  1. It's damn hot in the Ozarks right now but not anything they haven't seen before, this isn't anywhere close to the 115 degree days a few years back. There's been plenty of rain so it is mainly a humidity thing . There's not even a burn ban in place that one may normally see this time of year. Buy a 20oz Soda, drink and use empty bottle at water fountains.
  2. So, how's Mr. Zamperla's endeavor to make Venice's trash heap island a theme park going?
  3. How far is all of this in relationship to the indoor Warner Bros. Park? This is right there with Yaz and Ferrari right?
  4. This was not my impression of Fiesta Texas.
  5. If I was wanting a primo location with little competition and high visibility spot on a Iconic American Waterway with two of the busiest travel interstates in America with a major entertainment district right there as well, I'd look at Memphis, specifically Mud Island. Bass Pro in the Pyramid is proving folks will stop when drawn to something.

  7. Yeah, some enthusiasts took their wishes out of their butts and plopped them on the Internet. There was never a shred of evidence to substantiate that at all. The problem with wanting SDC to get these super-tall rides is that the park is so immersive in its theming that something that huge, visible from all over the park, would actually detract from the experience unless it were similarly very well themed. They've proven with Giant Barn Swing that they can do that, but they spent a lot to do it, and that was pre-recession too. In general, all parks are spending less right now because the economy is only just beginning to recover and a return on gigantic, super-expensive things just isn't likely to happen for a lot of places. The crazy thing is, the park is actually doing quite well attendance wise - so much so that they are having to address problems they should have a long time ago. The biggest being crowd flow. They have been forced to redesign areas for better traffic in the park. The main issue (which they are rumored to fix this off season) is the entry area. Rumor is that Spirit may land at BKG soon. Cheap airfare for this new ride is very possible. Attendance could really boom so infrastructure would of upmost importance to fix. Not a rumor. Still unannouced, but the stars are lining up.

  9. Folks that hate going upside down think the same way
  10. SDC had a perfect park for a star flyer, they closed it prematurely instead finding the right operating model or it. They could use some themed up enclosed flats especially with the Christmas Season being more and more important to their bottom line. I think that's why so many ethusiast that frequest the park would love to see a new indoor coaster as well.
  11. One of the bigger complaints I hear from family, frends and just others in passing is that the backward cars of TNT are gone. There's a bit of euthusiast preference going on. Who sez a company can't build a wooden shuttle coaster that's not memorable anyways. Out of the rides we last did on our recent trip, the ZDT woody was my crew's favorite including anything at SWSA and SFFT. As for capacity, you are talking about a park that put in a super low cap shot tower when they could have likely scored another, identical one used somewhere to compliment the existing one from CC for chump change. Anyhoo, I have my opinions, you have yours, ain't no big thing Mr Furious, The park was called 7 kingdoms Mountain Pavilion search that along with Mack Spinner and you'll find pics.
  12. Nope, a Hyper out in the back 40. I love the Karnan concept for a Mystery Mine type ride considering both are Gerstlauer made. I think the park could benefit from a custom Mack Spinner, the inside the mountain Mack Spinner going into that indoor park in China would help round out the coaster collection. I'd love to see a shuttle woodie like Switchback at ZDT with larger trains or the GCI version they have shown.
  13. Oh, I wasn't thinking it was competition, just that that coaster would have fit the theme here a bit better. Yeah, ZDT was just a little out of the way for my San Antonio trip, so we hit it up for a few hours before going on up to New Braunfels and ShlitterBahn.
  14. A new Facebook post where it states the historical reference point for the park will be trains, all of which will be fully restored. They show a pic of a tunnel. States a spring 2017 opening. If that's the case, this will be a work in progress. What is a bit of bad timing I guess, is that ZDT, about 3 hrs away got Switchback with it's train theme. Would have been a perfect fit for a train inspired park. I rode Switchback about a dozen times a few weeks back, it's a fun ride perfectly suited for a small park.
  15. I am eagerly awaiting their arrival on the Mississippi in 2018.
  16. Having just been to Aquatica San Antonio, this would be a perfect addition there.
  17. TripAdvisor awarded SDC #24 in Top Attractions of the World. I like it's in a list with all the Disneys, Universals, SeaWorlda, Ocean Kingdom, Port Adventuras, Europas of the world.
  18. Isn't the WB park all indoors? IMG? A lot of Sony And Bolly? Most of FerrariWorld? I would think that most of the queue's at a park like this Sis Flags branded one will be air conditioned and like Shave said, there's a pretty large indoor section, so you can go in and out, taking breaks from the sun. I see it like this, their summer is like winter in the States, I would plan my trips to the UAE Oct to May and avoid the Summer.
  19. It's not mandatory, but if you're referring to abayas (the cloaks without the face covers), then yes. All girls have to wear them even on rides. The thing about Burqas (face covers) is that the really conservative women wear them. Some even wear gloves to cover their hands. A lot of girls have to wear Hijabs (headscarf), because religion, and by law, every girl has to wear an Abaya ( in public. One or two really conservative religious policemen (yes, that's a thing. They're called Mutawwas btw) might ask you to cover your head, but I guess a hat counts, too, since my mom just puts one on and then they leave. My mom refuses to wear Hijabs since they're a religious symbol (We're both Catholics and she takes religion kind of seriously) I know I went way too far, there, but hope that answered your question. Just don't stick your neck out for anything and be wary of any coaster with a headchopper.
  20. What money are they sopping up? If you are talking about property tax breaks, that was going to happen whether East Rutherford was going to issue bonds or not. That's standard stuff when haggling big development stuff. I think it was telling that the Mayor was not happy about the possible switch to the Wisconsin backed bonds because with them being a tax exempt, it would increase IRS scrutiny. A Jersey mayor not wanting the IRS poking around, hmmmmmm....that nasty "paperwork" that it would take. This crew got in via Jersey politics and desperation got far enough along that that they hold most of the leverage and now wish to rid themselves with dealing with the local politicos. Shrewd, shrewd folk. Plus they are waiting on if there is going to be a vote for gambling. Local Rep favors the Hard Rock bid, hold mall hostage to show displeasure.
  21. So, let's see. They want to decouple the bond issuance thru a Jersey Gov Entity and instead use Wisconsin( via a rare ability to issue them for out of state projects) with less tax burden thus lower interest payout costs to them. Stop development to see how the whole issue of North Jersey casinos is going to play out because they would be interested in adding it to the mix thus changing the layout. What I know, they are expanding Edmonton and Mall of America, proceeding with developing Miami including land purchases. They don't seem to have money issues elsewhere and it's not slowing their roll one bit. Nope, there's angles being played here and it will still get done once that's all played out. Better hope their Dreamworks rights are solid though. This explains the bond issue much better than that other article and with as much money on the line as this is, saving it is a big deal http://www.northjersey.com/news/american-dream-developer-explores-altering-1b-bond-sale-1.1553771
  22. The knock on the Grand Expo amongst SDC purists is that the premise of the area was solid but the execution with standard, off the self Zamperla flats gave it a cheap look . It was seen as a major failing and that's valid point. If the rides all had an shared comestic make up, oh say like, Tivoli Gardens(the epitome of a turn of the century Grand Expo feel) with it's green and gold and if it had a touch of steampunk to make the rides appear old school futuristic it would have been amazing . The kiddie coaster is kinda there already and the Disko as well. The dumbos needed to be futuristic looking zeppelin air ships, the pirates ships should have been steamships and the swinging ship Jules Verne esque. The tea cups and Wave swing just a different color scheme. I hope these ride get the rework the balloons did one did, it was and still is beneath the effort put forth everywhere else in the park. You'd expect what happened at Magic Springs, where it would be major and wonderous for the park but not for SDC. SDC needs to strive to be the best themed, most diverse theme park between the Appalachians and the Rockies. It's not a babysitter, it's target markets are a bit removed for it to a pick up and drop off park like urban Six Flags. A manager at SDC will tell that's bread and butter is a 250 mile radius but can grow it's appeal further.
  23. Well, there's hi lo silos. I agree there needs to be a kiddie/tot ride while mom waits for the big kids to knock out the Swing and OR. With how The Chirstmas Season has grown into a monster for them, they need rides that are more weather proof. A couple of enclosed , themed up famity flats would be great. Given the farm and western feel to the area, a enclosed ride themed to square dancind based on the Larson/Gordon Mega Whirl, kinda gives you something along the lines of a tilt a whirl and the Mater's ride at DCA on a smaller scale , another would an enclosed cow/livestock themed bumper car ride and an outdoor spoke design wagon themed ferris wheel for little kids and mom's [youtu_be] [/youtu_be][youtu_be] [/youtu_be] On the Insectarium, I get what you are saying. I'd love Half Dollar not be touched because any growth there takes away from the Swinging Bridge. They put the small swings back there but it's missing at least another kiddie ride. It would really give it a comeplete feel with the carousel and little wave swing along with the play structure. This and Fireman's seem to make the Insectarium expendable. Maybe the Dalmation Hopper makes the happy frogs expendable as well, I doubt it.
  24. That little figure of kiddie rides would likely be relocated, mostly to Half Dollar Holler but I could see one place in the Wilson's Farm area. The original Concept for the Giant Swing has an additional kiddie ride there. That spot is basically still there and mainly occupied by the Frog racing table which is underused. See the swings in the center right So, I predict two of the three kiddie rides to the back of Half Dollar Holler, and one here.
