  1. The Cedar Point app updated. I like the map on the app b/c it is really drawn to scale as opposed to the cartoon version. I just want to add more support for my "something bigger than a dive coaster" is coming theory. If you look at the real footprint of MF and Magnum XL. that area where the area that the cleared and some parking lot of course can hold a 500 fter
  2. Oh well... likely debunked then Anyway, I think that most of us can agree that KD is due for a coaster of some sort, even though it's still speculation at this point. The Hypersonic station is still there, but the right side of International Street and Old Virginia definitely need some 40th/41st/42nd anniversary love. Most likely for next year (reply if you'd make some tweaks to this list): 1. B&M hyper - replaces Hurler and/or Grizzly - no-brainer, great fit, B&M hyper/Intamin giga 1-2 punch, only detractor is that every other CF park has gone hyper, then giga 2. B&M invert - think Banshee, but maybe 200 ft+ - but Alpengeist is <100 miles away 3. Large flat/family ride - replaces Shockwave, skyride possibly rebuilt - ugh but likely at some point, might happen in 2017 because of 2013 Planet Snoopy expansion 4. Intamin Impulse - replaces Shockwave - a better twist (no pun intended) on #3 5. Triotech 4D dark ride/roller coaster hybrid - built into existing Volcano in space left over by Haunted River + other previous ride 6.B&M giga - replaces Hurler, Grizzly, Action Theater, Log Flume, and Halloween corn maze (CornStalkers), with remodeled International Street and queue to right of fountains (sounds ridiculous but might not be a terrible fit). KD probably wants this, but CF wouldn't be likely to approve because of Fury (and two gigas while KI has 0 wouldn't fly, either). 7. Intamin strata or other Accelerator - replaces Hurler and/or Grizzly - makes sense because Hypersonic station is still there, could be done with the space, back to Launch Capital of world, but CF probably doesn't want to take the spotlight off of TTD, so a smaller Accelerator is more likely You brought up some good options here is Kings Dominion's problem, they already have so many unique combo coasters 1. B&M hyper is safe but that is also 100 miles away like like the B&M invert and they have a pretty good unique launch inverted coaster 2. Answered above 3. Strong possibility, not a coaster but I understand 4.Is not a major coaster, there hasn't been one installed in a while and they would not have to remove shockwave 5. That Volcano space is full of beams, can't put a ride in there but a building could be built behind the volcano mountain and give the illusion that you are still in the volcano through the dark ride experience. 6. Answered in 1 7. Interesting **What about a winged coaster?
  3. With the installation of this dark ride (which isn't really for my demographic so I won't knock it) do you think that Knotts will ever get that illusive hyper coaster? It seems like the park is so cramped and tight on space that I can not see where the park can make room for any real major roller coaster. I know that seems odd give Cedar Fairs and the way the maneuver things to rides around to make room for things at Cedar Point for Knott's seems even more crowded. and landlocked. I commend Knott's for repurposing a major building and turning it to a major family attraction but what is next in 2016 and beyond? Is is possible to build a new coaster with out taking something else? I am curious. I have never been to the farm so for the people that have been there is there any room for expansion?
  4. Great trip reporter! I have never been to Knobels and I think this summer I might make that trip. With Impulse and Flying Turns is enough for a trip.
  5. Damn they are just putting the ride up.... It is a shame that damn. They are putting up a carnival ride and marketing it as a roller coaster....
  6. LOL the SUPER DUPER UBER LOOPER! Actually that would be kinda cool a 150 foot tall one, Cedar Point would do it just for the record, lol, and also call it a coaster!
  7. Keep the park going. I think it feels a little choppy but keep the storyline going. I am just reading it and I like what I see so far and I am excited to see more. Maybe you should do a restart post where you refamliarize us with the park through a BIG first person trip report where you talk about the high and lows of the park through the eyes of a peep.
  8. It is back of house stuff, move it, lol. No one will know the difference. Build a new back of house somewhere else. I am not sure what those building are but I think it moving them could justify a 1. Refreshed entry plaza 2. New front of of the park woodie that is accessed from right off of the International Street near Effiel Tower OR the entrance can be built near the action theater in Old Virginia. I'd love for it to be an Out and Back/Twister with some of the more twisted elements to be front of the park. I am picturing on side of the entrance you have the huge dominator loop and on the other side you have nice inverted dive element from a RMC woodie. It would be great. especially if the went for the record and made it like 200+ feet tall and super duper long.
  9. I have to agree with you. I have not rode Fury yet but I agree with the i305 > MF. That isn't saying much b/c MF is still a breathe taking roller coaster however I think that i305 has a better drop, cooler airtime moments and I love that close to the ground feel for the ride b/c it never really loses speed. I think it would be great if they could add a new roller coaster though. It has been some time, its time to really bring something big to the park. The Hurler is awful. It is a bumpy ride rough ride when it is open and it might be time to a RMC make over. I honestly would not mind just a tear down. Kings Dominion where it stands has an awesome line up making it tough to imagine what they need. If I was planning I would add a nice RMC woodie in the front of the park on the opposite side of Dominator. The ride interacting with the entrance thing is very in vogue right now but I think it would be cool to see Dominator on on side and a bad ass RMC woodie on the other side. flanking the entrance as you walk up to the park.
  10. Now I am curious. Does anyone know of swinging ship rides that go upside down beside the Bezerker at Kings Dominion?
  11. Well they replaced the beam rather quickly which was a smart move. JJ is one of the few reasons to go to SFA. They really need a new ride. I'd love to see a Roar RMC'ed
  12. I can only think of two both of which I don't miss 1. Two face the flipside (Six Flags America) 2. Hypersonic XLC (Kings Dominion)
  13. Hershey Park day either Memorial Day Monday or Tuesday Carowinds at the end of May Cedar Point in August Six Flags America, whenever... no rush or interest but I won free passes
  14. Idk if this one counts but the Berserker at King Dominion is the only one I've seen that goes upside down and it use to freak me out. I remember being kid and just getting over my fear of coaster but I still not getting on it. I am not sure if it going upside down disqualifies it as swinging ship ride though.
  15. I like how they are filling in the Wicked Twister Midway! Can't wait to get back to the Point!
  16. Maybe I spoke too soon. When I went to Cedar Point for the first time last summer I did the whole 'I have to ride every roller coater' thing and of all of them Gemini was the most forgettable, least exciting, and left wondering when was this ever a great roller coaster? That is my opinion and I see I am in the minority. When I made my comment about not adding anything to the park I will admit it does add the dueling coaster element but I was looking at it from a holistic approach of type of wooden roller coaster. It would great to have a 1. Twister- Mean Streak 2. Classic Out and Back woodie- Blue Streak 3. An RMC crazy hybrid. The more I think about I'd rather see a El Toro style Intamin over Gemini. I don't look at Gemini as Cedar Points way of rounding out its coaster line up with a mild family coaster. I think it was intended to be a thrilling coaster that is now settling as a family ride coaster. Again that is just my opinion, I am sure we all have our own. lol
  17. Couple of things. What ever Cedar Point is building is going to huge. It has to be. 1. Cedar Point does not build subpar major attractions. Most of their rides are thoughtful, record breakers in their respective class. A. A Dive Machine is low hanging fruit in that regard. Layman love the look of dive coaster, a dive coaster over 200 feet would break records and it is easy to break inversion and height records. I could imagine a Dive machine looking great in that spot with the first drop looking awesome. I however an thinking BIGGER. You don't start clearing things so early for a dive machine unless there is some underground element that requires some holes, sub pumps etc. I think Cedar point in Cedar Point fashion is going for something BIG, I'd be pleasantly shocked if they went to for 500ft record. The space they are clearing can handle a out and back coaster. B. RMC is coming, not yet. The safe bet is for Mean Steak it is a bumpy and would make a great RMC but what about Gemini? Why do a RMC when you get rid of Gemini altogether. It does nothing for a the park and starting RMC coaster from scratch can be pretty awesome and better than remixed coasters. Either proposition would be awesome. C. Cedar Point won't compromise its rep for what ever build- While the park is known for record breakers they are not know for "first of its kind" coasters. It looks like typically you can look across the Cedar Point family and see what coasters they have in other places to see what they are testing. That could mean a super tall B&M coaster which would be a different experience from Force based on Carowinds getting a giga and Canada's Wonderland already having one. In conclusion what ever they are building is going to world class, a record breaker, and we will love it b/c they don't seem to disappoint. In my own time going to Cedar Point I felt like it was the Manhattan of amusement park. Not because of the shape of the land but because of the high quality of rides, the creative use of space, and the diverse amount of experiences. I came for a weekend and thought It could have been a 4 day trip easily. They have earned my trust that what ever they build they will blow us away in some way. I've only been to the point once and I plan on going back this year and every year moving forward, even though for me it is either a long drive or expensive flight.
  18. My prediction is it will be either an B&M or a Intamin. It is more likely to be an B&M because they have a strong relationship with the the SeaWorld Parks. However an nice Skyrush type hyper would be nice. It would go well with the theme of being the fastest by having those sharp turns like Skyrush or I305 where it is low to the ground. I wonder would they use the winged seats like Skyrush.
  19. This name is awful. I hope these are just trying to throw us off the scent.
  20. The narrow track could mean either a winged coaster (the picture above) or It could be for Cedar Points alleged dive machine. . I saw alleged b/c I really hope that Cedar Point is clearing things so early for something a little bit more innovative than a one trick pony dive coaster. However it is interesting how similiar the two tracks piles look. At the same time Cedar Point already have enough red in their skyline. However if the coaster is going in the place they say it is where that theater once stood then it would be far from Dragster and Magnum. I am arguing with myself at this point, lol, I will stop.
  21. I wonder what are the chances of Laff Trakk being ready for Memorial Day weekend. I want to go to Hershey Park and give it a spin. I haven't been to HP since 2013. I am from Baltimore and HP feels more like my home park than Six Flags America. I just don't want to go and then it has been delayed.
  22. I think the dive machine is just to throw us off -CP is normally pretty good with keeping things tight lipped. I think that this just slipped is almost too good to be true. - I think they might want the 500ft record before that Orlando Tower thing is built. If they are going for 500 I don't think B&M will really go that large and just skip 400 ft. -B&M's go up too quick for them to be prepping for a dive coaster this quick. What ever they are doing it is going to be big!
  23. Great Looney tunes world. I think you put more thought into your looney tune world that most six flags that I've ever been though. This is the type of space that kids will love and adults won't feel corny going to in your park. Good job.
