  1. By "traditional" I was mostly referring to build type and style. No steel box, not prefabricated, no inversions, etc. As traditional as is going to be built, nowadays. Nobody's building any Racer's anymore.
  2. Awesome report! Out of curiosity, what was the reason for seven rows instead of eight or nine? Yes I'm a nerd lol.
  3. Kings Island must have a thing for traditional American wood coasters and night rides deep in the woods. Neither of which are a bad thing. That said--interesting stuff. A more modern wood coaster could definitely benefit Kings Island, but I still wonder if it would remain overshadowed by The Beast. Unless they're going for more of a family/caters to everyone type of ride here which would make sense. Personally I'm with those that were stoked at the prospect of a B&M giga but maybe an entrance refurb/giga coaster project is another few years down the line.
  4. That's quite a blanket statement. Something like Intimidator or Apollos Chariot with just some slow, "iffy" floater air, maybe. El Toro? Get the f*ck out
  5. Yes We're not actually overhyping it (for what it is--keep your expectations in check and you're golden), but don't ride it first. Or last. Ride El Toro or Nitro last. Ride it a lot when the lines are long for everything else, or between 12 and 4.
  6. ^^Thanks for the insight, Dan.Really interesting background there. Best of luck to you. ^Looking forward to the pictures, HWFan!
  7. Ride Rougarou in the back. It's easily the most forceful floorless out there. Bizarro and Dominator are both back seat rides too though just for the way that absolutely rip down the drop and pre drop. That's what I've heard, and I'm generally a back seat rider to begin with. Someone said back right but would the specific side of the train actually make a difference? I could see on something like Valravn with wide trains but I'll make sure I ride the back if one ride is all I opt for. Edit: ahh crap sorry for the miscellaneous trip planning in the Dorney thread again,. I guess Bill was right that there's nothing better to talk about with Dorney. I'll probably get to Dorney at some point this summer for my first time so I can weigh in on Hydra: mediocre or sh*t? later on
  8. I haven't ridden Rougarou as a floorless yet (Mantis sucked) but I will in about a month, so I'll weigh in when I have that mega TR posted. I'm looking forward to it because I'm a fan of intense coasters over large coasters (Dominator is a mix of both).
  9. I'll chime in real quick here that Dominator is also my favorite floorless above Bizarro - and I love Bizarro. Throw in a zero g and Dominator is considerably better. It's probably my second favorite ride in the park and with I-305 and Volcano next door that's saying a lot.
  10. Glad you could make the most of a rainy day. Looking forward to more.
  11. Yea it doesn't even have a "real" drop, its got a fantastic layout and great themeing but honestly I think the ride itself (Excluding themeing) is probably even below average for B&M inverts. Oh you've ridden it to know how well it rides?
  12. ^Normally I'm totally with you on that but in an interview with Rob Decker from Valravn's media day he put a lot of emphasis on the park's 150th and, a few minutes after being asked about how many ideas they have in the books for new coasters at Cedar Point, he said something along the lines of "I think it's gonna be a big one," then smiled and left it at that. It was also emphasized in the long presentation from the Cedar Fair discussion thread that the pie chart was grabbed from. If you want to find the interview its from coasterforce.
  13. Sure sounds like it. Why even mention The Joker? Because he had just ridden what was once an old crappy wood coaster that is now incredible and smooth. I honestly don't know what's so difficult for people to grasp about this... lots of whining for no reason. Didn't mean disrespect. GR is my favorite coaster of all time and I thought he was dissing it. I had to stand up for my lady.I apologize. Ehh, it's not being disrespectful, it's just creating drama for no reason. No worries man.
  14. Yes, we are back in action at Frontier Forest for the 2005 season. As we are learning with the new management/ownership team, a new season doesn't always promise a new attraction. 2005 is one of those years, unfortunately, as the new team delves deep into the books to bring the park out of the red after a long streak of big spending. Take a look at the park for yourself, and let me know what you think. Albatross has been an absolute homerun for the park beginning its third season of operation, despite having slightly lower capacity than its cousins (Superman ROS, Expedition GeForce, Millennium Force and Goliath) with arguably quicker pacing and shorter seven-car trains Along with the Bumper Boats, Enterprise has not operated in the 2005 season... Some trees have been cleared between the children's area and Avalanche Bobsleigh, a dated area of the park
  15. Just picturing that made me literally laugh out loud. Same here
  16. I don't care what she looks like. Is she fun the ride? That's a question of taste RMCs are beautiful. No. Matter. What. I don't think you got it and your age isn't displayed so to be careful I'll just leave it as "agreed!"
  17. Do they ask people queued for the front to get in shorter lines for different rows after official close? So it would be safe to get in line considerably before closing? If that's the case is it a better idea to ride Bat or Banshee at night then queue for Beast at 10 in any row or is the front *that* much better? Don't mean to make this my trip planning thread but this is good information haha.
  18. Awesome report so far. I'll be at Kings Island on July 12th, also a 10pm closing. For those that know, what is Kings Island's closing policy for queues? I want nothing other than a front seat night ride, but do they continue to send trains until the line is dead just like Cedar Point? Or do they tell people queued too long back for the front row to queue for another row? If they do, what time should I get in line for the front row to ensure I get a chance at it?
  19. Sure sounds like it. Why even mention The Joker? Because he had just ridden what was once an old crappy wood coaster that is now incredible and smooth. I honestly don't know what's so difficult for people to grasp about this... lots of whining for no reason.
  20. I don't care what she looks like. Is she fun the ride? That's a question of taste
  21. Yeah those I-box coasters are just revolting parkjourney Amusment today
  22. The point is that traveling 3+ hours with young kids makes am already expensive trip even more expensive and frustrating (and much less convenient) than a 1 hour trip. Most people aren't driving two additional hours for a better coaster collection, so maybe to you it's not a big deal but for most... people don't really have that interest in doing so for an amusement park.
  23. Isn't that where they launch fireworks for the 4th of July celebrations? I'm fairly certain this exact conversation has been discussed on different sites about the same plot of land in the past.
  24. Its interesting that they would promise that, considering there's only 7 places where one can get airtime...max. This is the most "coaster enthusiast-y" thing that's ever been bitched about in the history of coaster enthusiasm. This. It really doesn't matter.
  25. I count anywhere between 8 and 12 potential locations for airtime. Whether or not they all deliver notable airtime is a different story, but it doesn't matter how intense a moment of airtime is for it to be considered airtime. I haven't ridden it, just looking at the layout in comparison to other B&M hypers.
