  1. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember hearing that too. I'm completely against a cold weather site. If you're gonna have a championship game of any sort, for any sport, the playing surface and conditions should be as favorable as possible (ex:it's bad enough that the World Series has crept into frickin' November). It's supposed to be about showcasing the best two teams and their talents, and you can't do that if both quarterbacks have to hand off 75% of the game due to their hands being frozen and the ball feeling like a rock! There's just no logical reason for giving one team an advantage over another in the most important game of the season. Obviously you can't prevent rain in traditional SB places like Miami or SoCal, but to run the risk of having inclement weather decide the outcome is absurd. I'm still seriously hoping for a blizzard next year, just to eff up the NFL's plans. Having northern cities host a Super Bowl is stupid enough, but having it outdoors is the worst idea in the history of bad ideas. /end rant I'm a bit torn on this topic, I agree with you that in a perfect world he championship game should be played on a fair neutral surface in ideal conditions, but if you think about it the two teams in the game are from different cities and have had to overcome adverse playing conditions to get to the Superbowl, that's why they are in the Superbowl and overcoming adversity is part of the game. On the other hand yeah it would be awful to see a Superbowl played in a complete shizz storm of rain/snow/freezing cold/wind where you walk away thinking that regardless of who wins I don't really know who the better team was because the weather conditions leveled the playing field so drastically. That would be an awful Superbowl to watch and an awful way to lose.
  2. Wasn't there some sort of incentive set by the NFL a few years ago for teams that if they built a new stadium then they could host the Superbowl? Pretty sure Indy, Phoenix, Dallas, Detroit, and next year New York had never hosted a Superbowl (at least not in a while) until they all built new stadiums.
  3. ^ Tom Brady > rest of the league ......... just kidding. Here is a pretty good article that Yahoo sports wrote about the Harbagh brothers and their relationship to my alma mater Western Kentucky University. Their father Jack was the head coach at Western for 20~ years and Jim was actually an unpaid assistant for 8 years while he was still playing in the NFL. It's kind of a cool story really, the kind of thing that would get a lot of attention in this day and age of social media. Could you imagine the buzz that would be created if someone like Eli Manning or Matt Ryan were doing house call and recruiting high school players in person for their colleges? That kind of thing doesn't happen, but it's a perfect example of who the Harbaugh's really are. Harbaugh Sons use unconventional methods to help father build college football pwerhouse
  4. You have to remember that the park is right across the street from Churchill Downs so that $10 million dollars a year profit could be turned into $50 million a year very easily if Ed goes $3 million across the board on the 6 horse in the 5th race, or if he gets a good tip on a mudder.....
  5. Yeah, you probably would have a better game if it were played a week apart but the Superbowl is such a weird game format wise with all of the commercials and longer timeouts and extended halftime break that it might still be the same. I know a few people who have attended the Superbowl in person and have said that from a fans perspective that it's an awful game to attend. My friend said the stadium is over booked with standing room only tickets, the concession and bathroom lines are incredibly long, the traffic scene getting to and from the stadium in a nightmare, and the game itself is hard to watch because of all of the additional timeouts and commercial breaks like I mentioned. Speaking of halftime, what terrible artists is performing the halftime show this year?
  6. ^Speaking of Kumba how insane would that thing be if they ran it backwards?
  7. ^I get that, though it would be cool to somehow have a park in Orlando participate since the GKTW Village is located. Maybe after Fun Spot finishes their expansion they can be an honorary Cedar Fair Park for a day...
  8. ^I agree, two weeks is one week to long, and for god sake can we change the game to Saturday already? It would make so much more sense to have the game on Saturday night, might even increase viewership a bit (not that the most watched televised event of the year needs anymore viewers but you get my point).
  9. This was always a pretty fun event, the crowds this time of year are really light and the musical are really pretty decent all things considered. If I recall they had a decent beer sampling available a few years ago with some great beers at some surprisingly reasonable prices for a theme park.
  10. I get where your coming from here, but if you think about it when your traveling backwards in a train and have no idea what is coming next then one would naturally be "cautiously braced" for anything that might unexpectedly occur, does that make any sense? I got a feeling that they tested this experience with multiple riders and the feedback must have been positive enough to justify the gimmick, even if only for 1 year.
  11. Would it be possible to run a flying coaster backwards? I'm not sure if it would be or not, but it would be kinda cool.
  12. I guess we can put it to rest for now, but if/when Brady wins his 4th Superbowl ring might have to get back into it . Seriously though, I've seen a lot of comments and discussion about Brady and his legacy as of late but with his recent playoff losses, but come on, the dude is still REALLY good. 17-7 career playoff record with 3 Sueprbowl wins and 5 AFC championships, you can't win it every year but for the past decade he's come really really close. I think Gronk being out hurt them a lot more then people realized going into the game, he's a terrible matchup for anyone and when defenses double team him then they can isolate Hernandez on bad match ups. Even without Gronk in that game, if Ridley doesn't fumble when he got knocked out cold (and he was really close to being down by contact), and if that ball late in the 4th quarter doesn't get tipped sky high and intercepted that game might have had a different ending. Two bad breaks, two turnovers, whole different game, but that's football for ya.
  13. I've never heard of this guy until now, but I'll admit there is some semi-interesting content on his page. But yeah sneaking into backstage area and posting videos of it, your eventually going to get caught, and a ban from the parks should have been expected.
  14. For the sake of my fantasy team's playoff run I hope TB12 has a big day and advances to the Superbowl.....
  15. Is CK7 a thing now? haha, just kidding. I totally agree with what you said, I think Harbaugh knew that playing teams like Green Bay, New Orleans, New England, and even Atlanta he would have to be able to score 35-40 points to win games and CK7 ( ) gives him a better chance to do that. With Alex Smith they aint scoring 40 points a week every week, with Kaepernick they've got a pretty good shot....
  16. Points 2-4 describe Tim Tebow's career at Florida....... Whether Teo is gay or not I still think that there will be a major American sports star who is currently active come out sometime in the next couple of years and it will be a huge story. ^And yeah, the Mormon thing, and I don't believe a word Jack Swarbrick says, ever, so who knows what other dirt there is on this whole situation (and others). Whatever the details are I'm sure the are going to be dug up soon by every news media outlet in the world.
  17. I think I mentioned this before, and it's a bit nitpicky, but I really wish they would have had the lift hill face the park instead of the parkin lot. Seems like it would have been easy enough to have the same layout with a vertical loop instead of the Immelman, and the views of the park and the lake would have been fantastic from the top of the lift. Off my mini soapbox, this thing still looks fantastic and my fingers are crossed that this design fully utilizes the potential of the winged trains and turns out to be great.
  18. ^And more interesting than Lance Armstrong, this story saved Thursday sports radio across the nation. In other news the ownership of every online dating site just said......
  19. ^You can't trust a fullback, we'e all crazy and brain damaged from all the isos and power plays over the years..... But yeah, what the hell? I'm no lawyer so I ask is there any sort criminal charge that can be levied for creating a fake identity though social media and pretending to be that person? Any possible charges for faking the death of a person who does't exist? As intrigued as I was by this story a few hours ago I'm already kind of tired of this whole thing. Whenever Teo speaks publicly it should be interesting.
  20. Even if Teo is the victim of an elaborate hoax whoever is responsible for that hoax is even more disgusting than Teo would be if he were responsible. This whole story is still extremely bizarre and throughout that press conference I couldn't help but think that Jack Swarbrick knows more about this than he is leading everyone to believe, it just doesn't add up. Especially in this day and age of technology how does a guy not get a text with a picture, or a twitpic, or FaceTime or skype this girl in person once over the course of this serious emotionally trying relationship where there were reportedly hours spent on the phone by her side while in the hospital? And if this was an elaborate hoax where Teo is truly the victim I find it hard to believe that a guy who is smart enough to go to Notre Dame would actually fall for this.
  21. What a weird weird story, I mean I don't even know what to think about this. (On a side note after reading through this article I'm convinced that Twitter is the worst thing in the world)
  22. With the four teams that are left any combination will make for a pretty decent Superbowl. I guess Baltimore vs Atlanta would be the least interesting matchup but even that would be a good game. I guess I'm pulling for New England vs. San Francisco for a re-match of what was one of the better regular season games of the year. That or Baltimore vs. San Francisco for the all Harbaugh Bowl and the possible exposure in the national media that might come of it for my Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Football program (their father Jack coached Western for like 25 years, and I'm sure that would be mentioned several times in the two weeks leading up to the game).
  23. Wow, what a game. I'm not normally one to criticize coaches but Pete Carroll left 6 points on the field by not attempting field goals in the red zone in the first half.
  24. Interesting stat here, in the post season Peyton manning is 9-11 in 15 seasons with 8 first round losses while Joe Flacco is 7-4 in 5 seasons with 0 first round losses. It's hard to say a first ballot hall-of-famer like Manning is over rated but sometimes I do think his stats and his personality overshadow his effectiveness especially in big games.
