  1. Volcano is a special case of low capacity + enormous popularity = long as hell lines. I waited 2+ hours in the hot sun to ride and I can only imaging how much worse it would have been with 4 rows
  2. ^You do have a point, Gatekeeper was designed to open up views of the beach and was also designed with being photogenic in mind. Something along the lines of that design strategy would look pretty great along the lakefront.
  3. The Safari Village has an identity crisis (What does NASCAR, Aliens, and Explosions have to do with the Safari?)
  4. ^I agree, that sound gets me amped for the ride every time and gets the whole station loud! I like I305's recording better than Intimidator's, it's more exciting
  5. I read somewhere that it's 164ft... 4ft more than FullThrottle's loop! For you guys that use the metric system that's 50m vs FT's 49m.
  6. I know what he's talking about, and he's correct. I305 won't be rethemed or renamed. The sale was to get rid of overstock. It was posted on some other sites so it's not new to me
  7. They probably took down the cam website so people can't see the perhaps chaotic situation going on right now
  8. Oh boy, it's SFOG all over again. Though I do feel bad for the guy who got killed, it was completely his fault. It was his decision to take the incredibly ill-advised risk of entering a restricted ride area, when there are fences, and with signs everywhere warning against it. It's ignorance, and unfortunately he paid the price. The wrong decision led to the wrong fate. Condolences to his friends and family
  9. Nah bro they'd rename it to something like Wavehawk1986
  10. It's certainly possible though I'm not sure how likely. The survey did say "Future attractions" and not "2016 attractions" so it could be for the next few years. Rather than back to back years I can see us getting an off year in between, getting a coaster in 2016 then 2018
  11. I always knew CP was at the top but not knowing better, Knott's surprised me. Didn't know it was that high up in terms of revenue. Also, I'm surprised that KI makes so much more than the other Paramount parks (excluding CW). I always knew how it worked in terms of attendance and priority, but seeing the revenues gives me a new perspective
  12. Uhh guys, it looks like we found what CP's doing with VR (I'm surprised nobody caught this on CF's analyst day release) Looks like whoever said they would use virtual reality for the coaster announcement was right. There's also "virtual reality coaster pilot", whatever that means.
  13. I'm just saying, a low capacity ride like that so close to the entrance does not sound like a good idea to me. Superman has decent capacity as a B&M but because of its location it constantly has a long wait. Now take that factor and apply it to a low capacity ride and you're looking at enormous lines at all times for many years. It just doesn't seem like a good fit at all, but it's most likely
  14. I saw it, it was an interesting clip for sure. It made me want to get out and ride Thunderbird even more!
  15. It means the Paramount Parks are not as high up in the chain as we thought, at least by revenue.
  16. I saw it last night, it was pretty good. There was a clip on Steel Dragon 2000 where I briefly saw Robb lol. The Thunderbird portion was cool too, but I'm pretty sure I've ridden Kingda Ka so many times that no launch (besides Dodonpa) would jack up my heartrate like that
  17. It says "Interactive Dark Ride/Digital Experience". It's obviously for Valravn or whatever CP is doing with VR for 2016
  18. ^What exactly happened on Magnum? I suppose it may have something to do with hydroplaning but I haven't heard of this accident and what it had to do with rain
  19. I'm glad another park decided to eliminate assigned seating. It's a horrible idea and I'd rather wait a little more for the front/back than have a slightly reduced wait only to sit where I may not want to. Though this also means the end of the SRL, I say it's worth it; the gears should be moving smoothly now, and efficiency of the ride can only go up.
  20. I second this. I'm pretty sure we'd abuse our power and add another Intamin Prefab though
  21. KD's is sometime this month (it said in a news article that it would be mid-August) and I know SF's announcements are September 3rd
  22. SF put out the announcement date on Facebook today and it's September 3rd just like everyone said before. I'll throw in another vote against the S&S Free Spin, it doesn't seem that great and I'd rather have a traditional coaster
  23. I had a dream where I was on Volcano and the volcano actually erupted for some reason and there was ash and lava everywhere but for some reason it didn't touch us. The layout was much different than in real lift, it was miles long and wove around the park and the volcano erupting and us speeding away made it one insane dream. About a month later I actually went on it for the first time
  24. B&M: Hyper Intamin: Giga RMC: Prefab, if that counts (they played a major role in El Toro so..) Arrow: Looper Vekoma: Boomerang (only type of Vekoma I've been on) Mondial: Windseeker S&S: Drop Towers (still haven't been on one of their coasters yet)
  25. My point is "forceless" is the wrong word and is a very strong adjective as you said. Sure, B&M's nowadays are less forceful than their older Stengel-designed counterparts, but they're far from forceless. Predictable is a better word, and maybe a bit "over-engineered" to the point where it's not surprising, as you said. Wicked Cyclone has a million wierd and very quick banking transitions and surprising forces that make it like few coasters on earth. B&M's have been around for so long that there are a lot of them similar to each other (since so many parks wanted at least one), so the same elements being used again and again got old. RMC does nothing like that and each layout has new elements, and if they use old elements they incorporate them completely differently. B&M created the perfect coaster with the older models, and they haven't changed them much since so it's nothing new to us. Of course, Fury is the exception, I think B&M went all out with that. For the record though, Gatekeeper seems to be a coaster that has being photogenic in mind, and is not extremely forceful (notice how I didn't use forceless?) which makes it rideable (and re-rideable) for all ages
