I have never seen a roller coaster built with plastic wrap on it, Great trip report that park looks well theme and stacked with thrill rides! That Log Flume looks crazy steep! lol -

I rode it last week and it wasn't that bad however the person I was with said it was the roughest ride of his life and need to take pain medication. I am pretty tall so I might not be as bothered. I feel like Wildcat is rougher but I have not rode it in a few years. Everyone wants a RMC redo, including myself but I am starting to think it feels kinda cliché, lol -

You took the words right out of my mouth. Feed. Me. Coaster. lol After reading the forum I am think a launched B&M would be a great addition to the park, the question is what type. I wouldn't mind a launched wing coaster. Gatekeeper looks way more intense than it actually but a launch might sell me more. I am not sure what KD is doing but I like that they are feeding into the mystery with this latest video being released. Not a fan of Shockwave but I don't want to see it leave but I would not cry. -

I appreciate all of the comments and I am actually pleased with the responses from so many people coming to the defense of the park. In reflection I went to Cedar Point and Busch Gardens last summer for the first time and then Disney World/ Universal Studios this winter so maybe I was unfairly harsh to SFA given the standard of the parks I have been to recently. However I stand by what I said, MY experience at the park was not good. That is my opinion and it is clear that others disagree and think that the park is moving up the Six Flags food chain. I must admit I am somewhat unsympathetic to the general tone of the argument(s) that SFA really sucked (had one of the worst themed area's ever, has no shade, etc) and not they don't suck as much. The bar is set pretty low if adding a Superloop is seen as a win for the park b/c they have a history not having good flat rides. Additionally Wild one was fun and does run great. Saying SFGA could use some paint however does not negate that Wild one looks awful and needs to be repainted and saying look at SFGA needs paint does not negate the Wild one is in desperate, if not dire need of a paint job. My friend that I went with who is not big on roller coasters thought the ride looked unsafe and unkept. I am sure he thought it looked unsafe b/c it looked unkept. Either way I am sure he is not the only one that thinks about that when they look at the ride, not matter how well it runs. Also SGA does not have the coaster line up SFGA has to fall back on. Most of the people that disagree with me are speaking from the same perspective but different sides. I think we all want to see the park improve and get more love. If they are using a limited budget and stretching it and making it work by get refurbished coasters and making incremental improvement that is great however I think with some attention and money they can be greater. -

The back seat was different, I agree with all your points above however I think that the back seat is a different feel perspective and this is still my favorite roller coaster! -

I have not been in 2 years and I can't say that they have not be spending money. I see some things look different but it is the little things. The paint on Wild one is chipping and looks awful. They need more shaded area or at least plant more trees or something. I guess I expecting more given that they have had a few years where they have really just hand me down coasters or no big improvements so I thought they would using what ever other money they get to improve the over all feel of the park. -

We disagree and thats ok. I was excited about the Mardi Gras Section and happy to see they filled in that spot that once was were Two Face, and Python stood. I was however sweating bullets the whole time, no shade in the entire section. None of the new rides had shaded areas at all and I left feeling mildly underwhelmed but not disappointed with some of the re-themed attractions. Maybe I am holding SFA to a high standard b/c they are surrounded by some stiff competition: Hershey Park, Kings Dominion Busch Gardens and SFGA are not super far drives from Baltimore and are significantly better and the gap is growing. Now I understand that SFA might be out of some of those parks leagues however even when I went to Dorney Park for the first time a few years back I was impressed at how the park operated and left wishing that it was home park over SFA. I might be being a little harsh but after Friday I feel like I am not missing much and I am happy the tickets I used were purchased at a charity auction. However I am sure that a nice World class coaster addition for 2016 can change my mind. -

The "10th roller coaster", Burbon Street Fireball is up, SBNO, of course. It actually fit very well into the Mardi Gras area and does not look as lame as I thought. It fit well between the Voodoo Drop (Tower of Terror) and Wild One. This was my first time going to the park, which is technically my home park in two years and it it was kinda miserable. I thought I was going to do a trip report but it was actually quite a awful experience, After one cycle on the coasters open I left. I was there for about 4 hours. - There is no shade, anywhere -Superman was closed. -Most of the shops were closed -Most of the roller coasters only had one train running I feel like all the things I didn't like about about the park growing up are still issues. I don't think that park will ever get its act together, lol -

Cedar Fair has all but confirmed they are building a big thrill ride for 2016 removing Shockwave and then a B&M winged coaster that will include a park entrance refurb. They are could be trolling but not likely. lol -
I'd love to see a legit B&M airtime machine in the park coaster. Now just a thought, I know there is some talk for a 200 foot tall dive coaster at the point, what if that really is for KB? the lift hill and drop would be contact enough to work and then the rest of the elements could probable fit someone in the park.

Love the park, not really the pic quality, but the park is amazing. Looks like 5 coasters that are all pretty cool. Will the park be expanding across that street or is it land locked? -

I wish that they would give a little more love to Six Flags America. I really think it is a "if you build it they will come" type of park. It has tons of room to expand, it is in a great location between two major US markets, DC and Baltimore. It is technically my home park b/c I live in (Baltimore) but I'd rather make the trip to Hershey Park or bypass SFA and go to Kings Dominion. I still am going to SFA this year, probably this week b/c I have passes I won at an auction. Question. Has anyone been this year? If so do they have all all the coasters up and running? -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
ferk60 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think I read about that, I wonder how much land they are going to be getting in relation to the park but also how much that is going to cost b/c that might limit their expansion. Either way next year Hershey needs to add a drop tower AND or a big thrill ride, that is where they are lacking the most. -

I never thought about it that way. I do think Hershey Park has space issues which had led to some cool coaster interactions and they have a weird waterpark set up. Hershey Park is land locked. There is really not much they can do but I agree. I am impressed they installed a new coaster without removing one b/c it is so tight on space. -

Just curious about the boards thoughts. Now that Laff Trakk is installed do you think that the Wild Mouse in the boardwalk will be removed? Laff Trakk in many ways is just a wild mouse so would it be redundant to keep both? Will they keep it just for the coaster count? Will they move it for another thrill ride or water park expansion? When they first announced the ride I did not think about it but now that it is here I am thinking about it. -

I went for a weekend last year and on a Sunday and Mantis was almost a walk-on. I think we waited like 15 minute at best. We walked up to the station queue at best. I am kinda interested in how this will work. and then it makes me wonder can other coasters transformed. Is it possible to make an inverted coaster, a winged coaster or a flyer. Probably not probable but just a thought. I never understood the standup coaster but I think in a way Cedar Point should have kept the stand up coaster b/c it is a unique type of coaster. Of the stand ups that I have been on Mantis was pretty good. They got rid of the disaster transport, a bobsled and now a stand up coaster. No point in thinking about it now b/c the damage is done. -
Twisted Colossus looks just how the name described it. you are so luck to get a tour of that awesome ride. I wonder are they going to give it a paint job and make all the support structures white? I love the ending shot it reminded of the Cedar point peninsula shot with the spaghetti bowl of coasters. The pics of the little, especially the twissler made me laugh out loud. Great report. Wish I was on the west coast! I probably won't make it out there until Dec to see all this awesomeness. lol

Grizzly's entrance has definitely had a change over time since 1982. You remember the "Grizzly Plaza" when it started out like this? Such great memories! Well Looks like the only thing they kept was he font. I never remember that entrance b/c it was before I was born but gosh it looks cool! -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
ferk60 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok we can all agree It is King Dominion's time for a coaster but if Cedar Fair is adding a Triotech ride in 2016 there is a strong chance that is going to King Dominion because 1. They have a strong coaster line up 2. CP is getting a coaster, KB and CWW already have one, and Carowinds just got Fury. 3. It is also time that KD got a big marketable attraction family attraction and they are not deep on the family ride aspect. I still want them to get a coaster though. After reading the board I'd be cool with the following options that seem realistic 1. A wing rider- they don't have one, it would diversify their line up 2. A B&M hyper- I'd love something more than out and back, I'd like to see a hyper twister 3. Intamin blitz coaster - Something like Maverick at KD would great. I305 is kinda an off spring of Maverick with those close to the ground moves. Maybe a combo of Maverick and Storm Runner would be great I DON'T think or want want them to take out 1. Shockwave- its a classic, one of my first roller coaster and Isn't it the first stand up coaster ever? 2. Hurler-- this coaster sucks but I'd rather them RMC it up than tear it down. Thoughts. -

When I went the parking was fine but being on an island that can be an issue maybe they should get one of these Seems to be working for Disney and they recouped enough space to build a whole park. lol. Parking is not a issue, it can be addressed. -
It is interesting because Knott's has such a strong history and people seem to really love it but on paper I am not that impressed. I have never been but I feel like they need a B&M hyper to stand out in that crowded market. It will probably be B&M's most difficult installation since the Great Bear trying to build in very full park, they need something beyond refurbs, more flat and dark rides.
-
No they really don't. They do everything well. With that being said Tempesto does seem kinda out of character for them. Most of their coasters are well theme, exciting and unique. 2/3 is not bad. I have not rode Tempesto yet but I was shocked that they installed a clone. I think BG operates on the premise that they only build with a purpose and not just to build.
