  1. ^You need to calm down--and fast. In order to get respect, you have to give it.
  2. Looking at going to Haunt Friday, October 9th. Is there any reason the park is open what are the usual Saturday Haunt hours this particular Friday? All the other Friday's are 7-12 but this is 10:30-midnight. It seems like it would be a good day for low daytime riding crowds and lower Haunt crowds being a Friday, but is there any reason it's open all day? A special event I don't know about?
  3. I'm surprised they either canned or delayed the Vortex transformation. All reports say Rougarou was a success and with Discovery Kingdom grabbing attention you'd think they'd want a fighting chance in 2016. Nonetheless, let's hope this new attraction is at least a success by its own standards.
  4. I miss when they didn't sell fast Lanes... but it was worth it Well... Okay. That's exactly the point of the entire system, so obviously you don't miss when they didn't sell them or you wouldn't have used the system. In my opinion there' a time and place when Fast Lane/Flash Pass is a lifesaver and is a fantastic optional tool the park provides. When parks are used as family vacations or a destination for a trip, it's a great option. What people fail to understand is that Fast Lane isn't meant to separate or discriminate against the poor. It's meant to make sure people can have the best day of their summer and make a memorable, enjoyable day out of something that otherwise might not be. These are the parameters I use to determine when to shell out the cash for a virtual queuing system, and as it should be, it's very infrequent.
  5. If they are going with just a standard re-track, new trains would be a major factor in how long it lasts. Hopefully that's part of the equation! According to Screamscape, they're scrapping the PTC's in favor of new Millennium Flyers. If this in fact I think that's awesome. Keep in mind that this is Screamscape, so its not confirmed.
  6. ^No... There's a big reason Shockwave is being removed from Kings Dominion, and enthusiasts have nothing to do with it.
  7. ^Obviously I'm not in a position to say this with any certainty, but because of the weird support structures of Arrow/Morgan hypers it would seem like way too much effort and money to make the same product with custom supports and a better layout. There are no traditional hyper coasters that come to mind that are so unpopular that a conversion of such scale and cost would be warranted. Wooden coaster support structures are a major expense, Arrow hyper supports are not as intense in terms of amount of material. A custom layout is a better idea, IMO.
  8. Assuming it is completely optional and doesn't cause more harm than good (in terms of sanitation, motion sickness, and capacity), I think it could a good move. It's not like this is a super high profile ride that would be destroyed by some VR sets that aren't even required (again assuming they aren't). You never know if something is a good idea until you try it, so why not? Enthusiasts seem to love combination coaster/dark rides, and being one of the tamer, older coasters at the park I don't see any harm in giving this the green light.
  9. ^The crowds are never that terrible. As long as you don't try to ride Batwing when the crowds are heavier if it's running one train, you won't have much difficulty doing every coaster multiple times and every maze once if you're interested in that.
  10. And that's exactly what I'm saying. In a perfect world, everyone will follow the posted and spoken instructions, but that just isn't the case. On any given train there are at least 4-6 people that are either sitting with their knees parallel to the ground or standing so tall they can't touch the ground. This is exactly why I said "if ridden correctly." If you follow the instructions it's a very good stand up and would be a star attraction in most parks. If you have ridden stand ups before you can ride defensively (lean head forward, bend knees ever so slightly when the train locks so your head is above the restraint if you're tall enough) to make the ride that much better without worrying about working with the maneuvers at all to avoid discomfort. All in all though if you have the time and the line is reasonable it's wirh a ride to judge for yourself. I don't persoanlly ride it very often because I enjoy some other rides in the park more, but that's just my opinion and it's totally cool if someone LOVES Green Lantern. It's awesome if you do because that's what riding coasters is about.
  11. Looking at the trains, the headrests to me signify either a very powerful launch or more extreme inversions that those we've seen on there I-box/wooden coasters. Just a thought.
  12. There are more park-friendly options hot on the market right now. That's the simplest explanation.
  13. If either is less than 15 minutes it is absolutely worth a ride. Green Lantern, if ridden correctly, is incredibly smooth for a stand-up and fairly smooth for a multi looper in general. The main issue I have with this ride is all the blood rushing to my feet which becomes very uncomfortable by the end of the ride. It's almost like they pushed the stand-up gimmick just a little too far for the technology available at the time. As for Superman, its line is very deceiving and never moves, as coasterbill mentioned. The pretzel loop is very cool and never makes me nauseous, but the rest of the ride is incredibly boring and you shouldn't give up any El Toro or Nitro re-rides waiting for it. If you've run out of the top tier rides to ride (or re-ride) by the end of your visit and they have short waits (which they probably won't), go for it and use Green Lantern's single rider line. Otherwise, the time is better spent waiting for another lap on El Toro. Then again, almost any time is better spent waiting for El Toro. Huh.
  14. ^I've done both options and have had great success doing both. However, for me at least, I find that having Ka out of the way allows me not to stress about how crowded the park may be and how long Ka's line will be. For this reason, I like to get Ka out of the way, even it starts the day running tests for 20-30 minutes. El Toro has no line until at least 45 minutes after opening no matter what, so getting half a dozen rides in after Ka is definitely reasonable in 30-45 minutes. As I said it's also no stress as you'll have Ka done and can can try to comprehend how amazing El Toro is in the last two rows. Of course it's totally up to you in the end but both are highly recommended if you want Ka and re-rides on El Toro. And ride Kingda Ka in the front. Another reason to go there first--five train wait or less for the front now, 90 minutes later.
  15. 10:30 is definitely an ideal arrival time. If it hasn't been mentioned yet make a bee like to Kingda Ka to have any chance of a reasonable wait. If it's less than about 10 trains for the front do that, it's worth the extra time for this coaster only. After this ahead to El Toro and get as many laps as possible before the lines get long. Even though the crew has been pretty good this year it can get a very hefty line in the afternoon. After this youve knocked out the two "must-rides" for first time visitors, and can enjoy riding whatever else you like until you leave. If you're so inclined (which you should be), take a ride on Zumanjaro, whether that's befween Ka and Toro or sometime later. Have a great time!
  16. I-305's drop in the back is very underrated. Actually people don't really talk about it that much but I-305 is very much a back seat ride IMO, especially for the drop. The front is okay, but feels so much shorter than MF's drop, while the back on I-305 feels so much more powerful than the same seat on Millennium--ejector (or "what would be ejector," for the ridiculous people that think OTSR's automatically mean no airtime because you don't physically leave your seat). For any coaster though it's absolutely El Toro. I haven't gotten on Skyrush yet but it's the best sustained ejector airtime on the east coast excluding the next three airtime hills on the same coaster. (Oh yeah, that's why El Toro is so good. Lol.)
  17. ^ Certainly does--much appreciated.
  18. ...and I have another new desktop background. Seriously, these photos are amazing. Really captures the details of the park that most people don't see even at the park, let alone in photos. Keep it up!
  19. ^That kinda sucks but I totally get why they do it. Thanks for the info. With that in mind it seems that the park doesn't open until 1 on Sunday, Oct. 11, so going the previous Friday or Saturday makes more sense just because it's open an additional 3 hours before Haunt. Is it a good assumption that Friday, Oct. 9th would be the best day to go on Columbus Day weekend to have the best opportunity for multiple rides on the major coasters? How are crowds during the day in October compared to the same day of the week in the Summer?
  20. ^Thanks for the heads up. I've been looking through the KD site and I can't find anything about restrictions for the free visit other than any "regular operating day." Can anyone shed some more light on this? Do they kick you out of the park when Haunt starts (is that 7pm?) or would you just have to buy the separate ticket to experience the mazes? If you're still allowed in the park and can continue riding coasters that's totally fine with me.
  21. Getting back on a less aggravating topic... I've never been to a Cedar Fair Haunt before and plan on picking up CF 2016 platinum passes for a Cedar Point/Kings Island trip. With the free 2015 visit, living reasonably close to Kings Dominion, I'm planning on visiting sometime Columbus Day weekend. What's the best day for this particular weekend? I enjoy Halloween events and mazes, but have only been to SF events. Are there any fees associated with the mazes? They're not a top priority (night rides on I-305 take that crown), but if the lines are reasonable I'd like to do the better mazes if possible. I'll be there open to close (or at least 9pm) in all likelihood since I've had SF passes the last few years and am finally switching over with next summer's plans unfolding. Any info is appreciated!
  22. Second best isn't good enough for KD fans. You either beat Intimidator 305 or don't try. This is possibly the most obnoxious post I've ever seen on this forum... ...Unless it's sarcasm? I can't tell. It's very sarcastic. This thread has been littered with posts of almost comparable nature, but in a serious manner. He's reiterating how ridiculous the tone of the posts about this park has been.
  23. Here's an idea: Just keep doing what you're doing, because it's obviously working. B&M makes some of the best park-friendly coasters for those than can afford the up front cost. The rest of the additions seem to be fairly meaningful each year and IMO they've done a really nice job upgrading infrastructure and working in areas the parks need work the most, not just "it's been awhile since a new coaster so... here" like many posters on the smaller Cedar Fair park threads believe.
  24. ^Ahh yes, Nitro still has my phone. I'm being nice and made it my avatar in hopes that it'll give it back someday. Or that it'll get repainted
  25. ^Speculation is educated inferences backed up by reasoning, done in a respectful manner. Not posting some baseless information, then spamming others' posts throwing your ideas back out with no regard to what you're replying to at all. The rest is self-explanatory and I shouldn't need to tell you why this thread is annoying.
