Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^That's what I'm talking about, the ledger about 1/4 of the way up the structure banking to the right, I don't have a clue what it's going to do, just a guess. I have wondered how they're going to fish the track pieces through/into the structure if the ride follows roughly the same path as the original. I know they've done it before but Mean Streak's structure for some reason looks so much denser than Texas Giant and Wicked Cyclone for whatever reason. I guess if they can install track in Rattler's rock tunnel they can do it anywhere. -

Wave turn out side the structure that disappears into the structure? -

^^After Cedar Fair installed Wonder Mountain Guardian, Voyage to the iron Reef, Mass Effect, and Plants vs Zombies I kind of figured that some kind of dark ride/ interactive attraction would make it's way to Cedar Point, eventually. Maybe it still will. -
For Beech Bend in Bowling Green, KY there are a few newer places. White Squirrel Brewery White Squirrel is in downtown Bowling Green near WKU's campus (Go Hilltoppers) and not far from Beech Bend. I haven't actually been to this location since it opened after I left town but I've heard good things from people I know in the area. Corsair Artisan Distillery Corsairs Artisan Distillery has locations in Nashville and Bowling Green. It's a distillery not a brewery, but it's Kentucky so distilling and bourbon is kind of our thing. Looks like the Nashville location has a tap room so there might be beer after all (but why waste your time with beer when there is bourbon?).

Even the Magic Kingdom ? Wild Wadi looks awesome, I think I posted this comment on the youtube video or twitter but the long flowing interconnecting master blasters reminds of Schlitterbahn South Padre. That's a smaller park and the master blaster system wasn't nearly as complex but I absolutely loved it my one visit there. It was so much fun just sitting on a tube and floating around the river, down chutes, up a conveyor lift, then waiting in line on a tube flowing right into a full sized master blaster slide that spit you out into the lazy river on the other side of the park. I always wanted that concept to take off at more parks.

Hilltopper39 replied to Anac0nda's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had completely forgotten Gardaland built a B&M mini Dive Machine. Nice reports though, Katun is one of my like top 5 or so "bucket list" coasters. Raptor is my favorite B&M invert and Katun is basically a taller faster version of the first half of Raptor with themeing. -
Stand-Up coasters= A failed concept?
Hilltopper39 replied to fraroc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I still want to see a B&M train that is tiered and has 2 rows of floorless seats in the front, 2 rows of sit down seats in the middle, and 2 rows of standup seat in the back. Six Flags could turn Green Lantern/Riddlers Revenge in to the whole Justice League on one train. -
I remember back in the ole early days of the internet (and TPR) Tower of Terror was one of the most interesting rides in the world (to me). It opened for a few years, then was SBNO, it had a lift hill at one time, then converted to an elevator lift, and basically the only information anyone had about the ride was all of maybe 3 pictures that were in some random coaster books, not websites like hard copy books back when those were a thing. Not to mention those pictures were of a TWISTING VERTICAL DROP off of a mining rig into a subterranean tunnel. It was a pretty intriguing attraction. Fast forward a decade and a half and there's a POV of everything at your finger tips and the mystique is no more. I miss the good ole days, and get off my lawn. (awesome report by the way, really cool looking park that not a lot of people get a chance to visit.)

Yeah, I do like it, it looks great just kind of different. I wonder if that's going to lead to any confusion from the guests looking for a typical ride entrance sign. It will also be interesting to see what kind of images they use for promoting the Flight of Passage ride. Will they show pictures of the link chairs, footage from the ride or what? They've done a pretty job of keeping that attraction under wraps thus far so I'm curious to see how much they "give away" ya know.
-
I'm curious to hear what the "story" behind the ride entrance sign/pole design is. It's kind of strange that the two attraction signs look basically identical and really don't even identify the ride. Maybe there is another "sign" or something that wasn't completed yet or something. ^Also, good to see a single rider line, I'm sure that will come in handy.

Love these pictures, that Fantasmic shot is awesome. Orlando is a great town for "hotels" and there really is kinda something for absolutely everyone and every budget. Some of the best weekends I've had in Orlando have been from just buying a Groupon for 2 cheap nights in some random timeshare resort I've never heard of, and they always turn out to be fine if not way nicer than what you pay for them. -
You're not wrong, but that also doesn't mean I didn't kind of like it a little bit. Besides we don't know what a Kraken really looks like, they might all be sock puppets in the wild..... Also, I just noticed this picture on Google images of someone finish up painting opening year, they should have totally left a person in it's mouth as a thematic element.

Hilltopper39 replied to JordyC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This place is pretty interesting to me, on one hand it seems strange that there is a separately gated park attached to an existing park, but on the other hand Ferrari and F1 racing (I think that's the right circuit but really don't know) is INSANELY popular in Europe so I'm sure this place will be slammed all the time and sell a ton of merchandise so it's probably a great concept. -
If it does stay exposed it will be interesting what kind of vantage points you have of that area from inside the park at ground level. I still don't really have a grasp on just how big the mountain is or where all of the guest areas are located but on the backside with the lazy river up near the base and and all of the tropical foliage they're installing maybe you don't ever really get a clear view of the "exposed" inside until you taking the stair towers up to the slides. Even that picture Robb posted looks to have been taken from above the roof line of a building outside of the park, so maybe the vantage points from the base up in the real guest areas "feel" different. I know there are supposed to be some thematic elements built into the lazy rivers here and there but it would be kinda cool to float through the middle of the volcano and look up to see a mess of slides a hundred feet above your head.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hilltopper39 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Exactly, and it's been a while but I seem to remember every single other pass holder preview night at Kings island being exactly like this. I got there early for Diamondback grabbed on ride in like 30 minutes then hit everything else in the park as a walk on (that might have been opening day but same thing). Mystic Timbers looks great......but I aint wait no 4 hours for it ever hahah. (says the guy who definitely waited 5 hours for Flight of Fear on it's opening day) -
That new Kendrick Lamar came out today, so yeah......

This train got intercepted by the Shed monster somewhere near the 4th quarter of the ride...... Seriously the shed is pretty cool, kinda reminds me of the ending of 7 Dwarfs Mine Train at Magic Kingdom where there's just something cool to look at while you sit and wait to roll into the station. Looks like a really solid coaster, can't wait to get back there in a few years.
