate the two coasters, since they're essentially in the same general market.
  5. I'm very curious where this new Screampunk area is going to be located... Anybody know?
  6. Man! I really love this park! I need to get back so badly! Similar to their announcement about SFOT's Larson Looper, I am wondering if this is tying the "World's Largest" record that Wonder Woman is setting over at SFGAdv, or coming up just shy of that ride's swing height?
  7. An unsurprising (considering they are one of the few SF parks not to get one of these lately) addition for SFOT, but a solid one, bolstering their burgeoning flat collection! ( ) My one question, is whether this is actually a little taller than Mardi Gras Hangover at SFGAm, or whether they're the same height, and therefore it's technically tying the record?
  8. And they are creating a pretty cool little DC area over there as well in the process! I definitely hope 2019 is the year I can somehow make it out the SFDK for the first time! (Since my plans to do it, and WCB, this Fall, are DOA... )
  9. Yeah, this'll get me back to the closest SF park to me next year! With its location near the front of the park, this is going to be a VERY popular coaster for the majority of people to go to first thing! Here's hoping that makes Goliath's lines a little smaller for those of us who would choose to go there first instead!
  10. I'm pretty sure this is a Tourbillon ride, like the Cyborg ride at SFGAdv and Harley Quinn Spinsanity at SFOT. I'm curious where it'll be located. I would guess in the DC area with most of the other DC themed rides, but it's getting pretty crowded over there!
  11. Funny! This is my exact prediction as well! I guess great minds and all...
  12. I have never once had an issue with it in all my years going to the park, including 5 times this year.
  13. My Top 10 Overall is posted in my sig. But breaking it down further... Top 10 Steel 1. Steel Vengeance 2. Fury 3. Millennium Force 4. Maverick 5. Twisted Timbers 6. Storm Chaser 7. Phantom's Revenge 8. Kraken 9. Expedition Everest 10. Mako Top 10 Wood 1. The Voyage 2. Lightning Rod 3. El Toro 4. Goliath (SFGAm) 5. Ravine Flyer II 6. Shivering Timbers 7. Mystic Timbers 8. White Lightning 9. Cornball Express 10. Mine Blower
  14. I think some people had already ferreted out this information, but Carowinds officially announced on Twitter that their "largest announcement in history" will be on August 30th. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing what they have in store for this new coaster, because if it's at all close to as good as I've heard Helix is, it'll really solidify Carowinds' place as a destination park in the South! (And this, coming from somebody who holds the park in rather lackluster regard - Fury excepted, of course!)
  15. They don't allow you to drive back to that lot in the mornings but you can park in the regular parking lot and take the new boardwalk path that the entrance is located near Gatekeeper in the parking lot and that will take you along the beach to the Breakers entrance and yes that is the closest entrance to Steel Vengeance. Since when don't they allow you to drive back there in the morning? I did it every time I went but once (when I chose to park up front) this year. Plus, if you're staying in The Breakers JJLehto, you'll be allowed to park there anyway, and go in that entrance.
  16. My thoughts on the BIG announcement for SFGAdv (yes, I know all parks had the same wording)... The world's largest Giant Discovery, named (wait for it) Goliath!
  17. I've seen this on a couple trips before, it's not uncommon. It even happened on my last trip back in late May 2018. Same here. I've seen it a bunch. But maybe that's because I typically only go when I know crowds are going to be light, so they are more likely to have on 1 train ops on many of the coasters. Seeing an actual duel on Gemini is rare for me anymore! But it's worth it, to have substantially less wait time than during the busy Summer season.
  18. While my guess of Racer backwards was off, I'm fine with this addition (or should I say return) to the park. Antique cars are fun, especially with the kiddos, and KI is really becoming a premier park for family friendly attractions of all shapes and sizes! After taking my three oldest kids for the first time last year, they actually said they liked it more than Cedar Point! High praise, and not a condemnation of CP either, which they also love. But there is just so much for families of all compositions to do at KI, now including the Antique Cars (once again!) As for all the "controversy", I will say that at first blush, announcing this on "National Roller Coaster Day", of all days, was a bit confusing (some could even say misleading - not that a park's never done that before to mess with people! lol). However, knowing the significance of the date being the last day of operation of the old Antique Cars, I'd agree that it was a perfect day to announce it! I also know they had a separate celebration to commemorate NRCD (which got postponed anyway), and they may have led to some confusion. I know I read both announcements back to back, and in my memory, they meshed. So, that's not on KI at all, but could be an explanation for some of the people's responses, if they were similarly mistaken. Regardless, the lack of a coaster announcement today (which I never expected) didn't faze me, and it's unfortunate that so many people got bent over it. The Antique Cars are a nice addition for one of the best all around parks for families already, and with a new coaster apparently on the horizon in 2020, nobody should be complaining about anything!
  19. I'm going to throw my official hat in the ring for what's old being new again, being the backwards train on Racer. Additionally, I could see refurbishments to it, and enhancements, such as the lighting package. I do think that the Antique Cars could be a possibility as well, though it really seems to me that those types of rides have been making their way OUT of parks, not into them - mostly due to maintenance issues. That makes it seem unlikely to me they'll be returning. However, if they do, I definitely agree that the old Dinos Alive area would make a lot of sense for their location! Regarding the seemingly increased likelihood that B&M will be coming to the park in the next couple of years, I'm still of the opinion that it won't be a Giga, even though it seems that what most enthusiasts want. Personally, I think a Wing coaster, back in the trees, would be a fantastic new coaster, that could feature plenty of "near misses!" Now, that would be more unlikely if the old SOB station is being used, as that cleared out area there wouldn't offer much in the way of "forest". But if they were to either place it in the old Dinos Alive area, or even back where the old Spongebob Show was. Regardless of what is coming, it sounds like KI is going to be getting even more awesome than it already is!
  20. I love almost everything about Yukon Striker! I'm a fan of the Dive Coasters (strangely, an unpopular opinion among enthusiasts - though the GP eat them up), and this easily looks like it'll be the best! My kids have ridden both Valravn, and ShieKra, and loved them both (ShieKra was one of my kids' favorite coasters at BGT), so I look forward to taking them all to ride this, and visit CW for their first time, next season! (Better get working on getting our Passports in order I guess!) It's a great looking coaster (aside from that orange color again - though I do appreciate the homage to SkyRider), in a great location in the park, and a great addition for CW! I LOVE the dive into the tunnel, and also all of the interaction between the coaster, and the walkways! Decker and Co. hit another HR with this coaster's development, and placement, and I can't wait to see it in person! As for the name, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Though I also never had a problem with Mystic Timbers, either! (And is there any way we can make Decorating Gravel Weasel happen? Because that needs to happen! ) Here's my take on this... Cedar Point got TONS of glory, and publicity out of Valravn, which regardless of what enthusiasts think of it, was a mega hit with the GP! I took a bunch of friends who aren't enthusiasts (which is pretty much all of my friends! lol), and they were in awe of its imposing appearance, regardless of its ride experience. However, Steel Vengeance is the new hotness at CP this year, and it received a TON of publicity, and glory (and a little bit of negative press, for obvious reasons.) As such, CP has more than moved past the "We have the tallest, fastest, and bestest Dive Coaster" phase. So, given what massive publicity whores (pardon my terminology) Dive Coasters are, it only makes sense that CF builds another massive one in one of its premier parks, and being able to tack on all the requisite "bests" and market it as such, was a natural way to go! It'll get tons of press, both in Canada and America, and no doubt be a hugely popular attraction for CW for years to come!
  21. This is very true! If CP had moved Rougarou to almost any other park in the chain (with the exception of KD, for obvious reasons), it would immediately become one of the most popular coasters there! To say the CP spoils its patrons when it comes to roller coaster thrills, is an understatement.
  22. Nothing like going to an Amusement Park to spend a day with your friends... Only to ditch them for all of the coaster lines because you want to get more rides in! I mean, to each their own, but I never go to a park alone, and part of the fun and point of going to a park is to spend time with the people I'm with. If I went to a park with a group of friends, and one of them ditched us to use a fast lane, I'd think of them as a douche, and not a very good friend. But that's just me... If you consider Knott's a theme park, then definitely! Well, I've never been to Knott's Haunt, so I really shouldn't have an opinion on it! However, when I refer to the Haunt experience - at least to me - I'm including the experience of the park ambiance, and especially the coasters I'm able to ride in the dark. Given KI has the best collection of coasters to ride in the dark, that weighs heavily on that statement of mine, and would probably mean I would still prefer it over Knott's, even if I did experience Knott's. I mean, you know me, and my typical lack of interest in the haunt mazes first hand!
  23. Thats crazy. I can't remember it being ever more then a couple of train wait. This past wednesday it was a walk on all day. For those that complain about the crowds the best time to go is during the week. You think that's crazy? I remember in its early years, waiting an hour for WT! For those that complain about the crowds, the best time to go IS during the week... before June! I enjoyed sub-hour waits for SV, and near walk-ons for everything else!
  24. ^August is the best month of the year, that's why! (Me saying that has NOTHING to do with my Birthday being this month! ) In regard to CCMR, it was my first favorite roller coaster ever, way back in the early 80's, and I'm certainly appreciative of its place in CP lore. However, its time has come and gone, in my opinion, and I've been hoping for years now for its removal, and the opening up of plenty of room for a large addition there. My kids don't even care much about riding it anymore, and as somebody else mentioned, it's SUPER uncomfortable for a grown adult to even fit in those trains. There are better Mine Train Coasters elsewhere, and again, it's just space better used for something else... Like a family friendly, wooden, GCI coaster like Mystic Timbers! Heck, you can even theme it to a mine, or call it New Cedar Creek Mine Ride, or whatever! There's plenty of room for a decent sized one too, with the CCMR footprint, and the old Shoot the Rapids area on the island. Add in the outgoing Dinosaurs Alive area too, perhaps, for some cool interaction with MF. I know some are calling for CCMR's replacement to be a family coaster, but honestly, there is plenty for families to do already at CP (believe me, as a family man of a large family myself, I can speak to this), and I would consider a fun, but not extreme woodie, like Mystic Timbers to be a family friendly attraction. Honestly, back in that Frontier Town/Trail area, is really the only place I think a wooden coaster like this fits well, since as much as it'd be cool, I really don't ever foresee a Beach Boardwalk woodie near GateKeeper. I do suspect that if we see a new coaster in place of CCMR, it'll be a 2020 addition, with either its "Farewell Season" next year on its 50th Anniversary, or having it close this year, with land clearing and prep next year (similar to SV). I'd guess the former, personally. I've heard a few other interesting things from sources that I would not consider on the level of the Dippin' Dots guy (not in reference to CCMR though), but I suspect that anything stemming from those tidbits would be on a smaller scale. Of course, I think this could all just be a humorous troll job by Cedar Fair, too! I guess we'll know a little more before too long, likely, as CF announcement season is fast approaching!
