  1. It's not that nitpicky. RCDB is supposed to be an "authority", obviously when you see wrong info you'd expect them to eventually correct it. What's the point of having the site if the info on it is going to be wrong?
  2. Looks like a perfectly decent addition, and I'm not sure how much more they could do considering their space limitations. But considering Knoebels can afford a steel coaster with an original layout, and I'm a *little* disappointed the same isn't true for Lake Compounce. Just a little. Still looks like a very worthwhile addition.
  3. When I saw the video I was convinced it had to be fake. This is crazy, it's like one of those accidents you'd see in Roller Coaster Tycoon where the the merry-go-round is spinning out of control.
  4. A premier terrain launcher that goes up into the woods like Boulder Dash (but far enough away that you can't see it when riding BD, so both rides are isolated). How awesome would that be?
  5. You just have to ride one and you'll know exactly what he means. I've had the privilege of riding three, Boulder Dash and the two at Holiday World, and they are all insane. The risk comes from the level of intensity. Sharp transitions, sustained speed through the entire course, airtime, and laterals. CCI had a thing for underbanked turns. Check out the second half of Legend's helix, it isn't banked at all. The combination of these elements make for totally out of control rides that also, sadly, beat themselves to pieces. Riding one can feel a bit like having a fire hydrant aimed at your face.
  6. Has the park been consistently not that busy on weekdays in July? Like, for instance, if I wanted to go Tuesday or Wednesday next week, what should I expect?
  7. If you've already been to SFGAdv, why not give SFA a try? You're on this site so I assume you know what to expect. The ops aren't great and the park isn't pretty (although supposedly these things have been improving). But if it's got rides you want to try then go for it. A day in DC has a lot to offer as well. SFGAdv isn't going anywhere. Batwing was my favorite ride there. I'm not a fan of Superman ROS because of the big boring stretch in the middle with the helices, but others really enjoy it particularly for the airtime. Joker's Jynx sucks, it goes so slow at the top it's valleyed there in the past. The only ride that can beat the equivalent ride at SFGAdv is Batwing. But I'd say it's still worth a visit. Just keep in mind (since you made the comparison), SFA isn't even in the same league as Dorney in terms of landscaping, charm, and atmosphere. I'd bet a whole pile of money you won't like it as well as Dorney.
  8. I honestly enjoy strong laterals basically as much as I enjoy airtime. It feels out of control and like the train is going to be ripped from the tracks. The helix on the Legend is great but the real special moments are the three crazy turns that follow it. It's disappointing to me that people have such a strong preference for vertical Gs and the only manufacturers who will give you both is GCI and TGG. It's like a painter deciding to only paint in warm colors.
  9. I am REALLY REALLY hoping they keep it a true dueling coaster instead of removing a gigantic portion of the footprint and connecting the two halves together like TC. I'd also want them to keep some laterals in there but this being RMC I'm not getting my hopes up about that (and I mean real, underbanked turn laterals, not rotational force laterals from twisting track).
  10. I'm very disappointed that word doesn't mean fear of tacos.
  11. Goliath at SFGAm is my absolute favorite piece of roller coaster architecture, nothing else comes close. It's the perfect marriage of form and function, of retroism and futurism. To me it's the Bradbury Building of coasters. By the way: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=177955#p177955
  12. If the trains succeed in eliminating headbanging, I'd be pretty excited to ride it. I would take this over, for instance, any B&M floorless. The layouts on SLCs are actually pretty intense.
  13. The Legend, on its final three turns, particularly the first of the three, pulls the strongest laterals of any ride I've ever been on.
  14. Hey speaking of growing pains, what's up with the men's bathrooms at Holiday World? Every single one didn't have enough stalls. And I mean every single one (at least that I used). I don't remember if it was that they all had one or two but regardless it wasn't enough. This is a huge problem for the pee-shy among us.
  15. I'm hoping they're replacing their dark ride with something actually scary. I thought the facade was way too cool for what's inside.
  16. Skyrush was running really well last night. The last airtime hill is still insane. Fahrenheit, on the other hand, continues its slow decent into rattly oblivion. My first ride in the back row was terrible, rattling like crazy through the entire course. Remember how bad the exit of the cobra roll was last year? That's how bad it was the entire ride. Those trains need to be rehabbed STAT.
  17. For those who are still complaining/Unsure of the Dive Machine concept. (From the BGW Thread.) Sorry, I keep reading "these rides are intense and forceful" over and over again, I think something in my brain broke. I hope everyone is aware the airtime you feel on the first drop is plain old weightlessness, which is in fact lack of force. SheiKra and Griffon both pull 4G's... that's not really a lack of force. That's actually a decent amount of g-force. And we know Cedar Point wouldn't build anything less than what those two do. Any coaster with a decent drop will pull a decent amount of Gs at the bottom, but what contributes to a feeling of "forcefulness" is how frequently high G force is felt, how long it's sustained, and how suddenly it comes on/transitions into a different kind of force. I don't think anybody could honestly describe the current US dive coasters as being particularly "forceful", relative to other big loopers. Now, what B&M COULD do is put some inversions like the zero G on Thunderbird, where the riders on the far left and right (the "wing seats") feel that weird tug to the side. That would be great! Here's hoping.
  18. I'm hoping for another launch coaster like Wicked. I REALLY wanna ride one of those.

  20. Personally I don't really understand when people say they like Raven but not Legend or Voyage, since I really don't think the ride experience is that different. It's still intense, fast, with a lot of laterals and (at least this year) fairly rough. Is it just because it doesn't last as long?
  21. Is there only one backwards Batman train? I was kind of hoping they'd run one forwards and one backwards, but I guess people would clog up the line waiting for the backwards one.
  22. I was at the park last Thursday, and we were at Laff Trakk within 10 minutes of opening and we waited around half an hour, and by the time we got off the queue was full, which means a 60-90 minute wait. But after that we ran straight to Fahrenheit and it was a walk-on. Thanks for the info. I've decided we're definitely heading straight to LT first.
  23. You know, sometimes when I'm thinking about Batman backwards I'm like "I really want to try that!". Then other times I'm like, "Gee, that sounds fun, but I think I'd rather stick my hand in this food processor". I'm really not sure.
