Operating seasons seem to come and go so quickly these days. We have reached the conclusion of the 2000 season--a season that will go on record as the best under new management, and one of the best since the 1980's. The three new attractions this year have proven a hit, despite occasional downtime on Renegade River. However, as only one of four drenching water rides, there is no shortage of opportunities for guests to cool off... --Leaked from Frontiertown local governement-- July 22, 1999--Frontier Parks files for permits to exceed the 100 ft. 'soft' height restriction --Permits granted, January 7, 2000-- May 13, 2000--Frontier Parks petitions the 200 ft. 'hard' height restriction, files to exceed 300 feet --Application pending, July 30, 2000-- This is where things get interesting. Comments appreciated. Those lucky enough to catch Renegade River when it is operating rave about the unique style of the water coaster, although ridership is lower than anticipated BackFire, on the other hand, has operated consistently--and draws in quite a crowd Shown is the Log Flume with riders stuck on the first lift Last year's new kiddie coaster has been a huge hit in the Frontier Explorers children's area The new go karts have given this corner by Space Adventure Theater much more foot traffic Whatever Frontier Parks have up their sleeves seems to be some sort of big secret Those that know are tight lipped. Those that don't are numerous, to say the least.

Wow... I never thought I would hear this from someone who really "gets" El Toro like myself. I even have El Toro above I-305, Maverick, etc. It seems Fury 325 is legit, and perhaps B&M really is getting their swagger back. -

With the color scheme comment, he's just referring to the fact that Gatekeeper, Millennium Force, Corkscrew, and Blue Streak have relatively similar color schemes, as do Maverick, Iron Dragon, Top Thrill Dragster, and Magnum. By my count, that's 4 blue and 4 red. How dare you forget Pipe Scream -

Yes, they do, typically at the bottom of the first drop due to the forces and how easily the restraints are pulled / pushed down. Also, if you leave too much space between your lap and the restraint in the station, the operator will push it down on you. yeah most operator's do that if it's too visible. But how awesome would it be if the restraints stayed in there first position, you would feel like you're launched into heaven over those hills. I was lucky enough to not get stapled on the last row of El Toro one ride last week. I left about two inches between the lap bar and my thighs, and my seat belt was fairly snug, but not squeezing me. The first drop on El Toro is always riduculous in the last row, but this was so good it felt like it shouldn't be legal. Unfortunately the pullout stapled the lap bar immediately and it returned to "just" balls to the wall insane. (I want to point out that I was in no way putting my self in danger or breaking park rules. The attendant still checked my restraints as usual, just didn't push down further as I've come to expect.) I actually overheard someone ask about stapling (I was sitting next to a guy in a group of three that were huge El Toro fans) and that attendant said there's no use because the ride staples you anyways. -

I had no problem adding a Fast Lane pass for Tuesday to a checkout cart. Go back and try again, as there's no way either of those are possibilities. -
Outside of Magic Mountain, this seems to be a common stereotype that really isn't all that well supported. Yes, many of the SF parks have removed some (or many flats) in the last decade or so, but it's not like other corporate regional parks have dozens more flats than the average SF park. Maybe it's just me as Great Adventure and (to an extent) SFA have some of the better flat collections in the chain--I don't really know.

This is true as it is in every other park but, I have had my phone fly out of my pocket on Maverick (I'm dumb and forgot to zip up my pocket). I politely asked the ride attendants if they ever walked the track at close to find missing items and they do. I wasn't the only person who asked for their phone back that night. Everyone that showed up at the end of the day got their phone back, only one was completely destroyed and the park isn't liable to replace or fix it. Everyone there was very understanding of that fact, including the person whose phone was destroyed. Shout out to those workers for going the extra mile for me and others, not sure if any other parks do that. Damn you Great Adventure! (Lost my new iPhone on Nitro this week, lost and found employees say "not even maintenance goes into Nitro's woods.") -
Has your guys' Superman been running a little rough this year as well? At Darien Lake, I think that this year the ride has felt a little bumpier and rattily; although I usually ride in the back. Seeing that these were the first Intamin hypercoasters built, the trains could either use major refurb, or new ones altogether. If anything, I would like to see the trains go away with the current restraints, as my legs always bash against the side brackets. Ive ridden Superman twice this season and it was honestly pretty good. Although this was my first time riding it since 2013. However I feel like superman is starting to creep up the lifthill very slow now. They actually sped up the lift chain considerably around Fright Fest 2014, and I believe it is still running at that faster speed. Even still it's an old Intamin hyper and the lift is still nowhere near the speed of their modern cable lifts. It used to be far worse though.

Frontier Forest seems to be ready for major investment for the long haul. Thanks for the comment! Many regional theme parks were adding go-kart style upcharge attractions, most of these with no coherent theme or backstory. The same seems to be the case for Frontier Forest, although the name and build style does match the surrounding area. The Premier Liquid coaster is one of the few in-game models that is most accurately supported with no additional supports. Renegade River would be the second of only three rides of its type--the other two being Buzz Saw Falls (1999; now defunct) and Vonkaputous (2001). The tower is the only section more accurately depicted with custom supports. Thank you! The future seems bright at Frontier Forest. I assure you, big things to come. Stay tuned.

This thing's only 2,700 feet long and cost $15,000,000 to have RMC work its magic. Still sound really cheap? Did you read what the release even said? It said it would cost 15 mil for an entirely new coaster, but they're "saving" money by reusing some of the structure. I think it's safe to assume that if they're "saving" money, they're spending less.

Too bad I just missed you boldikus. It sounds like Wednesday was way more crowded than Monday and Tuesday, as even midday Tuesday row 2 on Kingda Ka was about 20 minutes. El Toro filled one set of switchbacks both days, but I did most of my riding before about 2 so I grabbed about 8 rides overall. I'm glad Nitro didn't hate you as well

They probably realized that they would have zero chance of finding the phone and told you something that sounded official. Sucks that you lost your phone, and sure they could have made an attempt, but trying to find a phone in those woods after dark would have been fruitless. This may be true, but another woman at lost and found at the same time lost her phone on Nitro around the same time and used her tablet for "find my iPhone," and could prove it was in the woods. They still were having none of it. Also, I know it's not a big deal and it was my fault for trusting my pockets too much, but two things... 1) Why would they bother enforcing the no loose article policy (no putting phones on the bottle shelves) if they don't bother checking restraints until the previous train has dropped off the lift? And they didn't enfore any of these policies on Bizarro. 2) The lady at Guest services told me maintenace checks the entire surrounding area of all the coasters/rides each morning before handing the keys to the operators... But then the (extremely disinterested, I might add) lost and found crew just said "nobody's going to find your phone. If they are able to trip over it they might pick it up, but otherwise what's lost on Nitro, even if it still works and you can see it, belongs to Nitro." Just sayin... Cedar Point has numerous ride bins for this reason and has infinitely better dispatches than Six Flags *best* operations. Oh well.

What's funny is most visits I do just that, but it was so incredibly hot I just couldn't wear heavy clothing. I had ridden the back row of El Toro and Kingda Ka about a dozen times already with no pocket issues, and on my last ride of the day Nitro's light and comfy floater hills decided to hate me. Maybe it wouldn't be so sour if Six Flags treated it nicely and repainted it

Thanks again for the words of advice--our visit Sunday went very smoothly. We had no problem processing the SP for a friend under the name of the purchaser, if you were wondering, and got the other two in for $30 each. We got into the water park first thing at 11, and quickly rode Tornado, the Shark slides, Bonzai, Zoomazon Falls, Halfpipe, as well as the two slides past Tornado (don't remembee the names off the top of my head). Our favoties were Tornado and the slides nearby. I enjoyed Bonzai (and didn't wait at all), but it was just so short and jarring that it wasn't quite as fun as the others IMO. Overall, we really enjoyed the waterpark. I would consider going back this summer on a day as hot as Sunday (100 degrees), but I'm not in a huge rush to get back. If the 2016 expansion includes a new slide or slide complex I'll definitely go back next summer, though the cleared area doesn't look big enough for a kiddie area and a major addition. After this, we decided to ride some of the coasters for a couple hours. Since they had never been, we rode Wild One, Superman, Jokers Jinx, and Mind Eraser (we were nearby after riding the Rapids, not my choice). We also waited on the bridge of Shipwreck falls because the line was probably almost 30 minutes long which is insane for a shoot the chutes ride. Most of the coasters had station waits or shorter which wasn't bad at all for a Sunday. Superman was only running one train which is questionable for a Sunday with a line just outside the station, though. A fun visit overall and the park looked very clean and moderately busy, though more concentrated in the water park. I'm excited to see the 2016 additions and I hope I'm not disappointed after a small investment for 2015.

Just got back from visiting Monday and Tuesday for about six hours each day. Not going to do a full TR, but I finally decided to wait for the from on Kingda Ka--so worth it. Butter smooth, everywhere else was so rattly it was incomparable. El Toro has quite a bit of jack hammering through the valley of the turnaround and leading into the retun run floater hill. Other than that, the bull was flying and the RT hill is the best coaster element ever, I don't care what you say. The back seat makes this ride and has infinitely more ejector than even the fifth car. The ride was running much rougher than last year, but felt fast and the RT hill alone, combined with greying out in the twister section, makes me appreciate the intensity even more than last year when it was smoother. I had it ranked as my number one but now it's even a notch above that. I just need to ride Skyrush because intense ejector is definitely my kinda thing. Asides from that, Nitro was running well. It stole my brand new iPhone 5s into th woods, though it didn't even break as it still rang when we called it. Six Flags says "not even maintenance can go into Nitro's woods after closing." Umm... I disagree.

I think it's tough to compare the decisions of KK and CP as they are in completely different generations of existence. I do think KK is going about this the right way. Distancing themselves from Twisted Twins when marketing this new ride. I think Cedar Point would profit more however on the demolition of Mean Streak and creation of a new ride or two in the existing Mean Streak footprint. Their reputation of "The World's Best Collection of Roller Coasters" wouldn't suffer by an RMC rework of Mean Streak, but it wouldn't be enhanced. I think New Texas Giant really is driving their desire to not rework Mean Streak. The fact that they would more than likely be getting a clone of someone else's ride would be a shot to their collective egos. I know they have some clones there now, but they haven't installed one in quite some time. ...It might even be better than Maverick. ...say what now?

Frontier Forest has kicked off its 25th anniversary season with a splash. Into the new millennium, the 2000 season welcomes three all-new experiences, featuring two new roller coasters. The rumors became reality when BackFire, a Vekoma Boomerang roller coaster, dominated over the midway in the former location of Pendulum. Also new in 2000 is Renegade River, a Premier Rides "Liquid Coaster," the first in the eastern United States and only the second in the world. The final new attraction this year is Adventure Raceway, an upcharge go-karts attraction located adjacent to the Adventure Theater. Otherwise of note, Frontier Forest had filed a petition to surpass the 100 foot height restriction yet again, along with other clauses in the petition that have not yet been released. No word from the park for what or when this may be for, but it seems new management is pulling full steam ahead, with over $10 million invested in 2000 alone, aided by a 2% spike in attendance in 1999. Comments appreciated! Welcoming in the new millennium is Forest Flyer, still one the most popular attractions in the park for the last two decades NEW in 2000 is BackFire. Despite being a mass-produced "clone," this ride was hand selected to dominate the surrounding midway BackFire features six inversions--three forwards, three backwards Also new in 2000 is Renegade River. Riders escape the law through their 1,600 foot long adventure through the forest during the roller coaster section ...ending with a five story splashdown, comprising the water ride portion of the ride Riders float down the river back to the station on Frontier Forest's tenth roller coaster Adventure Raceway is an upcharge go-karts attraction Nestled between the Adventure Theater and Forest Flyer, Adventure Raceway is over a quarter mile of excitement After 11 years of operation, Coyote remains one of the most popular roller coasters in the park, despite only running two trains on most operating days. ...and we see some surveying nearby... The back of the park has been forever transformed with two new roller coaster experiences Park overview, May 2000

^Exactly one previous example is nowhere near enough "data" to call something a trend. Batman was two years apart from Iron Rattler. This means absolutely nothing for when the next coaster could be. I'd fully expect there are multiple other SF parks that are a higher priority for a new coaster than Fiesta Texas. To add to this, I really don't see a Yolo clone happening anywhere. It's a terrain coaster, firstly, and is a record breaking coaster--which in general are not cloned. Many parks just don't clone other parks' premier (no pun intended) attractions.

My preferred seat on I305 is the last row because of the ejector air on the drop. The drop isn't as strong as the same row on El Toro, but it lasts a good half second longer. The main camelback, for me, provided floater the entire way through, hinting at ejector by the crest in the last row. The transitions for me were more about intensity than airtime, though there was still some to note, as well as the (insanely heavily trimmed) camelback on the final stretch. I took ten rides on I305--once in row 1, the other nine in the last car, and greyed out every single time.
