  1. Here are a few photos I took from Saturday. It was a really nice day and we got lots of rides in early on. As mentioned I went Sunday as well with a buddy (we're from out of town) and for the first time ever we went for the flash pass. Even using the regular level it was totally worth it, the park was fairly packed and we got 8x El Toro, 3x Ka, 7x Nitro, 6x Bizarro, 3x Skull Mountain (back row is way more fun than it should be), 3x Zumanjaro, and 1x of Namtab, Log Flume, Mine Train, Sky Screamer, Superman, Green Lantern, Twister, and Blackbeards over both days, about 16 hours total. (Yes it's a lot but we're both young and don't visit too often lol). Front row Kingda Ka--> amazing ride. Row 4... Not so much The fight against obesity, the walk to Zumanjaro. I never know which walk this is. At least we can see El Toro being awesome. By far my fav drop tower. The views are honestly amazing and the drop is pretty good. The brakes are the most intense part which is weird.
  2. I wasn't with him, but I did see him waiting for the last row early on. Neither of us wear coaster shirts (and he's only a borderline enthusiast ). I probably saw you at some point though. I have to agree about SFA. Its my home park and it's definitely getting better/less easy to make fun of. One more really top tier coaster like an El Toro clone (or an RMC) could make that a good lineup, along with more two train ops and some trees. Boldikus, I'll probably make it to SFA one more time this season during/around Fright Fest at some point. Let me know if your plans work out, but yes definitely get to Hershey before SFA lol.
  3. Haha will do! You gotta make it back down to SFA (aka hell) sometime soon! Coaster Hero--what were you wearing? I probably saw you at some point too lol
  4. ^^^I thought I saw you but wasn't sure, that's me in the blue and my buddy sitting next to me on the bull. It was an awesome day!
  5. You're trying to call people out for what you should be banned for doing. You're a hypocrite through and through. Also, I just re-read the post you're referring to. All that poster said was he encountered rough and inappropriate crowds and he wouldn't return. How is this racist? You're assuming that when anyone mentions rough crowds they are referring to black people--which is an extremely racist assumption in itself. Why do you post here if all you're trying to do is stir the pot against Dorney, make racist comments, then call out other posters for doing nothing wrong?
  6. Just got back from the park today and will be there all day tomorrow along with the ert. All coasters were open although Ka only ran two trains. Nitro's crew was really on it today. Overall, for how busy the park seemed on the midways the lines weren't all that bad. About 30 mins for Ka at 5 pm, 20 for Nitro at 4, El Toro was a walk on until around 1. No complaints from me and I can't wait to get more rides on the bull tomorrow.
  7. They're currently running two trains on Diamondback even though the line looks to be at least 20 minutes. Not a bad move, considering they double stack about 8/10 dispatches that I watch on the webcams (yes Im a nerd). Obviously this isn't the most accurate way to view efficiency, but this crew has been awful and isn't improving.
  8. That right there is sig material! Anyone else planning to be there for the National Coasater Day ERT on Sunday morning! I know it's only 30 minutes but it's El Toro so it's hard to pass up. I'll definitely be attending! I will be there with a buddy of mine. Didn't know it was El Toro--that alone makes it 1000x worth it. Edit: and boldikus--looks like I might finally meet you! I'll be at row 18 (or 17 if need be) asking as I can for ert, as well as throughouth the day.
  9. Never in my life did I think I would read such an amazing sentence.
  10. I hope Ka is back open tomorrow, I'll be there both days this weekend and he has no idea what he's in for Can anyone confirm if it's just a temporary closure, or if it's more than just today?
  11. ...or maybe because Volcano has shit capacity and is a popular ride. And wait... how does having excess people queuing for Shockwave instead of riding other coasters make Volcano's line longer? "Ridiculously long lines at Intimidator."
  12. To be honest that's not much of an accomplishment at all. When I visited with my bro earlier this summer we both noticed throughout the day how minimal and sparse the theming was. That's not to say the park wasn't scenic and pleasant, but it certainly is not well themed. And I-305 has very loose theming--a car and billboard hardly qualifies as "theming."
  13. As horrible as this situation is for everyone involved, my heart goes out to this guy's family. Seeing those tweets and his Facebook page makes it seem so real, and frankly it could have been someone in your own family. I lost a brand new iPhone on Nitro at GrAdv to finish out a fantastic day doing what I love. Of course I was disappointed in losing the phone (more so in SF customer service for lying to us multiple times about policies), but material possessions can be replaced; lives, unfortunately, cannot. Nobody is at fault besides some poor judgment it seems, and we can only hope this serves as a wake up to call to anyone that has thoughts about risking it all just for a piece of dispensible technology.
  14. Yeah... because they can suddenly decide within about two days that 2017 is a good year a B&M wing coaster. These rides are planned years in advance, and if you *actually* had reliable inside sources to the park, then a) you would know that, and b) you wouldn't be telling us. That's why I, along with probably everyone else, am calling BS on every piece of this.
  15. Even if that were to be true (which in all likelihood is not), you just pulled that number out of your rear, my friend. This rough calculation will take, oh, thirty seconds tops... Windseeker... $5 million (min.) Planet Snoopy... $5 million (min.) Soak City expansion... $8 million (min.) Other improvements (which DO count, btw)... $7 million (min.) That right there is at least $25 million, probably a whole lot more. Kings Dominion is not "neglected" and I'm tired of people complaining otherwise.
  16. Why do you find this so unrealistic? I actually had very similar thoughts. New attraction planning surveys aren't just for the upcoming year, because if you know it or not 2016 was already in the books when they sent out the surveys. Great America built two $10+ million coasters just two years apart. The Free Spin, from what I've heard, is well under that price tag. I could easily see a new coaster in Old Country for 2018/19.
  17. It's prly not gonna be a wing coaster. Almost every rumor going around points to an S&S 4D, and many of these rumors are pretty reliable. Just wondering, what makes you think it'll be a wing coaster? You just don't want it to be so you assume it is?
  18. I'm assuming that by merge point you're referring to where the Flash Pass entrance places you in line, right? If so, each of the four attractions you listed have their FP entrances place you essentially right into the station, so it'll give you roughly just a station wait. Zumanjaro would be just one ride cycle, the other three attractions it will depend on how crowded the stations are. Play it safe - buy ahead of time. Waiting to buy at the park really only applies when there's a chance the park is dead. That will not happen that weekend. I've heard so much mixed advice for buying FP's early.mMany say wait until you arrive to gauge crowds/weather, etc. while some say buy online to save time and to be safe. I'm planning on visiting this Saturday and going for the regular FP... I expect crowds to be heavy, but I still want to wait and see. Does it take long to buy them in park? What are the odds of them running out of regular FP's before about noon?
  19. Adventure Alley was technically a new area in 2012, although it was more of just a new set of flats and a Skyscreamer to bring more foot traffic, not much in the way of theming or refreshments.
  20. Something I've been thinking about, tossing around the idea in my mind... I wonder if Cedar Point would consider building another speed/mega coaster (in the traditional sense) anytime in the near future, as long as Magnum is still standing. They've already touted their 2020 project for their anniversary, and given that, if a park has one, speed coasters are often times the most popular "e-ticket" ride in the park, the idea at least comes to mind, even it isnt realistic. The fact is they're running out of B&M designs to choose from (assuming a new one isn't in development) and an I-boxed Mean Streak doesnt seem like something they'd choose as their huge anniversary project coming up. This is probably a ridiculously stupid idea and I shouldn't have posted it, but regardless I'm still curious what the general consensus on this is. Are two hyper/speed coasters the limit for a single park?
  21. Larson, though they're not known for their capacity. With Six Flags' current business model, even if the Larson towers are better rides, they're more often than not gonna go for the "OMFGZZ BIGGEST FASTEST DROP RIDE EVAR!!!!1!!!111!!!11" just to claim some records because that's what GrAdv visitors have come to expect. I give them credit though, out of all the useless records they've claimed, they've never gone for the "tied for world's steepest drop ride." That would be entertaining.
  22. I'd bet the drop towers were primarily because the existing towers are both Intamin manufactured. Plus, Intamin is one of few fairly reliable drop tower manufacturers for super tall drop heights.
  23. I think Gatekeeper was just somewhat of a fluke or a long pause for coasters after Maverick. If you look back at Cedar Point's history, since the 80's they've built new/record breaking coasters every few years. Magnum, Mean Streak, Rapor, Mantis, Millennium Force, Wicked Twister, and Top Thrill Dragster (plus a kiddie coaster in there) were all built in a timeframe of four years max in between (Mantis and Millennium Force). After Maverick, and acquiring the Paramount parks, they wanted to focus on other parks, and reimagine the image of Cedar Point being more well rounded (not that it wasn't already). So, they took a five year break (2008-12) at Cedar Point, then got right back on track with Gatekeeper. Two years of pretty minor investments relative to the parks history (excluding the Breakers renovation which was funded from a waterpark sale) and you have another great opportunity to reimagine the Marina gate for what is presumably much more affordable than Gatekeeper. Anyways, that just my theory. It's not that this was particularly sped up, it's just the period of time between Maverick and Gatekeeper was a sign of change for the company. Or the entire US economy tanked (upper midwest especially hard) and Cedar Fair didn't feel the need to spend on a park that had a ton of coasters already. This is also a valid explanation To add to this, it's not like they stopped investing in the park. They just focused on other parks as well, including another another upper Midwest park.
  24. I mean... I don't have the strongest stomach for rides. I know I have limits. But I ride as much as I can handle and I love them. Am I not allowed to be an enthusiast? I'm not following. These Voyage superiority posts are eerily similar to I305isadrug's I-305 superiority posts recently. ...and I think he just called Robb not an enthusiast because he prefers Voyage with the mid course enabled? That's a stretch.
  25. That would be ideal, but realistically, this is Six Flags and RMC. RMC does inversions very well, and Six Flags (come to think of it) hasn't installed a full size steel coaster without inversions in quite a long time. Was Texas Giant the last time? That would be a little ironic. Your post has me very confused. You said that they haven't installed a full size steel coaster without inversions in a long time. Then asked if the wooden Texas Giant was the last one? Okay... NEW Texas Giant. Was that the last time?
