Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream 2007
freestylenut replied to freestylenut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Being that I worked there last year, I'd say if U've never been, you'll DEFINITELY enjoy yourself. All the coasters and rides are open & if U go on an off-peak night, U can easily re-do ALL SIX houses, no problem. No HHN while you're in Florida?!?! I'm trying my best NOT to miss it. The GREAT thing about HOS is its nowhere near as CROWDED as HHN gets. Less crowds + equal amount of scarers to HHN = a FRIGHTENING good time! -
2 nights is NOT a bad idea! Especially if you're going on your first night ona PEAK night! The place is FULL-ISIMO! I've made it a habit to not only go on a non-peak night (thursday or sunday) but to get the express passes as well. Last year I got to see 3 of the 7 houses TWICE (they didn't stamp my express pass the first time). t was a GREAT night! But with the promos for Jason, Freddy & Leatherface...this year looks like its gonna steamroll previous years in attendance.

Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream 2007
freestylenut replied to freestylenut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually, I don't think Bone Grinders was there last year (don't quote me). Anything with a "biker" theme is not "scary" to me. I don't know WHO in their right mind started that trend (HHN did a biker/From Dusk Til Dawn-ish house one year which was "OK" cause of the vamps). But it looks like the Bone Grinder SETS are being used for the Catch Your Breath house (I'm sure to keep costs down). blaha, you should look into what it takes to be a stage manager for these haunts! Its a lot of work, but I'm sure VERY fun & your kind of the shot caller. I'm fine just SCARING people! -

"How are scare zones?" They're great, they had an especially long one last year (I believe Wicked Woods) near Land of the Dragons. Lots of fog & a long, bushy stretch made for some GREAT scares. I asked one of the BG big wigs at the sign-on last week why the decision to keep 3D (among others). He says "its expensive to continually change all 6 houses every year, so we try to add a new one once a year & revamp the older ones for returning guests". Funny how HHN never has a problem with it! But from what I've read, HHN is one of the FEW that changes ALL the houses every year. -
http://www.howl-o-scream.com/tampa/index.htm The dates are already updated on the site. Being that I've been cast as a scare actor for the 2nd year in a row, here are the list of the houses & scare zones going on thus far this year: Haunted Houses: After Hours Radiation Alert 3D - basically a renaming & supposedly "retheming" of the 3D house of many ongoing HOS events (I should know, cause I'm back in it) Hunted Trapped In The Walls Taste Of BLood (new Vampire House) Catch Your Breath (new supposedly "biker" house) Scare Zones Zombie Junction Pharaoh's Revenge Wicked Woods There are two more items listed on my rehearsal sheet...Masters & Monsters and Eternal Midnight, which could either be scare zones (likely) or haunted houses or maayyybe even new shows. I'll update here as I learn more. I don't get to go back until 8/23 for my orientation, usually this is where the "skinny" on EVERYTHING at HOS 2007 is given (though by that time, the site may be up & going & other "insiders" might know more). No "licensed" horror icon characters here, but always a good Halloween event to compliment HHN if you happen to be in Florida in October. Scare ya later!

Great updates guys! Keep 'em coming! Sounds like more & more fun every update. I gotta question! Has anyone gone AFTER Halloween (sometime in November)?? I noticed they have THREE dates AFTER 10/31 (11/1, 2, 3) and was wondering how the crowds are since Halloween is officially over. 13 years now I've been going to this thing (this will be my 14th) & have always wondered. IMO it kinda defeats the purpose of HHN (November is officially Thanksgiving's month), but just wondering if anyone has done these dates? It might be worth a try for one year, ya think?

Wow, I'm amazed. Honestly, that would either make or break me, I personally prefer INSIDE a house than be a street scarer (I feel better & safer in the tighter house spaces, unlike some who like the wide openness of the street). I'll report back after this weekend's audition (even though its not necessarily HHN related).

The Haunt 2007
freestylenut replied to the ghost's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since its strictly a seasonal stint, I imagine there should be a very basic audition process (which consists of U basically acting like a zombie, werewolf, etc). The earliest audition time you go to, the better chance U have of getting hired regardless of how "good" you are (unless U show NO motivation whatsoever). I did Busch Garden's HOS last year and I had SO much fun, I plan on doing it again, they're Return Scare Squad audition is less than 2 weeks away (7/14)! -
True dat! I swam my way through the Universal site and got the same generic HHN site! Ack, what a tease! The link seems pretty legit. After all. halloweenhorrornights.com? Is this a link to what will be posted shortly? Hmmm.... Dead Silence deals with Dolls & Ventroloquist dummies...it'd be nice to see a house themed with this!

Wow, this thread took a turn toward "media" rather than the situation at hand. I'm REALLY curious how the heck this happened! Its indeed a "freak" thing and quite scary in fact. I notice the news covers the accident itself moreso than if the girl is going to be walk normally again the remainder of her life. I have a young son & daughter and I can only imagine the horror the parents must have felt knowing their daughters' feet were severed on a RIDE of all things. Praying there's a silver lining here.

Astroland SAVED!
freestylenut replied to CycloneMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yay! I have another chance to visit this classic place within the next 2 years! Anyone know of the bumper cars with the "dance club" theme? That is THEEE coolest! Its not IN Astroland, but around it somewhere. -
Well, I took advantage of my "Gold" AP member status and rode this bad boy this morning. Rode it a total of 3 times, so if you're contemplating going for the early ride from 8am-9am, its a PERFECT time to get re-rides (most operators are pretty cool about you just taking an empty seat as soon as people coming on the ride take their seats). I'm WIDE AWAKE for work that's for sure! What a rush! Still, I rode the front row all 3 times and for some reason it didn't feel any different than it did before it was floorless. Maybe its just me, I dunno. Another guy that rode the ride 3 times said the BACK row was the best. Guess I'll have to wait 'til next time.

Darksin is on the money. U're best bet is the Universal Discount Outlets in various Outlet Plaza's around Orlando. Man, I'm glad I bought three (one for each movie) of those BTTF Deloreon replicas before my AP expired last year! Wish I would've bought one more of those Hot Wheel size Deloreon's...oh well!

Hey fellow TPR's, any of you Gold or Platinum pass holders go during your "designated time" yet? Just curious if its "empty" enough that U could ride maybe twice? I'm contemplating going tomorrow morning or Thursday! Getting my day started before 8am is quite a chore for me so I'd like to be mentally ready for what comes ahead.

Funniest Ride Experiences
freestylenut replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Some funny freestylneut experiences: 1. After a ride on Kumba (BGT) my wife gets up and as soon as she does a pretty big (annoyed looking) BEE was on her seat buzzing around in circles. It looks like she sat down on it when she strapped in. At first it was pretty scary, but she didn't get stung and the fact that the bee was flying around in circles on the green part of the seat led us to beleive it was DIZZY from the ride it just went experienced. 2. I did a Peter Parker from Spider-man 3 as me & my nephew were on Phoenix (again at BGT) and a very nice, shiny, new looking state quarter fell out from under and floated right in our face as we went up. It bounced too and fro, and I touched it a couple of times but could never get my hand on it. 3. Before launching on Dr. Doom's Fearfall at IOA, we are about to shoot up but suddenly things seem to quite down (we thought it shut down). We all dropped out guard and my sister was on the other end. She tilted her head to talk to me when it SUDDENLY shot up and she hit her nose pretty hard on the safety restraint! 4. Our first time on Alien Encounter at WDW, me & the wife had our mouths open at the EXACT time the background guy says "I had my mouth open" when water shoots out. We laughed uncontrollably for about 5 minutes straight.
