  1. Had to read the article and "see it to believe it". I thought the robbery/abduction took place INSIDE one of the parks...I was like "say what?!?!" I walk around downtown Disney quite a bit and there are some suspicious looking characters walking about that place once the sun goes down. It was midnight and in the parking lot. Right at midnight, the parking lot is a ghost town of cars. Not that there is an excuse for this type of thing to happen, but people (myself included) usually head out of there BEFORE 10pm (if they're only shopping/looking around) or AFTER 2am (which is when Pleasure Island's clubs close). I truly hope there are very few instances of things like this happening.
  2. I'm only here once in a while, how did U get the VIP invite? It looks awesome, I'd like to renew my annual pass 1st (Universal is currently doing their "Buy 1 Year, Get 1 Free offer"!!!) THEN get me a discount for tickets to this show. The sweetest part is the open bar & deserts...gee wiz!! As for the alcohol, if it was open bar, I'm sure the amount of alcohol in those blue martinis were merely drops.
  3. That's us...I've done this myself. Usually its not because I'm trying to be an "a$$", either my son (who is 6) has to go to the bathroom, my daughter needs a daiper change or an emergency drink of water is needed to prevent dehydration (U know how humid Florida can be). Take care of business BEFORE getting on line!?!? Why would I wanna do that? That cuts valuable que line wait time! U guys are too nitpicky!
  4. Holy crud! So me & my family have been "line jumping" forever then! I can't believe most of you would get mad if my ENTIRE party goes on line, 2 or 3 step out to use the CAN, come right back in to join us & can label us "line jumpers"! I think that's a CROC of shiznit! U guys are TOO friggin' sensitive! Most of U go to Halloween Horror Nights don't ya? EVERYONE line jumps at that place by U guys' definition (75% of the crowd is DRINKING for crying out loud!) My brother-in-law is a big beer drinker & he will do this 1 out of every 3 que lines we get on (step away to get a beer). I'll probably open a can of sardines with this one, but I am LATIN afterall! I reiterate, we don't "bully" our way to the front, its more of a "most of us are holding your spot on line" thing...geez guys, take a chill. If we're near the front we DO NOT hold up the line for our party, and we also do NOT let other people we know who happen to be in the back of the line to join us. There's a difference between what we do above & what inconsiderate people do to skip the line just for the sake of shaving off 15 or 30 minutes or so!!! Gimme a break!
  5. I've got a $0.02 to add me-self! I sometimes go to theme parks (mainly in Florida..duh) with a large group which usually consists of family. There are MANY, MANY times we fit this so called "line jumping" definition, but I honestly don't think we're taking advantage of anything. My "line jumping" situations usually go like this...a group of 10 of us enter the que together..SOMEBODY (it never fails) has to.. A. Take a pee. B. Take a s*** C. Get a drink (usually water or soda, but on some occasions a BEER). Usually the party in back of us sees us enter all together, so its no big deal when the part of our party that left the que re-joins us. I usually show the same courtesy. I see kids join their parents in line (who sometimes happen to be right in front of me) after 30 minutes or so. I guess its something I'm just used to. Now of course, there are ALWAYS some fool who is NOT joining a party & just feels they somehow DESERVE to ride before anyone. U can usually tell who these b*stards are (especially if they're near the front of the line with no obivious party in site). I don't stand for that & have been known to really call people out. Getting into shouting matches...hmmm...I have a 6-year old now, I can't set that kind of example. The last shouting match I had was with the Express Universal CM at E.T. who had the nerve to tell me my express ticket had expired 2 minutes ago (we were delayed in the Spielburg intro part of the que..the doors malfunctioned).
  6. I've been going to HHN for 13 years straight (& counting), in that time, its gone a bit "down hill" in that its not as "scary" as it once was. What used to be almost adult exclusive has turned into the most crowded night you can EVER be at Universal with a lot of immature kids. Still, over the last 2-3 years (particularly since leaving behind Island os Adventure), they've improved MUCH. Still HOS at BG is a class act. Groovy sets, scare actors who care to scare and nights where U & your party can literally walk the scare zones ALONE! Maybe I'm a bit biased since I also worked for them last year.
  7. What made U eligible to get one? I WAS a AP holder for about 5 years running up until early last year! I still get their mailer (promoting stuff going on at USF), but nothing recent!
  8. I am REALLY jealous of U guys. I haven't had my Universal pass in about the same time frame (almost 2 years) and I MISS IT SO BAD! Plus the fact that you guys went on a DEAD day! I used to love taking a day off from work, packing up my son & heading to Universal on an off day like Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday! Awesome!!!!! Looks like U had a lot of fun! If there was only a 10 minute wait on Spider-man, it was DEFINITELY a dead day!
  9. I wish I still had my annual pass so I can truly ride this baby one last time. I rode it sometime last year (before my passes expired) not knowing it would've been the last time! I think I found out shortly afterward it was closing. My son loves the movies and loves this ride too...sad to see it go!
  10. I went on a Disney Cruise in 2003 (my son was 2 years old at the time). What a fantastic experience. I got a discount through my job, so I recall paying less than $1000K for the whole family for about a 5-day cruise. I went on a Carnival Cruise just this January...no comparison! The Disney Cruise STILL leaves an impression on us and we talk about it to this day. I'll suggest to those thinking about it, it IS manily geared for families. Wouldn't recomennd it if you're trying to "get away" and "relax" or much less "get jiggy" as kids are everywhere U turn compared to most other cruise lines. Ya gotta try it. A very high recommend!
  11. I fel so bad for the Tigger actor! Its obvious he didn't just DECIDE to b*tch slap this kid! He was most definitely induced to do so. I just saw another video (just a crack more complete) and U can see Tigger kinda give him a gentle tap later. F**kers just want $$$!
  12. This is dissaponiting news. I'm a big fan of the BTTF movies and have made my son one also (he loves this ride). I'm sad to see it go, but yeah, the movies are getting old and a bit forgettable by younger movie goers (a shame really). But a Simpsons ride?!?! Not all of us are Simpson fans you know. How I wish it would be something else. Preferably movie themed. As someone already mentioned, they already have an animated simulator ride (Nicktoon Blast) and a 4D attraction (Shrek 4D). I'd go as basic as a simulator based on ANOTHER movie theme (kinda like how Hanna Barberra turned into Nicktoon Blast, just a couple of changes here & there). That wuold work for me. Or if not pull a Mummy and build an indoor coaster in the building. I guess only time will tell.
  13. OMG, that one was nasty! I think I would've DIED if that was my son!
  14. I'm going through some rough times at home and needed to distract myself with activities and decided on a whim to go to an audition at BGT for Howl-O-Scream (Aug 4th). Turns out I got the job, I must not have been ALL that "scary" cause I got placed in the 3D house (a 2 skull house if I recall). I asked them to put me in one of the cool darker ones, but based on my audition, that is where I had to be...I took it! I've gone to HHN for 13 years straight and have been to HOS every year except the 1st year & last year...now I finally get to be PART of it! I get "measured" today. Here's hopnig for a good time scaring people and maybe a little weight loss in the process (a guy that did it last year said he shed like 20 lbs throughout October).
  15. Ha, another subject I have a bit of experience with. I stayed at the Days Inn directly across the street (where Mystery Fun House used to be) and one night we decided to walk to City Walk...worst mistake ever! The trek to City Walk took a lot longer than expected (A LOT longer) and by the time we did get to City Walk, we were pretty darn sweaty (kinda takes out the festive mood a bit). To make matters worse my wife forgot her ID + she looks like a high school chick so we couldn't hit any of the decent clubs...a failure of a night. I'm gonna be staying for 2 days next week about a mile from Universal at a Comfort Inn (I believe its offically called Comfort Inn Uniersal Studios) its slightly off International so its A LOT cheaper. If U just need a place to lay your head (like I do) check this place out or others slightly around it. I know there's a Motel 6 really close to the Universal entrance...but I dunno if that's TOO ghetto 4 ya.
  16. I believe the Orlando schools are on some kind of "fall break" (they get 2 breaks?!?!?!) so when the official HHN site goes up, check the calendar, whichever middle week of October has the most dates should probably be considered a "peak week" as far as crowds are conserned. Columbus Day is no exception...its pretty full (did it once). I've gone every year since HHN III (this'll be my 14th year lord willing I attend) and I went slowly from going Saturdays, to going during the week (either Sunday or a Wednesday if available), to going during the week WITH AN EXPRESS PASS!!! Right now, its the only way I'd go! Last year I did 4 of the 7 houses twice, including the one at Poseidon's Fury (I forget the name), which was one of THEE coolest last year! Now what's all this talk of Disney/MGM considering a Halloween event?
  17. I doubt Kong is gonna happen. The new movie's popularity was far less than expected with audiences. It was 3rd in the box office this weekend (behind a $4 million dollar HORROR movie no less), so I think that's dead in the water. Universal hasn't made any big dents at the movie box office this year & they definitely need one. A solid hit actiony/sci-fi movie could make a solid ride.
  18. That was TOO funny! I needed that good laugh this morning. it woiuld've been cool had U mentioned something on the ride, such as "as we approached the six gunend Alien". Funny s**t!!!
  19. Funny, I rode the JP Adventure a few weeks back and the Stegosaurus was covered by a big tarp...yet U can still hear him. It was my 4-year old son's 1st time riding so it kinda bummed me out since he swears he'll never ride it again (yet he'll do Scorpion at BGT over & over).
  20. I am a Busch parks and a Universal Florida Premium pass holder and I wouldn't have it any other way. When I go to the parks, the only expense I wanna worry about is gas! The fact that most FL parks have a $9 parking fee PLUS I go more than 10 times during a given year, it only makes since to get the premium goodies! $9 x 10 is $90 dollars, which would EASILY put me at the premium rate anyway.
  21. Sorry Barry, but I think your overreacting a little. True, the guy shouldn't have said what he said, but you took it too much to heart. I'm betting he didn't mean it the way it sounded (if he had left out the "pathetic", would you have been as mad?) I think he caught you on an overly sensitive day. From the way your describing your visit with the Grinch, I think U were a little hurt by his verbal abuse too, though U knew it was coming. I'm also a preferred APH and there's no way in hell I'm cutting this bad boy up...that's good money I paid for this thing & I'm betting Universal knows it too. Kinda off subject, but how the hell did U manage to ride Jaws and MIB alone!?!?! Was there no wait at all?!? Hard to imagine since I was at Seaworld this same day (12/29) and it was a MADHOUSE with hour waits on both Kraken and Journey To Atlantis!!! Crap, even the Shark Encounter had a wait going OUTSIDE the building!
  22. I gotta tell ya, those concerts have people coming back for more! They bring some pretty popular acts, and the age groups vary for those concert (from 60's oldies to >gasp< Ashlee Simpson). And attendance is attendance regardless if they're pass holders. They gotta eat, and drink and other such things. We'll see if CG is in it for the long haul!
  23. Got a weak spot for the E.T. ride at USF. the theming on the que is cool, dark & mood setting. Plus John Williams' score playing while your waiting doesn't hurt!
  24. Tampa, FL here. Busch Gardens & Adventure Island (water park) about a long stone throw away for me.
