  1. Gold Striker, row 12...chock full of airtime! This was ridden this past Sunday...to be ridden/marathoned tonight (CGA Passholder special event)
  2. I've never done Bash but I assume it works like the Bay Area Weekend a couple years ago. With that, once you placed your order (and I printed everything just in case), that's it. As it draws closer to the event I received an email showing the finalized details of the event. When it came to arriving at the park, I just checked in and got my tickets there. The "Your Theme Park Review" order was a sufficient-enough confirmation for me, combined with my Paypal transaction receipt
  3. *drools...shorts out keyboard....also now needs to clean off computer screen...*
  4. Though nothing compared to my ride on Revolution at SFMM, next most uncomfy coaster I rode was the Pole Position coaster at the state fair. It was a fun ride and all, were spinning good but being suddenly yanked backward weren't so nice to the family jewels...along with the quick-hitting trim brakes halfway through.
  5. Warm, sunny...yesterday was warm and muggy...yuck! Currently 75 in Hayward, CA...feels warmer.
  6. Said it in WCB thread but will say it here since I've been ecstatic all day today...I finally moved forward and signed up for WCB 2013, both parks! This will be my first ever WCB and I think it's going to turn out awesome! I'm really looking forward to my weekend getaway from the Bay (and snag some credits too)! And ^ Yes...Gold Striker Fever! I seriously can't wait to 'unwind' after what will be a crazy day at work...unwind via riding your favorite coaster!
  7. Bit the Silver Bullet (yes, Knott's coaster reference). But yea, I finally made the decision to move forward with WCB as I have a pretty solid travel plan. I can figure out lodging in the coming weeks, but needed to secure my spot as who knows when spots will run out (my biggest worry).
  8. Well, I bit the bullet and registered for WCB this morning/paid...all set! I'm totally pumped for this!
  9. As long as he has a processed season pass, I don't see why it wouldn't work. As long as the pass is processed and valid, I'd say it would work! I would HIGHLY recommend getting your friend to get his pass purchased and processed during normal park hours, while processing is open. I don't think there will be "After Hours" pass processing.
  10. I'm not sure how crowds will be since it is a weeknight and many have work in the morning. For the ERT, obviously we show our passes to get in, and it looks like we will also show our passes at the entry of each ride *grabs Six Flags lanyard and stuffs CGA pass inside for ease of pulling out.* I can't wait for this! Maybe I'll get out a bit before 8:00 just so that I'm out there and snag a few extra rides...I'm off work at 5PM so I should probably grab dinner and head on out!
  11. I'm there 'queefa. Probably gonna arrive around 6:30/7- can't wait for that ERT on Vortex Let's Strike it up! You can go ahead and ride Vortex I'll be spending some quality time on Gold Striker! Let's see how many laps I can hit Thursday evening!
  12. Confirmed, I will be there as well! After a crazy work day, this will be very rewarding! And just a few days later, I'll be back for a full day of striking gold again You know, those $10 Sky Flyer flights are tempting
  13. Well no parks/chains take it as seriously as Disney in my opinion, but you're right, I think they should. I do know that CGA does take line jumping pretty serious, when people are caught anyway.
  14. Awesome! There's nothing more satisfying than getting an idiot kicked out of a park...which I have done twice now...both involving a guest getting physical. And one was from a youth group/church leader at a local FEC who grabbed my brother.
  15. Gold Striker's queue is definitely bad in terms of graffiti, but nothing compared to T-Express's (bucket list coaster for many, including me) queue. The following two photos are from the TPR Korea Tour Mini-Update, you can check it out in the park index: Wow...that makes Gold Striker's queue look spotless clean. In the end any form of vandalism on a ride disgusts me. I can care less if Joe Schmoe was there...so was I and thousands of other guests. Also in terms of graffiti, I have seen a couple (glad it's not worse) gang stuff. Reason why I'm mentioning being glad that its not worse because I'd rather CGA not become overrun by the ghetto/gangster crowd.
  16. I've said it everywhere else, will say it here too...awesome video! SUF is definitely one of those strange yet awesome rides! Yes I'm proud to have a crazy machine like this in the area When the opportunity happens, I'd definitely try out all the different rows...6 being the craziest dosage of airtime, followed by being slammed into your seat in the hardest way possible (which is a good thing)...sudden g-force changes
  17. Dizzy from watching a POV from my mini quadcopter do pirouettes in my room...Yes, it has an onboard camera for aerial POVs
  18. Quick writeup for today... Overall a pretty solid visit and shout-outs to TPR member Mechanic, nice running into you again! (Last time I saw/met you was 2011 Bay Area Weekend at SFDK/CGA). Highlights: -7 laps on Gold Striker, running amazingly! Lots of back row rides to be had! Just made sure I would click myself in all the way before riding! -Gold Striker opened...with the park!!! I actually got on the first train of the day! -Some new Hauntness (See photos below) -Manageable crowds...shorter lines for Gold Striker that were about 20 minute waits. Toward the end of the day, everyone thought it would be a good idea to ride Flight Deck and that had a nearly full queue -Finally heard the music. Really adds to atmosphere but volume-wise it's a hit and miss. I know they're working on it. Where I noticed it strongest was over by the Flyers with the oldies music...can not go wrong with classics! Glad the "iPod playlist" is gone -Vortex running...SMOOTH?!? In the back row?!? What's going on? -Looks like Grizzly got a new bin (been there for a while actually but I *seldom* ride it these days so I wouldn't know what goes on there anymore. -Forgot to mention about the small wood cubbies at Vortex now gone...and lower locking bins added to Vortex. I now feel better about setting my bag down before boarding. Lowlights: More graffiti/continuous graffiti. I was kind of thinking in line earlier...especially in the dark tunnel part of the queue...whether if a faux rock wall or even stucco would make it next to impossible to graffiti...and do it in dark rock-like colors. Fence-wise, that's another issue. Light colors seem to be an attractant for graffiti...On the flipside, the entire queue has been now replaced with heavy gauge wire that one will end up breaking their fingers before the metal even considers thinking of bending... Back to the graffiti... I find photos on Instagram in which people were touting that they were writing on Gold Striker's queue. Smart, no? Smart... Flipside... Smart... I'm now anxious to check out the ERT session this Thursday...a great way to wind down after a busy day at work And here's some photos for you all! Let's start off the day...what do you see? (Common event that happened, all day...sadly..) Here's new "Hauntness" No. 1...Dia De Los Muertos! Maze is taking shape rather quick...wait, what's this? Paint! Mean time, it looks like it could potentially be a busy day at the park. Just for the fun of it...here's some tunnels...side tunnels, half tunnels, full tunnels...all to be taken! Still on Star Tower, one last look at DDLM. Over at the back of the park. No, we are NOT giving Grizzly a courtesy ride. Instead, we are here to see what's going on behind Grizzly. Land cleared...Wait, what's that on the lower left? Ah....I see what you're doing, CGA...trying to give us a hint or something? And I'll end this update with a few random shots of Gold Striker as that was one of our main focuses today I basically used my mega-zoom point 'n shoot camera to get random closeups of random riders on Gold Striker Taking the tunnel momentarily And I'll end it here...I shared this before but I am still digging this giant banner at the front of the park Haha...GS ate your sharpie
  19. Strongest I've done was Xcelerator...such an amazing launch! It actually left me with the butterfly-in-stomach feeling/left my stomach back at the station. I could also feel my face getting g-force-ified (stretched/distorted). I was a little nervous sitting in the front though...thankfully the Intamin cable gods were being nice.
  20. Double take here....is that Psy standing across the street? Looks like he's about to break out with Gangnam Style
  21. At least now we sort of know what's going on. Looking forward to riding it soon.
  22. Which is why I pointed out Grizzly and it's infamous lapbar seatbelt. I know on the Morgan trains it's running, there's a little window on the bottom side of the train that changes color when lapbar is closed (single position, all or nothing kind of lock). The additional seatbelt is used to indicate that the restraints are fully down (and the length of the belt to the lapbar *just* makes it...honestly, it's a little tough to reach the buckle).
  23. Throughput. Capacity. Redundant seat belts reduce them. Further adding to it...the ever-so-exciting Grizzly at CGA not only features a lapbar, but also has a normal seatbelt for each guest, plus a redundancy belt to ensure lapbar is closed. All of this equals out to long 5-minute dispatch times. Ironically, Grizzly is probably the last coaster I would think of that needs extra redundancy as one could probably safely ride that with probably simple buzz bars.
  24. I'd love to see something else in our fair circuits around here that's NOT a Pinfari... Butler Amusements loves Pinfari coasters so much that they recently acquired a 2nd identical Zyklon.
