  1. On Tuesday Bizarro had a 15 minute line for most of the afternoon and at one point while I was in the station the operator said over the mic "we have a line which should never happen so we're kind of trying to be quick right now, so hurry to your seats please." At first it seemed like maybe it was a thoughtful thing to do but after a moment I realized they're essentially saying that 99% of the time they don't care about how fast they're dispatching trains.
  2. I had a difficult time staying upright in my chair after some of your captions and descriptions and how much this park sucks. Looks like you made the best of a sh*thole which is really the way to go. Thanks for a good laugh, looking toward to more!
  3. Concerning the idea that 2016 is a bad year for theme park safety, I'd say that the fact that a non-fatal accident on a ride is major national news points to the overall relative safety of rides and their reputation for safety. Even today (yesterday now) those that went to Idlewild were safer at the park than just driving there, accident included. That said, it's always saddening to hear about an accident but I'm glad to hear nobody died. Hopefully there aren't any unnecessary lawsuits.
  4. I probably have my hopes set far above the mark but I do wonder if there's any possibility that they'd surprise us and introduce some new type of ride instead of a Free Spin at any of the three parks rumored to get one (new to SF parks, not new in general). That said, probably not because a free spin makes sense at pretty much every park and they don't seem like bad rides at all.
  5. Ehh, considering the added travel time between parks you're looking at losing out at least 4 hours so I'd say skip it.
  6. Oh lol I rode El Toro twice before I even looked at The Joker. It's not really a big deal but I was looking forward to riding. If it doesn't open I'll just ride the bull and Skull Mountain a few more times instead.
  7. Well... this blows. Hope it opens today as I won't be back soon.
  8. I don't know that it's fair to call this style of ride a "trend" when it's really split by manufacturer. RMC has and I hope always will do this type of ride/experience, but when you look at what else has been manufactured at the same time across the board, we're not seeing the "omfg krazyyy" type of experiences taking over. Valravn, namely, was one of the least "intense" (in terms of apparent forces/directional changes/whatever) 200 foot tall coasters I could imagine. Point being, there's both types available, and the preference just lends itself to each individual rider. The former happens to be the overwhelming preference in this community.
  9. Strange you didn't have the best experience. Outside of Thunderbolt running one train when I visited, I didn't witness a single instance of stacking on the woodies or Phantoms Revenge. And I found Phantoms Revenge to be incredibly intense and comfortable, like what B&M hypers are supposed to be.
  10. (Sorry, blast from the past here...) Was it... row 6? Can someone explain why this is so funny? I feel like I'm missing something here.
  11. Better hope Bill doesn't see you calling shoot-the-chutes rides flumes. It's a personal insult.
  12. I wish more rides could have such minimal restraints like Jack Rabbit (really all three woodies at Kennywood). I'm sure for insurance and ride manufacturer purposes it's not feasible but I'm glad Kennywood's been able to preserve what makes these rides special. I didn't think any wood coaster could rival El Toro for ejector air but Jack Rabbit's right there with it.
  13. THIS I usually stay out of Dominator discussions because I know I'm one of the only people that doesn't notice a rattle, anywhere. Unless my head is literally pressed up against the restraint I've never noticed anything less than buttery smooth. And it's also fairly intense (more than Bizarro and Hydra, at least--up there with Rougarou).
  14. I haven't slept since the last update just anticipating this one and it didn't disappoint. Great photos!
  15. No crotch parties this time so Ill scratch that off as a win. So, yes I ride the flume alone. And I owned it. Are you telling us you loudly sang "I am on a log flume" the entire ride? I strongly defer these allegations to a later time with my lawyer Speaking of, two guys were being handcuffed and put in the back of a cop car right at the front gate as I left. What a time to be alive.

  17. Well... Got to the park around 9:15 and finished everything by 11:30. I'll probably post a TR later on but I may as well have just gone to Great Adventure (or even better, gone way out my way to Kennywood again). On the bright side--dining plan Chickies and Petes is so much win. The best thing about Dorney
  18. ^ Dominator is an excellent coaster, especially in the back row. The front row is fun for the floorless effect but really this ride is all about the back with the first drop and drop off the mid-course. Unless you're literally pressing your ears or cheek against the side of the restraint there's never an issue and I find it incredibly smooth for how large and relatively intense it is. It's for sure my second favorite coaster in the park.
  19. No. They don't pair people at Dorney. Not only is there nobody else to pair you with but it's not their policy anyway. We always joked about forcing people to ride together on Thunder Creek Mountain. Believe it or not there were a few days during the 2015 season where we had to group on Demon Drop, but grouping isn't done on TCM because of the "crotch party" issue with that ride. Nobody wants a strangers knob on their back. Crotch parties are mandatory at Great Adventure. They love a good crotch party. My buddy and I had to group with an Amish family of four (?) on Great Adventures flume. Not a word was spoken for six minutes. A ride on a flume alone actually sounds strangely relaxing though. I'm excited.
  20. I'm actually really excited to ride Hydra. Not excited in the traditional sense, i.e. expecting a decent-to-good ride, but excited in the sense of seeing what all the talk is about, i.e. the world's most mediocre B&M.
  21. It's only a few minutes. You could break up the uncomfortable tension by telling your new friends all about this crazy A$$ dude you know that rides flumes in 40 degree weather. That'll make things much more comforting. I'll see what I can do
  22. This is one of the rare times I'll be rolling alone at a park, so I assume they're going to pair me up with some family that's suddenly going to hate their lives on the flume?
