  1. I guess I already have 2 entries in, I went on 10/16 and supposedly the contest started on 10/10/05 (prior to my knowledge of this contest). Maybe I'll head up there this Sunday! I never get sick of that place!
  2. Try to do the front row whenever possible and is my preference. Sheikra in the front is an unsurpassed experience. The back sucked, plus U get wet. I love them tears running down my face after I get off a coaster ridin' on the FRONT ROW
  3. I agree with you on the Skool....it was really lame! And definitely the LAMEST in the whole park! IMO, The Terror Mines was the best & most innovative house at HHN. If you or the person in front of you (in MY case, my wife) is wearing the helmet, its an impressive experience.
  4. Don't worry about Drunks at Zoo Boo, if I recall correctly, they do sell alcohol, but since its the ads appeal to mostly "family", your not gonna see even close the amount of drunks you see at HHN or HOS. between last year & this year, I've seen 0 drunks!
  5. Gravy review, Phobia sounds like less entertainment than Lowry Park Zoo's Zoo Boo. The difference there is all the scare actors at Zoo Boo are actually volunteers. Those guys at Phobia wearing a mask purchased at Spirit with overalls are getting PAID! I'll pass on Phobia this year.
  6. I honestly do not remember mine, but I wanted to announce my 4-year old son just did his at Busch Gardens Tampa just yesterday (10/10...Columbus Day) on the Scorpion. He just reached the 42" mark and the boy braved it! He's the shiznit! I'm sure he has me beat because I do believe I was a double-digit age when I did my 1st inversion coaster.
  7. Dude, I just read the review & from what I've seen & read, I'm NOT going to Phobia! Geez alot of those masks & props in the pics I've seen at plenty of Spirit stores in my area. Its sad they did such a "ghetto-fabulous" job. I as really looking forward to 3 major Halloween events a year (4 if I include Zoo Boo). For shame!
  8. good advice, it also makes things worse if you suffer from any sort of motion sickness/dizziness after riding these kind of rides if you have your eyes closed. that was always my problem when I was a pre-teen to late teens. I would get motion sickness. I'd love the ride, but promptly barf afterward. I know this'll sound weird, but I eventually grew an immunity to the spins & girations (though u still can't get me on a Gravitron at the fair....blech). Suck it up & ride! (*in best Rob Schneider impersonation*) "You can Do iiiit!"
  9. can you give us a review of each of the houses? I'm curious myself & was trying to make this a "must", but its been downgraded to a "maybe I'll pass".
  10. i went to Lowry Park's Zoo Boo this year, it was great! I went ona dead-ish night (no pun intended) which was the sneak preview night on 9/24. 6 haunted houses...2 which are VERY kiddie, but still set up real nice. here's the site: http://www.lowryparkzoo.com/zooboo/index.html 3 of the 6 houses are pretty darn long to get through too. I urge you to dress cool that night since most of the houses are these wooden shacks that really trap the heat throughout the day & it can feel like an oven in there. Factory of the Living Dead is the best one, Cemetary and Curse of the Mine are also on par with anything Howl-O-Scream has done (and I've gone to HOS for the last 3 years, so I know from experience). Don't expect a whole lotta scare actors though...but they more than make up for it with their robotic props which have sensors for the passer bys, they got me a handful of times. For a pretty cheap $14 you could do a lot worse. I've wanted to check out Phobia, but after everything I've been hearing, I dunno....did someone on this site review the houses & such? I'd like to see a link if possible.
  11. One of the reasons I'm NOT going this year is because it really looks like the same 'ol s***! Most of the houses are recycled (some with slightly different names 'n' whatnot). As an Gold AP holder, I coulda got in for $20 & some change on Thursdays, but STILL don't feel its worth it. I hope BGT changes it up next year. They need a shake up like Universal did with HHN when it started getting lame. And Fiends is a great show. Those nurses are H-H-H-HOT! I know the guy that plays the disco dancing Dracula. he's done it for the last 3 years.
  12. Some of you guys are outrageous! 39 times on ANY ride is a OVERKILL! I did Kumba at Busch Gardens Tampa 8 times in a row. it was a Fall Sunday afternoon & hardly anyone was riding! I slept like a baby that night from being worn out by the back-to-back coaster rides. Also did Sheikra 3 times in a row within about a 15-20 minutes period. Considering its a newer coaster at BGT, that's quite a lot since the line is usually long.
  13. or another word for rooster just for calling you names!
  14. Err, what? Well, they're totally seperate sentences man. The guy IS from my way in Tampa...making us Tampanians look bad. The "superiority" complex is when grown man think they're too "mature" to be around costumed kiddie characters. Come on, we've all seen them. He's just "too cool" to be around some clown in a toon suit. Made a little more sense now? Maybe?
  15. Damn, for real?!?! I haven't gotten any flyer yet! S**t like this makes it harder & harder for me NOT to attend HHN this year...ARGH!!! Shocking news on the Jaws ride, I rode it mid August & my daughter (who is one) loved all the water & fire effects. Too bad its "inactive" for such long periods of time. Hopefully that doesn't mean their planning on eventually getting rid of it. As for the CD. I got THREE of them when I went just this last weekend...and wouldn't ya know it haven't even so much as OPENED one yet. I picked one up on my way out of Universal & made the mistake of leaving it on when I rode the Jurassic Park ride & One Fish, Two Fish...so one of them got pretty wet.
  16. Man, the assualter is from around my way (Tampa). Maybe it gave him a sense of superiority? I was at the Barney show this Saturday with my 4-year old & 1-year old & there was a guy on the audience that was just starin' at me having a ball with my kids. And when it came down to the photo op, it looked like if Barney made a sudden move he was ready to slug him. Some people, I tell ya. There was a case about a decade ago now where some kids from King High School in Tampa assualted Mickey & threw him in the lake on GRAD NIGHT. Because of it, King H.S. was punished for several years, being the last one to disboard the Busses on the way to Grad Night & some other punishments I don't recall. You'd think we're a bunch of savages in Tampa or something
  17. I'm surprised no one mentioned this yet, but its gotta be the Pteranadon Flyers at Islands Of Adventures. Stingy a$$ ride with really no thrillage whatsoever, short as hell, line is always LONG as hell, and is in a park with rides 20x better than it. 'nuff said.
  18. I plan to attend Howl-O-Scream this year...but it'll likely be on a Thursday (as an AP, they gotta pretty good deal at $19.95 a piece for 4). Still haven't decided on the whole Phobia thing. If I do go, it'll be early October as I'm going to be in NYC from 10/22 to the day before Halloween.
  19. Hmm...I just posted on ioacentral.com about Kissimmee attraction closings & was wondering if this was still open. I see it is....but not for much longer. I only been there once, and it was on a date with my now wife. So it was a good memory. I don't remember it being "ghetto" at all, but damn, that was about 8-9 years ago now, so things change as they often do in Kissimmee. Kinda sad what's going on on 192.
  20. Most of you have me beat by a MILE! My most was at Busch Gardens Tampa...8 times in a row on Kumba. It was me, the wife, my cousin & her husband. My cousin & her hubby bowed out after about the 4th time...but I just kept it going. When we docked there were times when no one was waiting on the row we were on & the operator just let us stay sitting....no questions asked (I loved that feeling)! I don't know how most of you manage double digit times on riding a coaster in ONE day! You guys most know the slow days like the back of your hand! But going back to the 8 Kumba rides, I slept like a baby that night!!!
  21. M'kay, I was just checking out the HHN site and AP people, correct me if I'm wrong, but are the Off-Peak night rates CHEAPER than they were last year for AP holders?!?!? I swear to gosh I don't remember paying $24.75 for my 1 day visit on a Thursday last year. As stated earlier in this thread, I paid about $55 last year WITH my AP discount AND the Express pass (which if I recall, was about $20). This is a heckuva deal for AP holders on an off-peak night!
  22. That is awesome!!! Hulk is one of my personal Favorites & always will be, what a privilege. Now U mentioned the park had a "lack of crowds". Has the summer crowds truly waned?!?! Its a bit early for the parks, especially IOA, to be emptier. I'm surprised. I think it might be time to renew my AP & visit my fav park! Another thing...is what the operators did safe? Can pushing it another 4-5 MPH not mess up anything?
  23. That's the only problem I have with this! People act stupid, try to be brave & swing on someone who's there DOIN' WHAT YOU PAID FOR THEM TO DO WITH YOUR ADMISSION TICKET! I got a slightly bad temper so I might have kick someone's a$$ if they hit me in the face or something...and that wouldn't be cool. According to the BG site, the auditions are pretty much EVERY Friday evening & Saturday afternoon in August! But they recommend to audition early! Hmmm...I wish I had someone else to do it with me!
  24. I thought it was related. but a different subject than the "Halloween Events" thread. Anyone planning on temporary working for one of the parks this Halloween? I am TRULY contemplating working at Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream, the auditions start this Friday (8/5) & run throughout the month. It seems like fun cause I love scarin' me some people! My only fear is, some mofo might get a little defensive & try to deck me (people are chicken s**t like that). Anyone have any stories of past experiences?
  25. I tend to do anything "Halloween" I can. I'm in the middle of it all (Tampa, FL) so I make it a MUST to attend Universal's Halloween Horror Nights and Busch Gardens Howl-O-Scream every year (I've been to HHN every year since HHN III) But I gotta give a shout to those who might be in the Tampa Bay area around October there'a an event I gotta recommend at Lowry Park Zoo called Zoo Boo. I went for the 1st time last year & brought my 2 kids (1 is 4 yrs old, the other was about 3 months at the time). The ads make it look like a kiddie event...but I gotta tell ya some of the houses in that place would put HHN & HOS to SHAME!!! I had to carry my poor son through most of the houses...no joke! And its only about $11 for an adult...so it won't put a hole in your pocket the way the other events might! I tell ya, the props used were awesome. They even had these giant moving robot things that were quite impressive. Skull Kingdom in Orlando/I-drive is a good visit, though I think its a tad overpriced for what it is. Great photo ops from the front of the place though. I'm curious to know what Cypress Garden's Phobia is gonna be about. Yet another FL Halloween event is always welcome with open arms.
