I'm kind of torn on the future of Gwazi, part of me would love to see it restored or renovated to run like it did in it's opening years, but part of me kind of wants to see it removed. With some of the recent attractions built by Seaworld Parks (Manta, Cheetah Hunt, Antartica when it opens) I'd love to see what their design team could do with that plot of land. Gwazi always was in a bit of a strange location in the park to, you can see all of the backstage areas from the ride, it makes usage of the field for special events a bit awkward at time. I bet if you gave the management team the opportunity to start over they would probably utilize that plot of lad a bit differently.

^^News to me as well, I always thought Cornball Express was a way above average coaster for it's size, some Rocky Mountain love and care can on'y be a good thing right? Hoosier Hurricane was always kind of a meh experience to me, now that thing could use a serious Rocky Mountain overhaul. Before long I'm going to start to think any wooden coaster that hasn't been rocky mountain'd, needs to be rocky montain'd. -
^ I don't remember if I read it, heard it at a presentation, or heard it as a rumor from some nerd in line but I was always under the impression that the MF trains were actually a lot heavier than PTC trains. To me they feel heavier while riding for some reason if that's even possible to feel, but think about a pre lift section on a GCI (Kentucky Rumbler) compared to something running PTC's (like Raven), the MF trains gets up to speed much quicker over even subtle elevation changes than the PTC's. I think it has something to do with moment of inertia, but I was probably asleep (hungover) during that dynamics class. Now if only someone at TPR had some knowledge of GCI trains that could possibly solve this debate for us ...........

TPR's Mexico Tour Mini Updates

Is that Schwarzkopf the same model as the Mindbender in Canada? Looks awesome though. That möbius wooden coaster looks HUGE! I love how that park has pathways and rides and what looks like some kind of a theatre inside under and around the structure of the coaster. Also love the excessivley long pre lift section of track before the hill. I've always loved rides with sections like that, seems like such a small feature that really adds something special to the experience, really helps to build anticipation before the lift. Great footage as usual, Ive loved all if these updates from these rare parks. -

And a "long shot" that would be, indeed. Even more consistent with the themeing, everyone loves a good underdog story! -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So I heard from a very reliable source that Holiday World is not done growing and they are in fact building a new stand up inverted hyper woodie called Long Shot to be located in their new Kentucky Derby themed holiday section....... -
Hahaha, I think this to myself when I read a lot of recipes. Will one quarter of freshly minced rare adobe chili pepper seed extract paste really make that much of a difference in the final product? Probably not but I'm always to ocd to skip a step!

Good Eating Outside of Theme Parks
Hilltopper39 replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If anyone ever visits Beech Bend for some Kentucky Rumbler action there are a few decent places within about a 10 minute drive of the park. There are some more places on the other side of town and closer to the interstate depending on which way your traveling that I could recommend but these two spots very close to the park are great options. For breakfast Teresa's is a great little dive close to the park. It's nothing more than a greasy spoon country diner but it's REALLY good at being just that with an abundance of local charm. I've always ordered the breakfast special but the omlets and pancakes are gigantic and always look delicious. I've never been for lunch but I'm sure they have your typical catfish, fried chicken, chicken friend steak, and a daily special of some sorts. They don't have a website, but here is their yelp page. Teresa's Bowling Green YELP For lunch and Dinner Mariah's is a fantastic little spot in downtown Bowling Green, located inside of a brick house that has been standing since 1818 and is found on the National Register of Historic homes. I haven't been for a few years so I don't remember what the specialty was but everything I ever had was always very good. Seems like the chicken fingers and soups in a bread bowl were always popular. Wow, glad to see this option is still available this season, and I love the added bonus. -
I'm going with YOLOcoaster because it looks really unique with a little bit of everything that I like in a coaster, launches, speed, quick changes in direction, twisty inversion, and maybe even a little airtime. I didn't love Wild Eagle, and while Gatekeeper looks to have a much better layout, the Wingrider coasters don't really get me all that excited (hope this one proves me wrong though), so my vote is with YOLOcoaster!

The Beast. After seeing how crazy Outlaw Run is I can only imagine what the Beast would be like if they just started completely from scratch on everything between the two lifts, then re-worked the finale. Maybe add a barrel roll off of the second lift leading into the double helix or something. I've always thought it would be cool to add 800 or so feet of track to the layout and make that thing the longest coaster in the world again, wood or steel. (I know the purists out there hate this idea, but whatever it would be awesome)

How did you get your screen name?
Hilltopper39 replied to waterviper's topic in Random, Random, Random
I went to school at Western Kentucky and I think I joined the forums while I was there. I played football and my number was 39 and our mascot was the Hilltoppers which also has kind of a roller coasterish meaning, so it worked! -

I don't know anything about this IP but the ride looks awesome. I've always loved Splash Battle rides and feel like this will finally take them to the next level. (now is some would just install one in a water park) -

Those trains are awesome and I got a feeling once all the themeing is installed this thing is going to be a surprise hit of the 2013 season. I love all of these extreme "family" coasters that have been opening around the world lately. I always felt that a lot of parks were really missing the boat by not building coasters for the "we want something more than a wacky worm/roller skater but less than Millenium Force/Montu" family audience but not anymore with rides like this, Cheetah Hunt, Manta @ SWSD, Jet Rescue, every Gerstlauer bobsled, and Kvasten/Freedom Flyer. Lots of great rides out there these days for the whole family. -
Disney World vs. Universal Orlando

I see what you are trying to do here, but this statement is completely false. The WDW property looks better now then it ever has, and is in no way in a "state of decline". Lock it up. -
Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
Hilltopper39 replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
I don't personally find the habit itself gross or offensive but I do think it's incredibly disrespectful and immature to spit all over pathways and walls and and que lines on someone else's property (or anywhere other then into a bottle), and if I were a park official and caught someone doing so I would certainly enforce the policies for that just as much as I would for smoking. -
Smoking: Park policies: Your opinion.
Hilltopper39 replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Random, Random, Random
This is sort of unrelated, but if a park (or any Establishment for that matter) has a "no smoking" policy it is usually worded as "tobacco free" such that it would include all tobaccos (dip, chew, etc.). Do parks enforce usage of various mouth tobaccos the same way they do smoking? Usually if someone is responsible and spits properly in a bottle or whatever it's a kind of a non issue, but an obnoxious dipper/chewer spitting on the ground williy nilly wherever they please can be more disgusting then smoking. Has anyone ever seen a park official enforce a "no tobacco" policy on a dipper or chewer? I remember seeing some teenagers once in line for Voyage who were dipping and just spitting all over the floor and the walls in the que line and I eventually had to say something to them because they were ridiculous. There are rednecks everywhere, so surely someone else has witnessed a patron abusing their mouth tobacco privileges, and possibly a park official enforcing said shenanigans? -
Least favorite coaster element.
Hilltopper39 replied to darklingscribe's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've never been a huge fan of vertical loops. On some coasters they can be really forceful and intense, on some they can be quite "floaty" and have some nice hang time, but more often then not they feel like a whole lot of nothing stuck somewhere in the middle of those two sensations. -
^Then again after seeing some of the things that Rocky Mountain Construction is doing with wood these days I don't know if anything is off limits. The problem I see with an inverted woodie is that the cost of the structure has to be more expensive than it would be for a traditional sit down, so why not just build a sit down? Also, I don't think it does that much to improve the overall ride experience, I mean visibility on inverted coasters is poor enough is as, if you throw an incredibly dense wooden structure into the mix it will be even worse. I maybe could see it working as a dark ride hybrid kind of coaster but as a full sized attraction I just don't know what a park would get out of it.

So this place is basically a random trapeze class set up in a field somewhere off of International Drive? This is the most Orlandoy thing ever, and I love it. Seriously this looks like a blast, I'd love to check it out. Wonder what the weight limit for their harnesses is? Better yet, I wonder what the awesome limit for their harnesses is because my fat arse trapezeing about would be awesome.
