Looks weird with no buckets, but your Corkscrew has an awesome color scheme! Looks great in the snow. -
Theme parks and coasters in the snow

Here's a webcam shot of Silverwood, just happened to look at it today and it's all white! KREM2 Silverwood Live Webcam http://www.krem.com/story/weather/skytracker2-network/silverwood/2014/10/08/silverwood-live-cam/16896823/ -
SFMM in Xmas Week
LuminousAphid replied to gus1971's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Does TC have a single rider line? How about Apocalypse? Is it still a good woodie? You never hear much about it any more I'm planning on going at the end of April as a single rider and I'm hoping I won't need a flash pass because it makes the park almost on par with Disney prices! -
Since it's the off season for much of the country, I figured I would help people get their fix and talk about where you can find some airtime or <1G forces in everyday life. I suppose other common ride forces like laterals are worth sharing too! Disclaimer: I take no responsibility for any stupid ideas you get from this thread, and anything you decide to go ahead and do (such as the classic car-over-hump airtime) is at your own risk. Since I have been getting into coasters and rides I have noticed there are quite a few instances in everyday life where I can find a little pop of airtime. The main method is one most people are probably familiar with; find a nice round hump in the road, drive fast enough to get a slight bit of air as the car's suspension rebounds, and drive away safely (this last part is important). I will reiterate that this may not be safe or legal, and could result in consequences: I rear-ended an old lady near my house when I was 16 by trying to do this in the rain. I have also been doing more hard turns in my old Thunderbird (especially on freeway off ramps since there is a safe runout/wall) to get that feeling of strong laterals on an underbanked turn- this is also very dangerous and you should not do it! The other thing that comes to mind is a recurring dream I have involving a high rise building and an "express" elevator. I don't work in a high rise, or use the elevator regularly so it's a weird dream, but I definitely remember being goaded by dream co-workers to take the express elevator down from the boss' office at the top. The elevator was normal inside, except that when it started down it turned into a freefall and I remember actually feeling that weightless sensation which often startles you awake. Except I usually don't wake up when I have had this dream. I don't remember myself or the people with me in the elevator bouncing around all over like we would if this actually happened, and all was fine when we got out at the bottom! I guess that's why I don't wake up, since I know it turns out ok

How do you evacuate a drop tower?
LuminousAphid replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That would be really, really unnerving--knowing the tower itself malfunctioned would not make me the most confident hanging against only those restraints, even if I knew they are very unlikely to also malfunction and pop. I'd imagine there would be that nagging thought: could it theoretically happen? There's a first time for everything, as they say. I would not want to be in that position, and I hope reviving this topic hasn't doomed me to that fate... -
Best Kiddie coaster ever
LuminousAphid replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not having ridden it, I have to say I would agree- it looks like fun, more than most kiddies you see. The PNE model looks fun too, I will have to try it when I finally make it up there! Also this is funny: Model name is just a bit outdated Are there any true kiddie woodies still around? -

LuminousAphid replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Another interesting (if morbid) question- if there is a scenario in which the tanks catastrophically fail, is there a backup brake system on hydraulic (or pneumatic for that matter) towers? And thanks comeagain, I never thought about it but I suppose the Larson towers are pretty much fail safe as far as the car itself goes. Also, it would be nice if there was a warning posted for videos involving people falling to their deaths- that was a bit shocking and unexpected. -

More thread revives! I keep finding these from ~10 years ago that are actually kind of interesting I don't know if they were around in 2006 or not- how about a Larson Super Shot? The main reason I looked up "evacuate" was actually because I got curious watching TPR's video of Sky Scream at Holiday Park, and was wondering- how would they get the train out if it valleyed on this ride? I guess evacuation would be fairly straightforward, but I wonder how they would hoist that train out of the low spot, considering how steep it is, and with that twist on both sides -
Best Kiddie coaster ever
LuminousAphid replied to dr.gumbo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here's something fun to revive! The best I have been on is probably just the one at my home park, which is powered anyway. I guess I actually haven't been on a true kiddie coaster... yet. I'm curious if there are any new ones that could hold the coveted "best kiddie coaster ever" title -
Thanks sir, I appreciate the tips on the hotel. I'm glad I decided to rent a car and can just park at the hotel, that way if I decide to head to Knotts one day or something I can still get there, or if at SFMM I can just park it for free! Thanks to everyone for the explanations on the pass... No, I have never been to a Six Flags ever, I am pretty much a theme park n00b, that's why I am asking so many annoying questions So, if I plan on going 2 days, should I get the season pass? I don't really know if I will come back or to any other parks within the year, but it seems like even 2 days would be significantly more expensive without a season pass- even at the summer prices for the pass? Are there discounts for single-day tickets that can make it cheaper than the $100 for a season pass? Last question; is there another thread I should be posting these questions in to avoid mucking up this one?

Disney Line Jumping policy
LuminousAphid replied to Jason82807's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No, that goes out the window as soon as Billy starts pouting after he's told he can't ride *insert ride name here* I'm going to assume that as a general rule, parks don't allow re-entering a line, but that doesn't mean you won't see it happening. It just comes down to how well the park polices the line, and most parks won't want to spend resources on something like that if it's not going to make them any money. Disney is probably the one exception and might kick people out of line (did they ever actually eject anyone from the park for doing this Zenith?), but I would not expect anything to be done about it in any other park. -
Oh ok, thanks for the info. It just looked really strange. Ok, so I am trying to plan this trip out a little more seriously now, and I have always had this question but never asked- what is the deal with season passes for Six Flags parks? Since the daily price is nearly the same price as a season pass and I'm planning on going multiple days, should I just get a season pass instead of waiting and buying daily tickets? How can they offer a season pass for the same price as 1 day? Is this the reason the park gets so ridiculously crowded? Does the price go up as the season gets closer? Also WTF is a "membership?" Can anyone point me to somewhere that clearly explains these things for someone who has never been? Also this is confusing to me: Which is why I am asking for help. It seems like the website should explain it all, but it's filled with inconsistencies like this. Sorry, lots of questions!

RCT2 La Ronde Recreation
LuminousAphid replied to djbrcace1234's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I highly doubt it, since not only would the station itself have to be hacked, the entrances and exits would also need to be hacked to allow peeps to enter them and somehow get onto the ride diagonally. New sprites would need to be imported for all that. But I'm no expert, I could be wrong! It would be awesome if such a thing exists. -
Game:Coaster Facts!
LuminousAphid replied to nicman's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Anyway... 1. it looks to be a powered coaster, 2. which takes the first lap slowly and then speeds up for a little more thrilling ride. 3. It's built by Mack! Next: Corkscrew - Playland @ the PNE -
That's what I'm beginning to lean toward, and I don't think I'll be going through LAX since I can pay $20 extra and go to Burbank. I was thinking I would go to LAX to save money on the flight and maybe car, but the extra headache and distance doesn't make sense. I have only been there once when I was very young so luckily I don't remember and am trauma-free, but I have heard it's just a place to avoid at all costs. I'm planning on staying at the Hilton Garden Inn right next to the park-it even has Six Flags in its name!-since I can get a very good employee rate. Has anyone been there? Any rooms to avoid? I hate getting stuck in a room with a floodlight outside, or some A/C unit right below your window edit; by the way, thanks for the rental car lookup, I didn't look at hotwire yet. You also showed me that if I leave on Thursday, it is $8 cheaper per day. Thanks! edit again; does anyone know what all this weird stuff west of the park is? It looks like a maze of dirt roads with random lots cleared out- sand pits? https://www.google.com/maps/@34.3907168,-118.6119073,3510a,20y,40.97t/data=!3m1!1e3

Show Us Your Favorite Park Pictures
LuminousAphid replied to parkjunkie's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here are some of mine, nothing special but here you go: Morning SpinCycle Classic Coaster at the Washington State Fair Rainier Rush and its next victims at the Washington State Fair Cartoon decapitation, best sign at Silverwood Tremors and Aftershock in the afternoon Aftershock Flyby And for some reason I like this pic of the wave swinger at the Washington State Fair -
Hey SoCal people, or anyone who has experience with SFMM- I'm planning a trip there is April after spring break, what is the best way to get from LAX or Bob Hope to SFMM? My hotel is right next door and has a shuttle to the park so I was thinking about skipping the rental car, but if it's going to cost me $100 each way I might look at just renting a car. Are there any public transportation options to the area, or has anyone had luck with an airport shuttle service like shuttle express? edit: I did not know Shuttle Express was local, but you know what I mean- the big van which drops people off at all the hotels for a flat rate

Very cool designs, now I feel sort of foolish with the thread I just posted. Though thanks to you, I will be able to actually take screenshots and post some of my better designs when I have time- thank you again for the help finding where everything was! I especially like Flash Hazard and NASA Jet Coaster. I like me a good Giga and Flash Hazard looks super cool. Ranchero also looks cool and Jet Set is just awesome. Good work!!

As the topic title states, this thread will be simple- post your best custom roller coaster designs from RCT2. Anything goes, whatever you feel is worthy of sharing I would love to see. I just love the infinite number of layouts the game allows you to create and I am continuously discovering new ways to make cool elements with the different coaster designs. I want to see what you guys have come up with! Here are a couple of my favorite coasters that I have designed that I have screenshots of; I will post more later when I have time to look through and take more screenshots of some better ones Doppelschleife SCR27.BMP My version of a Schwarzkopf looper, I made this a year or so ago SCR6.BMP Without scenery The Bullet SCR9.BMP My recreation of The Bullet from Flamingoland/Selva Magica, the game doesn't allow a turn before the reverse incline lift so I had to make it a launched instead. This gets my vote as the coolest shuttle coaster in existence, so I had to try to recreate it. Might make another version as a reverse incline later. High Dive SCR33.BMP This is a more recent design, I think I made this a couple months ago. Dive coasters are some of my favorite to play with Woodwork SCR36.BMP This was just a random design that turned out pretty cool, I might add more to the end section later Fear SCR41.BMP Here's another one I just came up with on the fly right now, I like using the twister launched lift hill but it often gets too ridiculous- this time I figured out I can space them out and it makes for a much smoother launch. Racing Dive Coaster Racing Dive Coaster.TD6 A racing "mobius" style dive coaster. Not perfect but the timing works pretty well, usually the trains reach the station at about the same time Sorry for the lack of scenery, I just don't put that much time into scenery most of the time So what are your best coaster designs?

Silverwood Discussion Thread
LuminousAphid replied to Damien666's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just in case anyone is planning a trip, for the next few days season passes are on sale for super cheap... If I was sure I was coming back next year I would definitely buy one, but I'm trying to go to SFMM and Orlando next year so I might not be able to get back to Silverwood. But if you plan on going even just 2 days, the pass would be only $1 extra since you get free parking with it. http://www.silverwoodthemepark.com/admission/season-passes.php I noticed they have apparently gotten rid of their 3-consecutive-day pass. I think I might be the only one crazy enough to go 3 days in the same week, but even I didn't do consecutive days! -
Worst Announcements for 2016?
LuminousAphid replied to Awesomefaceninja7's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed- I guess people get used to getting new rides every year and therefore come to expect it, but it really does sound silly to say you're disappointed that a certain park IS getting a new ride. I was expecting to come in and hear complaints about delayed rides or things like that, not, "this ride is not good enough, I want something BETTER!"
