Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
SoCal_Coaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, but if you take away some length and height after the first drop...you get more airrtime and a more intense ride overall. If the ride is too long, then it'll will start to meander due to loss of momentum. I have never heard of an RMC coaster meandering due to loss of momentum. Texas Giant was pretty similar to Mean Streak before its makeover, and it doesn't meander through the course due to loss of momentum now. You get plenty of airtime, and the ride is over all pretty intense. Wicked Cyclone definitely looses momentum and speed probably the last third of the ride. Never the less, it is still insane. The ride isn't as tall as Mean Streak, so it won't loose momentum, but I was just pointing out a ride I knew fit the bill. -
TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS

1. Banshee 2. Afterburn 3. Raptor 4. Silver Bullet 5. B:TR clones 6. Goliath SFFT I know Goliath is a batman clone, but to me, it was extremely rougher than the others. -
TC. Is. Amazing. Period. Alright the drop is second to only one other El Toro, but you don't have one, you have two! This ride needs to be experienced. Was at the park for 6 hours. Not too long, but it was long enough to have a great time. Here is the scorecard: Twisted Colossus 4x (3 stand-by, 1 single rider) Scream! 2x Apocolypse 1x Tatsu 1x Full Throtle 1x Not too many rides, but when you get to ride a world class coaster over and over 4 times, you're bound to have a good time. There were many pros about today including I can say from experience that Single Rider rocks. While the stand-by line wasn't long, (it was a mere 25 minutes) the single rider line got us in in under 5.That's pretty darn sweet! Speaking of TC, their ride crew was getting people out in as minimum time possible. We timed them one time at 1 min. 23 sec. We got plenty of races. Another pro is that Superman wasn't running one side, it was running two. Good job Six Flags! Now to the cons: The security guard in front of TC claimed that since we knew each other (I went with my brother) we couldn't get in line. What? We didn't care wheather or not we rode together. That was the most stupid rule i've ever heard of! Then when we went separately, he still called us out! Eventually we got on when he left. Btw, there was lift hill work being done with a crane on Goliath. They eventually stopped mid-day. Overall, it was a good day!

Ninja - Six Flags St. Louis I'm soooo mad! I counted wrong and realized I forgot Poltergeist at SFFT. Instead of the Voyage, my 100 is the Great Pumpkin Coaster. -

What is your next park?

Magic Mountain in two days. Although I've been there plenty, I always get stoked; It's an theme park! BTW, first time on Twisted Colossus! Can't wait! -
When I visited the park, it seemed that most people didn't know what Zumanjaro was. In fact, most people would walk up to the Zumanjaro line expecting it to be Kingda Ka. When at the park Zumanjaro was broken down, we waited outside the queue and watched person by person be redirected by the employee at the front of the line. To them, Zumajaro was just three orange lines going down Kingda Ka. This shows two things: The first being that they need to establish a more significant entrance for Kingda Ka. It is secluded be lockers where it is difficult to find. After all, for the time being, it is the world's tallest roller coaster! The other being that people need to be able to see Zumanjaro from inside the park better. At Magic Mountain, people see LL:DoD and want to ride it. At GAdv, people don't see Zumanjaro and they will never be able to experience the thrill of dropping 415 feet in the air. I could be wrong, but these are the things I noticed while around the park.

Isn't the Mean Streak layout similar to the old Texas Giant layout. I may be mistaken, but if it is, RMC could really shine on that project. -

Looks like a great addition to the park! There is very few downsides to adding one of these to any park. Thumbs up for Lake Compounce; great choice! -

I rode Boulder Dash this summer and it was amazing. Wasn't rough or painful in any way. My mom, who went with me, normally can't tolerate wooden coasters (somehow they hurt her head). Boulder Dash was an exception in this case along with El Toro. Great ride though. Definitely top ten material! -

Was at the park today as we'll for the first time with my cousins and this was also the case. This park has the best wooden roller coaster lineup ever! The Boss is insane, Screamin' Eagle has tons of floater, and American Thunder is a great GCI. Put that with a classic B&M invert, a launcher, and a great arrow looper , you have a great small park. I didn't get to ride everything, so we are looking to go back later on the trip. BTW, is Superman SBNO? My cousins said it doesn't operate regularly like the other rides at the park do. Don't know weather to believe them or not (they live five minutes away, so they go quite a bit), so I want to hear from others what they say.

Roller coaster cravings!
SoCal_Coaster replied to TheHalonSystem's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A couple weeks ago I took the trip of a lifetime to some AMAZING parks. Since then, I have been craving to ride the likes of Wicked Cyclone, Millennium Force, and El Toro. It sounds crazy, but I wish I was still there on my trip. -
Since the announcement of TC, I have been dying to ride it, not just because it looks like an amazing ride, but I also love RMC's. So far I have ridden three in this order from favorite to least favorite: NTag, WC, and IRat. For those who have ridden TC, where do you think it will rank in that order and in your personal order. Thank you!

Pennsylvania Trek Help
SoCal_Coaster replied to Jodon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
When at Great Adv, I highly agree that purchasing a flash pass is worth the money, but not the platinum. While it may cut your wait down less and let's you ride twice on some rides, a gold is just fine. It still cuts your wait by 50 percent! Also, when we went to Great Adventure, the line for El Diablo (The ride limited to Platinum only) was never long. You could wait one circuit and be on. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
SoCal_Coaster replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I took two visits to Carowinds this summer and both times we ate at Harmony Hall. While it might not be the best food, as when was any theme park's food is to die for (except the Cinnamon Bread at Dollywood), it has quantity. The ones I remember seem to be burgers, BBQ, Italian, and salads. There might be more I can't put my tongue on. To find Harmony Hall, from the front gate walk to the left past Intimidator and it will be on your left. Hope this helps! -

The "perfect" roller coaster
SoCal_Coaster replied to LiftThrill's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For a while I have wondered what a B&M hyper would look like, but instead of the normal lift hill, it would be a launch followed by a gigantic airtime hill. Basically continue with this with two airtime hills followed by a turnaround similar to Fury 325's after it crosses the entrance. After this element, it should follow up with more airtime hills, yet this time with different heights of drops, similar to Nitro. This could give the sense that the ride is almost over, but seconds later you would get thrown into a larger hill than the previous. The last feature (which has none to do with the ride course) is where the on ride photo should be taken. I would love to see, on a traditional coaster, a photo on the first drop and some peoples reactions to it, but because it features a launch rather than a lift hill, it should be at the end of the launch zone and before the first hill. This might not be the perfect coaster, but it is an idea I have had planted in my head for a while.
