Carowinds Discussion Thread

Oh boy, I'm excited to see the end of track work! I should be making it out to Carowinds in late June, this coaster is going to be a good one! -

^^ Yup, Kings Island owns plenty of land around what just the park takes up. They don't have a lack of space to put rides. -

Cedar Fair won't turn any trains backwards, that includes racer. From what I understand an outside company certifies Cedar Fair's coasters for operation. That company will only give only give the green light to operate a ride if its running on the original manufacturer specifications. That's the reason Racer, Rebel Yell, & Thunder Road were all turned forward once Cedar Fair took over. Since those rides were never designed to go backwards they can't be approved to run that way with the company that Cedar Fair uses. So unless it's a boomerang, or another type designed to go backwards since day one, don't expect any backwards coasters in a Cedar Fair park. -
What is your next park?

Does your home park lose its luster?
JRice92 replied to jamesdillaman's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My home park is Cedar Point, with this year being my 3rd year as a pass holder I'm still excited as ever to get back to the park. With the collection of coasters the park doesn't get old for me. Also, one thing that keeps the park fresh is going with a different group of friends every other week so I get to see all sorts of different perspectives when I visit. When I go by myself I'm someone who will marathon coasters so if I get a particularly slow day I'll just pick and ride and keep riding over and over. With 15 visits last year I still didn't feel like I visited enough. -

Thanks, My plan is to drive from Cleveland that day with a pit stop at Quassay to ride Wooden Warrior before hand. I may be there earlier depending on traffic and what time I leave. So I'll just wing it and hope for the best! -

Hi everybody I had a question about summer crowds at LC. I plan on visiting Saturday June 20th from about 5pm to 8pm closing that day. My main interest is Boulder Dash but would like to pick up the Wildcat and Zoomerang credits too. Is it a realistic expectation to ride all 3 and get 3-4 rides on Boulder Dash on a Saturday in June given just a few hours in the park? -

At Kings Dominion they offer entry 30 minutes early entry for Platinum Passholders on certain rides. I know I305 & Volcano are two of them. At Ceder Point they offer 1 hour early entry for Platinum Passholders on certain rides. Cedar Point had Raptor, Gatekeeper, Iron Dragon, Pipe Scream, Millennium Force, & Maverick open during early entry. And I think a few smaller rides also. Carowinds has the same 30 early entry for Platinum Passholders minutes as Kings Dominion. I don't know their specific rides they open but I'm sure Fury 325 is going to be one of them this year. -

The more I think about it, the more I'm warming up to the idea of a dive coaster coming to Cedar Point. Griffon's a lot of fun, and this would be too! -

I personally don't think Vortex is going anywhere. It always has a line whenever I've gone, it's just never a long line because of good capacity. Of the 6 Arrow loopers I've been on Vortex is easily my favorite. Sure the transitions are the usual Arrow fare but I still see a lit of people that like the ride. Also as far as parts go, S&S has plenty of parts to keep Arrow coasters going for years to come. -

Holiwood nights sounds like a lot of fun. I've never been to Holiday World before. Three excellent woodies, a new B&M and one of the best water parks in the country, count me in! -

I agree with everyone that a dive coaster wouldn't fit. I've only been on Griffon, but the only thing I felt it had going was the first drop, but then I still prefer Millennium Force's first drop more. Sure we don't have a vertical drop but we already have a beyond vertical drop on Maverick, & the unique drop of Gatekeeper. A vertical drop doesn't seem necessary to me, I guess they're just other types of coasters I'd personally like to see at Cedar Point before a dive coaster. Any new coaster I'm still gonna ride and have fun. -

My enthusiast dream, Intamin giga. But realistically like the poster above a Gravity Group or a GCI would work great in the park. -

The behind the scenes coaster tour at Busch Gardens is EXCELLENT! It's well worth the extra money! When I went in June last year they were only giving tours on Wednesdays & Saturdays though. The times for July may be different, hopefully it'll work out on your schedule. -

I was starting to see these pop up all over the place on my trip to Disney World last month. They're annoying. I'm all in for banning selfie sticks. -

Magnum is one of my favorite rides in the park, this past year It has really started to grow on me . What works for me is i just sit forward in the seat almost slouching so the lap bar falls onto my waist instead of thighs. I've found that to give a really comfortable ride. Also, my favorite seat is last row of car 5. The airtime going into the turnaround in that seat is the best! -

I've purchased my ticket for the Winter Chill Out. I'll be in the 10AM group, hope there's some more TPR members in it!
