I don't want to get all hysterical about this because it's obviously a wait-and-see situation but WHAAAATTT THHHHAAAAA FFFFFFCCKCKKKKKK Busch Gardens says reopening not ‘economically sustainable situation’ in phase 3 https://www.wavy.com/news/business/busch-gardens-says-reopening-not-economically-sustainable-situation-in-phase-3 Get it together, Virginia!

I know this isn't a thread for it but since we're talking about Jersey reopening (and I don't even think there is a thread for this park), Gillians Wonderland in Ocean City has announced they will be opening July 2nd. I would expect Playlands Castaway Cove to quickly follow suit since they are competitors. I'm certain Moreys will be soon after.

I have a hunch about Moreys openings because I have informed sources, but my sources at Great Adv have been tight lipped. This thread is generally a busy bunch so if someone knew something it would be posted here. All we know for sure is the park has been given a green light to open at half capacity. Restrictions, etc are coming per the announcement. And nothing is ever official until the parks announce it. We do know that SF and Moreys are both hiring. So that's good. But those people also need to be trained, which is usually a few weeks. We also know that neither will have the influx of internationals that usually work the park/piers and when you combine that with locals who are laid off and making more money than they were prior to shutdown (so if they can continue to lay on their lazy asses and make even more money that will choose to do that) staffing for any parks in the area is not looking good. Not to say they won't open, but if people expect Six Flags usually-stellar* operations they might as well stay home. (*that's called sarcasm, kids)

Its weird, its almost like the owner(s) of this park hijacked this account to make this post. Also, lots of info with no sources. Or is this just hearsay/rumors? In addition, there is already a thread about this park (with a much better title). -
My name is Boldikus and its been six months since I've ridden a roller coaster. While I'd love things to be normal and to be able to just go to a park without care, I'm oddly not straight jonesing to get back out there this summer. I haven't even been to Wildwood/my folks since Christmas. I guess because pretty much all of my life has been upended I have now - three months in - just gotten simply used to things and now find myself approaching normal contact with the outside world with mild trepidation. Yes we go to the grocery story and corner bodega and beer distributor, but beyond that we've both been home. The missus started part time work again last week and for me today was the first time since lockdown I went into the office and also rode public transit (all with a mask). Yesterday was our first in person function - a drive by birthday party for my nephew after which we sat far apart from one another in the back yard and had cake and whatnot for short time before leaving. It's all weird. Between that and the riots etc last week Philly is still totally locked down. Walking around Center City today was bizarre - partly because I've been going there every day of my adult life but haven't in 90 days, but also because no one is down there for work so its a ghost town, and now everything is boarded up. All that said, while I don't feel the usual urge to constantly get my fix by going to parks regularly, I fully plan to go back to the locals once they're able to reopen. So far all parks immediately around me mostly have no immediate plans to open that I'm aware of, and I'm mostly just keeping an eye on Moreys and GreatAdv. The way I'm looking at 2020 w/ parks is: I hope to still do my Florida park trip in December for my birthday and I really hope to get to Busch Williamsburg and Great Adventure this year and ride Jersey Devil and Pantheon. Mask, temp checks, whatever. And that would be enough. I think I'm OK with a super low-key 2020 in relation to parks.

Dollywood Discussion Thread

LOL what type of masks are people wearing that they can't breathe in? We've been on lockdown in Philly since March 17th, every single time I have left my house since then I have worn a mask - outdoors, in the grocery store, in pharmacies, in the beer distributor, at the bottle shop, and do not take it off until I am home. It's been hot here recently, I am still wearing a mask every single time I go out. I am still alive, I have not fainted, no heatstroke, everything is just fine. All of my friends and family have also been doing this, and guess what? No fainting, no heatstroke, they're all still alive and breathing. Medical professionals have been wearing masks all day for decades and they're just fine. Entitled people will come up with any excuse possible to not do something, and this argument is downright laughable. -

Cedar Point is totally getting a big giant badass roller freaking coaster next year. It's their 150th anniversary of operations! What park would have a 150th birthday and not buy a frikkin colossal rollin coastin behemoth? Lake Compounce, that's who. And that place is a steamin craphole. Cedar Point is gonna outdo them all. Biggest birthday ever, its gonna be unbelievable. Believe me. They're gonna make the worlds biggest cake and have the most amount of smelly enthusiasts jump out of it and there's gonna be fireworks and lazers and synchronized dancing by sharks they're puttin in the lake. Don't forget your masks. -
You two are seriously overestimating what this is. I have personally gone through the safari dozens of times growing up, either with my family, friends, or otherwise. I've gone through in rusted-out Chevy Novas, I've gone through in just-waxed BMWs. There is absolutely nothing at all, animal or environmental, in the safari that will do damage to your vehicle as long as you stay on the road. The dangerous animals (lions, tigers) are behind cages, the other animals are shy or want to lick you (or the bread you have). The only wild card was the monkeys. We usually took the bypass road for the monkeys, but I've been through the main road more than once and the worst thing that happened was the little bastard took a shit on the sunroof. Whoops, my bad. I must have just imagined the half dozen times my dad drove us through this very safari as a kid, monkeys scratching up his paint job and ripping off his antenna among other things. You're clearly more qualified to talk about this than us. My apologies.
