Steel Force was HAULING tonight, I got some fantastic rides on it. One of the most underrated rides anywhere. I think the rain might have helped, but when it's running like it was tonight, I honestly have a hard time saying whether I like it or Nitro more. The airtime is comparable, but on SF you aren't stapled so you can actually come up out of your seat (which was happening often). Also, the second half of the helix gives a fantastic sensation of speed. Also, the double up. I don't know, I really think I might like it more than Nitro. But I know quite well it doesn't always run that well, Nitro is probably more consistent.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

There are lots of intense rides in the United States that people enjoy, and nobody is complaining that Skyrush is too intense, everybody is complaining about the poorly designed lap bar. God, this discussion has been had and had and had over and over ever since the ride opened. It will never end. -

I think you've forgotten how many people on this thread complain about B&Ms. I'm not the biggest B&M fam myself, but I have to give credit where it's due. I honestly think this layout looks pretty sweet. Possibly better than Millennium Force. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread

Um ok, I'm sure Fury 325 will just make all those people Japan be like "screw Nagashima, let's go to Carowinds and ride a coaster that isn't as good!" Now there's an interesting statement. Personally from off-ride I'd say Fury's layout looks much more advanced and exciting than Steel Dragon's. SD has a lot of long, drawn-out sections where not much seems to be happening. -
Ok, explain why. I totally get that you would prefer something that actually exists to something that doesn't exist. But can you imagine how many conversations on this board could be stopped dead by saying the same thing? "Wouldn't Kingda Ka be a better ride if there was more to the layout after the tophat? "No, because that ride doesn't exist, and Kingda Ka does!" "Wouldn't Maverick be a better ride if it had different restraints?" "No, because it has the restraints it has!" It doesn't even make any sense. What I'm proposing could easily have happened if Six Flags wasn't a bunch of cheap skates, and IMO would have been a better ride. If you disagree, fine, but try to actually have a reason for it is all I'm saying.

Oh so you mean Twisted Colossus will get the eventual Six Flags treatment? Aka run both sides opening season, then never run together again after a year and a half with one side sitting dormant for large amounts of time? Twisted Colossus is a single track coaster now. A möbius loop. They can't close once side of it because the train has to complete both circuits before it returns to the station. None of the three existing mobius coasters need to complete both circuits before returning to the station. The one in Mexico frequently runs only one train. This ride isn't like the other mobius coasters, the train doesn't reenter the station after completing one side. It goes straight into the other side. I don't even think we should be calling it a mobius coaster because it's kind of deceptive and confusing, it's really just one ride with two very similar halves. So no, they can't close one side. However I do see them going down to one or two trains frequently, and if there's only two trains then at the most you could get 1/2 a ride dueling. People are absolutely allowed to be excited, again, I'm just stating my opinion. But I don't really understand the reasoning going on here. Wouldn't you prefer one continuous ride, that was approximately 4000 feet long, that did all that incredible dueling stuff, but didn't have a lift hill in the middle and wasn't essentially the same ride twice? That's what the ride could have been if they'd kept it as two separate tracks and used all of the existing structure. I know that's sure as heck what I'd prefer, but for some reason everybody is acting like what they're actually getting is preferable.

So I guess the point of the 200 degree stall is that you actually rotate past being upside down, to being slightly tilted in the other direction, before whipping back around. I'm guessing that'll be the one big stand-out element on this ride. It looks like it's placed for maximum visibility from the midway, I wonder if there's going to be any surprises this time around with the support structure for that element like there was for the stall on Goliath.

Sorry but I think the west coast folks got pretty shortchanged. No other RMC remake has had such a drastic shrinking of the original footprint, practically half the layout has just been lopped off. Twisted Colossus could have been epic, the best racing coaster ever made, but instead it's like it got shrunk in the wash. You're left with a very cool, but very, very short racing coaster, and the only justification is you get to do both sides without getting off. So you get thirty seconds of ride (that just goes in a circle, I might add), then a second lift hill, then another thirty second variation of what you just experienced. Sorry but if there's one thing I hate, it's pace-killing mid-run lift hills. Beast gets away with it because it's buried in the woods, it takes you on a massive journey and you have no idea what to expect (at least your first time). Not the case here. I would take any of the other RMC remakes over this, Wicked Cyclone included.

Ok, I've been going over in my head how this whole dueling thing is going to work, and here's my thoughts. Maybe someone who knows more about coasters can help me out with this. 1. Three trains HAVE to be running for it to work. If one train is taken off for maintenance or cost-cutting measures, boom, no dueling. (This one's obvious, train 1 loads while trains 2 and 3 are dueling. If you've only got two trains, then train 1 will be loading when it's supposed to be dueling with train 2.) 2. As long as only one train is allowed in the station at a time, then train 1 must be loaded/unloaded by the time train 2 has finished the first half of the ride (dueling with train 3 as it does so). This would require a LOT of precision. They can slow the second lift down, but only by so much. The nice thing is, if this actually happens, then the ride will never ever stack, because by the time train 3 makes it to the break run train 1 will already be rolling out of the station to duel with train 2. 3. I take back what I said earlier, if train 1 misses its interval and you end up with one non-dueling cycle, it will be easy to correct it and get the ride dueling again, because train 3 will be already be waiting on the break run to get loaded/unloaded by the time it takes train 1 to get to the second lift. Trains 1 and 2 will both only have 1/2 of the ride non-dueling. So, in Theoretical Land where the ride ops are always on their game, and three trains are always running, this could actually work out quite nicely. I'll leave it up to you to decide how often you think this will actually happen in reality. In any case, you certainly won't end up with a Lightning Racer situation where the ride always always duels no matter what.

All it takes is one person too big to ride and throwing a fit, or one disabled person taking a little longer to board, or one person who wants to get off after restraints have been locked and checked, to completely mess up the timing. They can't dispatch the train if it isn't ready, and like I said, they're not going to make the other train sit and wait on the lift hill. I don't see how this ride could consistently duel even at a properly run park. I don't believe any other coaster has ever been built this way (am I wrong?), and there's probably a reason for it.

This is the whole thing with SFGAdv in a nutshell. It's hard to have faith because every decision they've made since Toro has indicated a clear lack of overall vision and direction for the park. And possibly a lack of budget to really fix the things that need to get done. This year it looks like they said to themselves, "Well, corporate is giving us this new ride, and it has to go somewhere. Let's see... Oh yeah, we've got that nice cleared land by El Toro, let's stick it in there." I'll try to have faith that maybe they'll use this opportunity to open that side of the park back up... but like I said, it's tough to have faith given their recent history.

I don't know that TC is really going to feel that long, honestly. The two halves by themselves will probably feel pretty short, and then you get another lift hill thrown in the middle. It might end up feeling like you're just riding the same ride twice. Regardless, I'd personally take one continuous ride with non-stop action over a ride with 2 lifts any day of the week.

This looks like one of the world's best racing coasters, if only it was a racing coaster. Don't get me wrong, it looks awesome, and everybody should absolutely be excited. My only thought is that it looks like about thirty seconds of ride, followed by a lift hill, followed by another thirty seconds of ride. If it actually races, then it should be amazing. But it'll only take one delayed dispatch to completely throw off the timing - they're not going to have one train sit and wait on the second lift while the other is still loading. Then they'd have to modify the lift speed to gradually bring the ride back into synchronization, and that's not something I see SFMM doing. If it doesn't race, which I suspect it won't, then you'll just end up with a very strangely paced ride, where half your time is spent on the lift hill. IMO they should've just knocked down the second lift and made it a standard double out-and-back design, with the second lap build very low to the ground. Those are my thoughts as a wanna-be designer coaster nerd. Feel free to ignore them. Looks awesome, west coast people have every reason to be stoked.

LOL Yeah looking at where RT's final turn was (re: Ryan's post) on Google maps, it's pretty obvious where this is going and how it'll be connected to where the Golden Kingdom already is. I'm putting a lot of money on them not fixing any infrastructure problems this year, AGAIN. I sincerely doubt they're building a new path from there to Plaza Del Carnival, alongside the old one, keeping the old one abandoned. It would have to be pretty long, that doesn't make any sense. They're not in the habit of fixing things at this park. Until I see proof, I'll assume this will just be one more attraction serviced by that dreadful bottle neck near the top spin.

If this gets us a smarter way to get from Toro to Ka, then I'm all for it honestly. I don't know why people care so much that they're calling it a coaster. It doesn't change anything about the ride itself, it's their park, they can call it whatever they want. CP called their Disk O a new coaster, that's even more ridiculous than this IMO. Of course, there's a lot of rides I would rather they have picked, and the new path is not guaranteed yet. But my expectations for this park are pretty low. Like really low. So I'm keeping positive for now. I love how much shrubbery and greenery there is in the rendering, hopefully that's not just an "artistic interpretation" and that's actually close to what it'll look like, sure will be a lot prettier than a pile of rotting white wood.

Pardon my language but... HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT I'M SO FREAKING EXCITED After all this time of just watching all the different RMC coasters, wanting so badly to ride one, now one is finally coming to a park near me. I knew it was coming, but now seeing the layout and knowing it's real, I'm like seriously bugging out. I love the mix of airtime and inversions (especially the stall, looks a lot like that one sort-of-upside-down spot on Outlaw Run). And like I said before, I found this park to be very pleasant this year, I had no big complaints with the park itself at all. I look forward to being their costumer again. I guess it really is true, no matter how awesome the announcement, somebody will complain. I never believed this up until now. But I mean... jeeziz.

What this guy said. I don't understand the sudden outpouring of love for this coaster. Yeah, in its original form I'm sure it was great. After it got butchered with the new first drop the thing moved slower than molasses in winter. I had more faith in Anaconda at Walygator making it through the course - [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] What's not to understand? Certain people loved it in its original form. If you never rode it in its original form, then of course you wouldn't feel the same way. Obviously you're not going to "get it". The love is for how it rode when it opened, not when it closed. So why bother commenting when you have nothing relevant to say?
